In my opinion: this game is simply not addictive

I’m sure some would refute that, but I have to agree. After around level 33, when I realized the only difference between 33 and 80 would be passive traits/stats, I just simply stopped caring about progression.

I think a huge chunk of the fun in MMOs is progressing, whether leveling or end game. For the exciting new abilities you can’t wait to unlock. There’s just no more interesting utility powers that I care to progress toward on my Guardian.

So I reached Level 30. It feels like a soft level cap.

I’m a guardian. I have all the utility skills that I think I’ll ever care to use now. I have the one elite skill that I found useful out of the entire line-up. That, in and of itself, is an issue… because level 30 isn’t the level cap. It’s supposed to be 80.

Considering the other half of my skills – the ones attached to weapons – were available about 5 kills after level 1, I ask straight up: What do I have to look forward to for the rest of the 50 levels? Gaining skills that I think are inferior to the ones I already have? Gaining passive traits that I attach and forget as I level from 30-80?

To me, this seems like a pretty major oversight with Guild Wars 2 and I’ve never felt this way in any MMO I’ve ever played… like my character is essentially done developing not even halfway to level cap.

There are no interesting, fun skills coming for the rest of my journey. This is all she wrote.

Anyone else feel this way?

Mesmers - How do they work?

They really should consider incorperating some kind of tutorial for Mesmers. Coming from a Guardian main, it was like night and day playstyle… which is good, as it adds diversity, but I really did feel like I had to work much harder to do a lot less.

I absolutely hated the “image” mechanic. By the time I got images up, anything I was targeting was already dead if other players were around. If solo, I could get 2-3 up to blow up and do a bit of damage, but… when other classes can just hit 3 buttons and kill anything in about half the time, I’m kinda left wondering why any sort of respectable damage has such a slow ramp-up time with this class. Add in the fact your illusions seem to vanish if you switch targets or your present target dies, and there’s a lot of things I don’t like about this profession.

Didn’t stick with the class long enough to have a very informed opinion, but my experience with it was pretty poor compared to Guardian, Engineer and Necromancer. By far, the least fun of those and – for me – the least effective by a margin.
