Well to start out I love guild wars 2, i have been playing it since the beta. I have always looked at, but never posted on the forums here. However, i thought it time to throw my 2 cents on the games current status.

I would say that overall arena net has done an amazing job with guild wars 2. I played the first guild wars, but very causally since that’s how the game was. Things however are quite different with Guild Wars 2 as it seems arena net has tried to make it competitive and up-to-date. Though something that most people would agree is that the game sorely lacks in end-game content. I myself experienced this but have stuck with the game for over 2 years. Part of what made me stick with the game, (which i know is the same for others) is the PVP aspect.

This however can only stay fun and fresh for so long, and something that keeps this alive is the people you play with and against. Lately it seems that the PVP community is quite toxic, almost i dare say reaching the level of League of Legends infamous toxic players. Even with the profanity filter on i am constantly disgusted with how people talk and behave in lobbies and HotM. You can not join a game without constantly seeing people complain about builds leading to people calling each other vulgar comments, trolling, and other types of misconduct.

Naturally some of this is to be expected with any live pvp games (just look at Xbox live). However, when it became the normal daily way i see people behave in the game it makes me wonder why i still play the game. It’s like being in a relationship with somebody that you know is no good and about to end, but you still stick with it despite the obvious bad signs.

This is to no fault of Arena Net of course, they can not control how their clientele behave. Its just very disheartening to see what was once a fun and helpful community turn into the toxic insulting cesspool it is at the moment. The good news it can change and hopefully with heart of the thorns people will become to busy playing and exploring the game to attack each other. Then we can have the community that the original guild wars, and start of guild wars 2 was like.
