Sudden crashes after Lost Shores Patch

While updating my drivers got me no closer to a fix, thanks to the Sylvari Specialist dd790 over at http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/75196-pc-crashing-after-latest-update/, I found a solution that did work for me. As he suggested in post #7 @ 12:40pm, I just renamed my local.dat file and voila, I’m back in the game!
NOTE: Be sure to have a firm grip on your user name and password, & any custom Options settings you have as doing this caused me to lose my customized settings/options. Small price to pay imho. Hope this helps someone else too!

This appears to have worked for me as well. Also, when my PC was having this problem, it would crash to blue screen maybe 4 or 5 times, then it would hang on the loading screen and go to the Anet crash report but never get to the game. After the crash report was sent and everything appeared to go back to desktop, I checked my video settings on my PC and found that Nvidias desktop manager was not functioning properly and that my desktop settings were set at 600×480 which was not what they were displaying on screen which was actually 1600×900. Upon reboot however everything goes back to normal until I try to start the game again then the process repeats. Anyways all this has been sent to Anet as I have been in contact with them since early Saturday morning. Hope you guys can get it all sorted. Good Luck.

This (game error/crash or BSoD on every attempt to play) just started happening to me with the latest patch about an hour or so ago. I’m also using Windows XP.

I am having this same issue after this mornings update.

Anet should take a look at some FPS games like Battlefield and Unreal Tournament and structure WvsW and server balance like those games but on a larger scale.
