Read my last post carefully. I stated that if a gear-based (NO GRIND) sPvP could be PILOTED, an alternative way to get similar-to-exotic gear should be implemented as well.

Please refrain from telling me to not discuss and voice my opinion, but you can go around yelling yours

Once again I’ll try to clarify.

I never said I wanted ‘unbalanced’ stats.

Example: Through playing lots of sPvP from the start (without touching PvE if you don’t want to) you might be able (if implemented) to also get exotic gear.

EDIT: By ‘if implemented’ I mean that if they would try something like suggested, there would need to come a grind-free way of obtaining similar gear.

Exotic vs exotic is NOT unbalanced. Note that I am not vouching for gear progression in tiers such as WoW or the like.

Additionally, a full set of exotics is like what, 10 gold? Many players can get this easily, especially if you play sPvP non stop nowadays.

Also for the arguement that people want to delete/reset characters all the time. Gold/Karma/Glory/Rank (for now) is account bound, so that should be no problem, whatsoever.

Of course, the issue remains that if you go past 5 characters, your soulbound exotics could be an issue.

That’s why this is a suggestion for now, with the pilot idea in mind.

it will never happen because it would eliminate the equality that defines spvp. And equality isn’t just equality in gear, it’s also being able to make any profession you want an take it right to the mists, pvp players have their character select screen full of level 2’s and with this you would eliminate that. People would have to level a character straight to 80 and then get geat in order to get any profession they deem strong enough to play with.
And not only that, there’s a reason why spvp only has the amulets. Power creep is already a problem in spvp, but it’s even a bigger problem in wvw with the stupidly high stats. This is just a bad idea, many have mentioned this and it just won’t work. The closest that I think COULD work is choosing the power of stats in the amulets, like a thief taking zerk amulet but choosing with a higher vitality number and lower power/precision. But even this would maybe be too strong, specially on warriors.

Valid point. However, my suggestion is not replacing the system, but running a pilot with gear NEXT to the current system, just to try out how it goes. I never said it needs to be entirely removed

I semi-agree.

Whilst having karma/gold rewards in PvP helps in your PvE, it’s not a progression for your overall character as a whole.

Now I see that the idea of ‘grinding’ for gear is a HUGE turnoff for people, but that was not even close to my intention with the thread (albeit I did expect the reaction).

Example: You spent 100 hours on 1 character in PvE, got nice looking gear, feel good about the char. Now you go in sPvP, and none of it carries over.

Similarly: You spent 100 hours on 1 character in sPvP, got a high rank competitively, got nice sPvP cosmetics, but none of it carries over to PvE if you wish to play that.

If there’s a way to merge this, that would be perfect. I see using your own gear as a means to that, without any massive grind.

NOTE: The suggestion is a PILOT not a full REPLACEMENT.

The suggestion is how to carry over PvP rewards to PvE and vice versa. I think if you read the whole text it should be clear :P

I understand what you guys are talking about. That’s why I said a pilot attempt could be interesting. Nothing would change yet, it’s simply an experiment to survey how well it would work.

I think you guys are missing the point. Exotic gear is not really hard to get, and there are no gear grinds after that (as long as they don’t get added).

Exotic vs Exotic (ascended is a mere 5% boost) should be balanced, similarly to PVP gear, but more personal and rewarding.

Let me start off by stating that there are pros and cons to having equal stat gear in sPvP, and no links to the rest of the game.

Some pros are:
- Not needed to be level 80, can start sPvP without touching PvE
- Equal ground, no grinding, etc.

Some cons:
- No sense of progression besides rank/cosmetics
- No feel of connection between sPvP and PvE / WvW

There are obviously more, but that’s besides the point of the suggestion I’m about to make.

I have talked to some friends, and there is a definite need or want to make the connection, to feel a sense of accomplishment with the endgame and/or PvP.

Therefore, the following suggestion arises:

- Try out a pilot with a seperate sPvP that uses your own PvE gear, and works the same as in WvW (similar to WoW battlegrounds). No need to remove the current sPvP.

Simply monitor and see which of the two variants are liked/played more, and monitor the feedback.

Further goals, if this turns out to work, could be to add achievements to the gear-based sPvP that progresses your overall character/account, such as gear (just looks, no worries), or something similar.

Please discuss.

Hello everyone,

This is a problem that I just can’t fix on my own, so please help!

I have a samsung p2270 hooked up with an hdmi-dvi cable to my laptop.

I have set the samsung as my main display, it supports 1080p at 60 hz.

The problem is that when I launch it when using the external monitor as my only display, the screen flickers and then the launcher just closes.

When I launch the game on my laptop (as the only screen), it fully launches. I can then even switch the screen whilst the game is running to get a fullscreen 1080p at 60hz experience on my samsung.

What is wrong?! I am baffled.

I have updated my nvidia driver (clean update), my monitor has the latest driver as well.

All other drivers should be updated too.

Actually, the maul does not suffice for a two handed axe. You don’t knockback or knockdown with a war axe, you have more bleed/slicing techniques. As Anet wants to add more skills, this is an opportunity.

Please don’t simply deny the idea because you wouldn’t USE it, as other people might without interfering with your gameplay.

A simple skin wouldn’t add the whole two-handed axe element to the game.

Hmm yeah, I could understand that, as guardians are the ‘cleaner’ class.

Hey everyone (and hopefully Arenanet),

I’d like to suggest, and vote for (as I’m sure it has been suggested before), the implementation of two-handed weaponry to go with the idea of added skills and traits.

I think that it’s a missing component of the game, as all other weapon types have their two-handed counterpart (sword, mace).

Moreover, it would add more variety to playing a warrior/guardian, or other class that could potentially wield it. The heavy classes more as they rely on their use of weaponry more than utility skills.

Since I saw the announcement of guild wars 2, and the warrior class, I always imagined a brute norn warrior with a two-handed axe, and I think that now is the perfect time to start implementing it (as the last update was announcing added skills, etc.)
