Oobob.6754

I am looking for a static raiding group. I am in central time and free M/W/F after 6CST and on weekends. I main a full ascended magi druid and also have a full ascended dh. They are both running qT builds.

I have completed the following bosses:

VG/Gore/Sloth/Xera/Cairn/MO/Sam/Bandit/Escort/

I have done 1 training on Deimos and KC, and am looking for a static group to work towards farming all raids weekly.

I have all classes at 80 with multiple sets of full ascended and would be willing to gear them if needed.

I’m fairly relaxed and willing to spend long amounts of time in content.

Please contact me in game on Oobob.6754 if you have an opening.

When will A-net realize that opposing players ARE the content for WvW? They need to get rid of all the PvE elements (if we wanted those, we’d a play PvE) and fix the reward system so that players are motivated to come back.

they had 3 years of no content updates basically because of this. remember how fun those 3-way bay/hills fights were? there is nothing close to them. they need to go beg whoever made that map with truckloads of money, because they were on point.

i don’t know why they aren’t adding them back. if they don’t fix this before stuff like crowfall or camelot unchained they’re gonna lose a lot of players, cause even the great combat of gw2 can’t fix what they’ve done.

I am learning the mechanics of Sab and am at a point that would be good to start playing on an organized group with.

Also have full ascended zerker rev in meta gear, have cleared vg in this and had gore practice in it. Full ascended condi war is one rune from completed, also have DPS tempest.

Am free Tues/Thurs/Fri nights, Sat/Sun afternoons CST. May be able to find other times depending on what’s available.

Instabilities: cut and paste
New Island with New Merchant: cut current island, remove the portal, add new character model with existing asset, add a few items
Collection: not touched
Exploits: not touched
Leaderboards: not touched
Rewards: touched, end result is the OPPOSITE of what they said it would be

Half the stuff that was discussed as selling points for the revamp, THE SELLING POINTS that got me to buy HoT weren’t included, and haven’t been added in the past few weeks. It just feels so dishonest that it hurts.

It’s a shame that they found time to reduce the drop rates and make power builds terrible in high level fractals, but the content we were hoping was added didn’t come. Nerfing drop rates without adding substantive content is not going to draw customers. I don’t like the idea of paying 50 dollars to redo my armor and get less loot.

I feel bad, because you can tell the employees probably had to work themselves to the bone for this short a release cycle, but there wasn’t enough time to finish. I guess it’s a lesson learned that when this happens, nerfing drop rates and making people swap from one dps build to another should be last on their list because it causes a terrible perception among players.

I stopped playing fotm entirely. I’m not sure if I’ll start again. Wvwvw is having similar issues, and that’s what I did most of the time. I play less now.

I don’t know why the new BL is like EOTM. I thought it was fairly clear wvwvw players disliked EOTM, and that the people who went there were cross tier gvg guilds trying to fight and people farming levels and ranks.

Maybe they were trying to get new people in since they played EOTM, but the trouble was people went there for ktrains and levels, not fighting.

Would you like to see WvW reverted?

Yes, the map is too big and the complicated navigation discourages fighting. It gets in the way of running to the people you want to kill. The old borderlands were straightforward to navigate but still had terrain advantages that kept it interesting. This is way too complicated and prevents fights.

It also does way too much to favor defenders without addressing the root cause of the ktrain complaints, which is that there weren’t enough people on a lot of servers to have an active defense. Oddly enough the huge size is a major deterrent to defense since you can’t move to what is being hit quickly enough, or scout the map.

On T1 ktraining isn’t really a problem, and there are lots of great fights defending objectives and they don’t just get steam rolled. Smaller servers just doesn’t have the coverage or numbers to handle these problems, and that’s the root cause of the ktrain or easy flipping of captured objectives. Biasing the map for defenders just makes it less fun without addressing the root cause of a lack of people to defend.

