Like most people here i would like to see Tengu playable. As for where they would start and where they show up in campaign for the dragon(s), depending on if/when they are released, they could do what was done in GW1, where if you did a mission in the story line that took place before your character’s arrival then it would give you a message telling you that, or they could be happening at the same time. The other thing that could be done is just cut them out from all events story wise, and all story mode dungeon runs would give you the “this takes place before your characters arrival” message. As for where they would be the could have there starting area in an expansion, like Shing Jea island and they work out some story line for Tengu coming back to Cantha. If A-net is doing it’s research into how other MMOs solve problems like this then they can find away to fit Tengu on Tyria or in other continents.
They could always do what blizzard did with Death Knights and make it a Time Laps starting area.
Although it is an interesting theory about dragons and the six human gods i think that the dragons are more of opposite counterparts to the races themselves. Each dragon being opposed to the beliefs of each race, and when the fight for each dragon comes up during the story leading up to each dragon’s fight will have a head figure for the race that is “destined” to defeat the dragon, such as with Zhaitan and the sylvari. Sylvari believe that they where made to fight the dragons just as some sylvari have had a “Dream” of fighting the dragons (the player being on of them).
Zhaitan is the opposite of the sylvari in that it conflicts with Ventari’s teachings (the ones give to you in character creation to be specific). in that:
“All things have a right to grow” were as Zhaitan wish for only his own growth in power, take from others, taking there dead for his army.
“Where life goes so should I” Following what you were called to do and not what other will you to, such as Zhaitan does with the Risen.
“Act with wisdom, but act.” Act by your judgement and what you learned. while Zhaitan commands his army to act on his will and not act on there own. (this is all circumstantial as this is my view on each of Ventari’s teachings.)
When the time comes to fight Jormag I think it will be a Norn in the story that will lead the player through the fight. The Sons of Svanir believe Jormag to be a spirit of the wild granting power to those who have power. while Norn believe that the Spirits of the wild bless those who are willing to learn and follow them, weak or strong. The Norn also don’t see Jormag as a spirit of the wild but a corruption, and the spirits are normally seen as being pure/
For the other dragons i’m not to sure, Kralkatorrik could be human or charr, do to the what the branding hit and did. but i would say charr more do to it sleeping in the charr homeland.
Primordus could be Asura or Dwarf (they might become playable in a later expansions, highly doubt due to events in GW1 though)
Deep sea dragon could be human or Tengu (if they make them playable in later expansions), also our gate way back to Cantha as well.
sorry for wall of text

sideways glance dont count much as a martil skill ^^
i mean we can open the discussion to everyone but have to ground it on martill skill, regardless of the weapon,so magic users per se are out, thief, assassins, warriors, henchman and heroes, central lore characters and are in
I would have to say the top for me would be:
1) Vizu: since you did open it up to assassins as well, i might as well throw Vizu in there as she was the one who crippled or disarmed Shiro. Even if it was luck or a cheap shot, a skilled warrior like Shiro who fought off hundreds of Luxons, Kurzick, and Royal Gurads for her to find an opening and exploit it would that not make her one of the best? is that not what you do in a fight?
2) Archemorus and Viktor (they’re tied): To live through Shiro’s killing spree, you would have to be a strong and tough fighters. granted they both gave the killing blow to a crippled Shiro, but sometimes it’s about evading and blocking.
3) Turai Ossa: Although larger then life he was great general and leader, as well as a remarkable fighter, defeating Palawa Joko in one-on-one battle.
4) Shiro Tagachi: He defeated many Luxons, Kurzick, and Royal Guard signal-handedly. only to fall to signal assassin. He was noticed and picked to be the Emperor’s body guard. only reason he’s not higher on the list is do to lack of tactical ability, he’s seems to relay on instinct over tactics, which can be used to determine a great fighter as well.
5)Balthazar: He’s the god of war, has mastered everyone weapon that has been forged. and is looked to for guidance by almost anyone who wishes to become better in any give weapon. but he’s a god so who can really say that’s fair and could count as magic, as well as his anger seems to get the better of him and although the god of war can still lose in a game of tactics and strategy, Nui.
6) almost any character in lore who has a skill named after them: you must be a a talented and great warrior to get this activement.
