Button to temporarily disable autotargeting?

It isn’t. It’s a crutch. Learn to play without it. Instead bind a key to “select nearest target”, which is exactly what auto-targeting does automatically. You get far more control from the game and your issue with trying to remain un-targeted for certain skills (such as ride the lightning) disappears.

You’re welcome.

I could. I could learn to play without many things. However, this isn’t a thread on “how to accept the unnecessary difficulties in the game to have the edge in combat,” but about “how to make the game easier and give more control over combat by adding a simple keybind – without breaking the balance.”
I still use manual targeting, and the keybind you mentioned, but it’s not enough to me.
It matters all the more since GW2 is a blinding fast game and in big fights (think WvW battles) you don’t really have the leisure to sit back and target people as you would in, let’s say, WoW.
So, the problem, as far as I’m concerned, still stands.

Oh, sorry, didn’t see it ^^"
Now, I don’t mean to be rude, but having read your suggestion, I daresay mine is a bit more simple [puffs chest out proudly].

Idk, just occured to me. Autotargeting is a good thing. But, you know how when you want to use a skill that, for example, gives you very fast movement (Ride the Lightning) or heals people where it hits, you can use it while free-aiming? So, maybe we could get a button that disables autotargetting when held down? I tried playing without autotargetting, but when things get hairy, it’s nice to have an aimbot on, so you don’t shoot blindly.

Looked up “how to fix rubberbanding” on google…
Ok, so the most basic thing you can do here is limit your frames, if you haven’t already. You know you should do this, when your PC just ain’t that strong anymore.
Thing is, it helped me limit the frequency of this happening, but I’m not free from that entirely. My only melee character is my thief, and I play d/d. The bug (when autoattack is on) now happens only on the third strike in the chain on 1 (when the skill is charging/the blade making contact with the enemy). Also, Death Blossom reacts much faster now (before, it needed something like half a second to launch up in the middle of auto attack).
Also, ppl who feel they have good connection (the ping is right, et caetera), I read that this might be deceptive. Google what you can do to fix your lag spikes (because this is probably what causes the problem). I’m still going to keep on searching for some more solutions for myself.

If you want thieves to use less stealth, make other builds effective. With my dodge working only when I’ve turned off auto-attack and Death Blossom activating on time ONLY when I’m not performing any other actions (save for running around et caetera) I kind of gave up on my vision of an acrobatic thief, relying on dodges and well planned movement instead of the whole sneaky-stabby (it’s mostly fun in single player games, here it takes two buttons on a still target).
Really, Warriors getting up a few times from the downed state in a fight when surrounded by friends bug me a lot more than princes and princesses Stabbity doing stab stab kill kill.

Let’s make this GTA1 – 1 hit, you’re dead. Or HoH mode of DMC – same. It’s because it’s fantasy, based somewhat on reality, that it plays like this and unlike what you’d prefer. Besides, I think a burning rock chucked at someone at high speed (consider the rock’s mass when it comes to its acceleration) would do much more damage than a tiny bullet.
What’s more, compared to the other MMOs, hell, RPGs in general, you can die pretty quickly in GW2, even if you have your 28k health points, instead of being a tower with 200k HP taking blows for half an hour before you fall. And thanks to scaling, the game makes sure you never take 0-1 damage from foes, just because you’re level 75 exploring a low level map. I like it better this way.
I like to think that because of the presence of magic or other mystical forces, creatures of fantastical lands are protected by them to a point (then again, cutscenes, CG cinematics and films based on games tend to tell us it’s not like it at all and people die really quickly (and that Phoenix Down doesn’t really work)).

Hello fellow players!
I wasn’t sure where to place this thread, so I posted it here, in general discussion. Hope I don’t make too much trouble.
So, coming back on topic, I was exploring Rata Sum and came down to the depths. There I noticed branches growing from the ceiling hanging over a huge crevasse, and in those branches some cubes were stuck (the ones serving as materials for all these cubic buildings). As they were relatively closeby, and there isn’t really a harm in dying from a fall, I decided to leap onto them, and to my surprise, I did actually manage to do that. And so, I tried descending the cavern by jumping on lower branches and cubes – which turned out to be fairly easy. Then, as I jumped down on the last cube, I looked for a way to go even lower, as I’d only climbed halfway down to the bottom. So I spotted a small piece of land to jump on, but since the jump was a bit too far away, I hit my Ride the Lightning skill, and reached it safely. Then I began to make my way to the bottom (it was easy from there). Unfortunately, there was nothing to do there once I reached it, so I teleported back.
What do you guys think?