Cut down the number of servers, making it hard to take a keep isn’t going to address the real problem that a lot of these servers don’t have enough people to defend/maintain coverage of captured keeps.

our fights guild cancelled raid after this change. this is a huge boost to blobs, which our 20 person group was capable of sustaining against and handling.

there is no way to counter a blob with this. they have more cc and you no longer have a way to break it. people who were having trouble fighting unskilled blobs before this likely weren’t in organized groups, because it was certainly more possible than it is now.

sure there’s going to be a new meta, but it’s going to be boring pirate ship. as an ele main i liked the danger and mobility of avoiding their hammer train and sticking with mine. this is a bad change.

I agree.

most of the people here complaining are part of small fights guilds that go zerg busting. the trouble is in these small groups zergs overwhelm your stability since they have much more cc available.

You know them personally, and this is your experience of their actions? Perhaps it is in everyone’s best interest if you stick to speaking for yourself and let others post their own experiences and opinions.

sure thing, but that’s what a lot of the primary wvwvw guilds i know did, including my own (called raid early last night/taking breaks)

the main way to “adapt” is to play with a ton of ranged and just sit there at a distance and cast, which is incredibly boring without the jousting of melee. this has intensified the dullness of the pirate ship meta. sure it’s obvious how to adapt, it’s also way less fun than having organized melee rushes to charge with and avoid.

i’m an ele main and i would be put to sleep if i didn’t have melee pushes to evade. but that’s the new meta we’ll have to “adapt” to, sadly it won’t be fun to play for most organized fights groups.

this is the first time anet made a change that makes the game not fun.

It would be fun to see during the wvwvw experiment period whether teams of servers based on population help stop the imbalances.

The populations don’t work out well with free transfers, and costly transfers aren’t helping replace people from lower tier servers who stop playing wvwvw or the game. So it’d be fun to see what happens if teams were made from groups of servers from kitten, etcetc based on participation and points. The hard part would be coordinating teamspeak and other stuff among the other servers.

That or some servers need merged. We have the same number from launch, and since servers only count for wvwvw, there’s no need to have so many when queues are empty even on T1.

They’d need to find a way to keep it interesting and meaningful per server – for instance, ranking each server based on their relative performance. You could imagine this would make for some hilarious royal rumble dynamics as former allies turn on each other as they are pitted against each other for first.

I’m a little confused at the reply. There’s a long thread with about 40k views expressing concern about the drop rates being garbage and their response is to ask for metrics to see if it’s intended behavior. This is revealing a problem a lot of people have with the game, which is that drops are garbage and FOTM is really the only place you find items of value.

Who cares if it’s intended or not – the point is that the supply of many items is ridiculously low due to terrible drop rates, and that a skinner box design in guild wars 2 doesn’t work if it takes a huge number of hours to obtain an exotic.

It reeks of economic concerns interfering with the fundamental enjoyment of a game. Gold is worth something – however, a huge chunk of the playerbase doesn’t feel rewarded for the amount of time they put in and the skinner box ultimately fails. Congratulations?

It reminds me of a corporate law class I once took. Due to the control McDonalds has on its franchises, they can be held liable for the actions of those franchises. But it’s not the lawyers job to tell them to stop micromanging the food at each franchise. The business model of McDonalds is specifically to sell a uniform experience at each location – to eliminate the liability resulting would destroy the entire reason the business exists in the first place.

I get the feeling the same thing is happening with the economy and drop rate in Guild Wars 2.

And once again, I’m left wondering why include the stat upgrades at all.

That’s the million dollar question, which we’ll never get a real answer to.

We all have a good idea why of course, it just doesn’t make sense, not to me anyway.

I thought this was discussed before? Is Ascended gear not to bridge the gap between the exotic and the upcoming legendary armors?

how does creating a tier of armor that uses tons of t6 mats bridge a gap to legendaries, which require a ton of t6 mats? it only delays the legendary as they both rely on the exact same items to create.

all this did is make my legendary progress slower, as i now need the t6 mats and ectos for ascended gear.

The thing about fps like quake 3 there is a skill grind to it. Most ppl do not pick up fps and get good at them right then and even though a great deal of time players do not get good until they go all into these fps.

You do not seem to understand what makes games fun its about working to something for a feeling of achievement it IS a type of work or job that you put on your self that why hobbles are too.

Skill grind, lmao. A grind doesn’t mean it takes a long time, it’s that it’s an uncreative and unimaginative task that’s repeated and isn’t particularly hard. Aka killing mobs for t6. If the higher level dungeons dropped way more t6 I might agree with you. But I’m killing 40 dredge at once for 1 t6 item and it’s stupid. This is like calling reading a novel a grind. It’s not and it’s a use of the term that ignores the entire connotation of the word.

Quake 3 matches are dynamic and strategies change depending on the players and their preferences, killing mobs over and over is literally the same thing repeated for hours on end. That’s why multiplayer fps is so much more fun than single player. People allow for a more dynamic variety of events.

I don’t understand what makes games fun? You have no idea what you’re talking about because that’s a personal preference. Also, Mario is fun and there’s no grind at all. The only place people say a grind is necessary for fun is in MMOs and I don’t understand how they can do it with a straight face. Almost every other genre of game has no grind, and if they have progression mechanics they generally take a week or two to max out.

A very important point is the fact that there going to be more added to the game for upgrades so every thing your doing now is just a simple time filler to give them time to add in more things to the game with out it being pushed over the top. Sory to be the one to tell you but most mmorpg need time to become something very unending fun even GW2 has ALOT of things to do in the game some may say too much and there more to come but its a TIME thing. 3 months is nothing and there nothing to say that you cant play other mmorpg at the same time your playing GW2 THAT is the idea behind GW2 its something you can pick up and put down when you want to this is where mmo are all going.

You can’t put this down, you’ll be left behind so quick. Imagine trying to catch up on fotm….

So wait what else would you do in this game if there was no grind? And there are other ways to get the items you want then just what your saying if you want the best or best looking then you may have to WORK for it or it will not feel like you did something with your gaming time.

I’m not sure you know how the game works, because there is no other way of obtaining those items besides what I mentioned above.

When I had max stats with exotics I would run dungeons for fun. I farmed a full COF set at 20 tokens each and ac as well. Dungeons were enjoyable, I ran a lot of different ones, and I was looking forward to the tweaks to make them better. I was leveling alts and looking to do more spvp/wvwvw until they added this gear. Now I’m burned out on FOTM, trying to find groups fragmented across 30+ levels, and I have the 3 ascended pieces of gear. It’s also harder to find groups for other dungeons because FOTM has become the thing to run.

What’s wrong with you thinking you need grind to have fun? I didn’t grind quake 3 and loved playing it. It felt like I did something I enjoyed, not participating in a horrible grind. The grind is so bad I feel like I’m progressing less than I was towards my legendary because the goal is so ridiculously overtuned compared to the drop rate of the mats.

I do lots with my gaming time – grinding cheapens it. I don’t play games to work, and if it ever comes to that I’m giving up the hobby and focusing more on my actual work. GW2 is coming very close to that point – that’s sad considering how much I sold this game as a grind-free alternative to most MMOs.

I don’t get how anyone can compare WoW grind to any sort of ‘grind’ in this game. Yeah it took me five times doing lvl 10 fractals to get my 2 ascended rings, but it didn’t feel like it was a grind, I actually enjoyed it. Yeah you see the same maps here and there but it sort of alternates. But it never once reminded me of the games I had to kill 5000 of the same monsters to get a weapon drop, then grind another monster 50000 times to get that weapon to +10 to even COMPETE with people in pvp.

You’re not max stats. There are statted infusions that take 100 t6 mats and 250 karka shells. You’ll need 3 atm (healing power costs about 30g to make). The backpiece will take 250 t6 mats or 1850 fotm tokens. Also, to upgrade the backpiece, you’ll need 250 ectos.

I have played the game 670 hours and I have about 20 of all t6 mats except for 40/60 bloods and bones I got from mystic clovers. This is an epic grind that far surpasses anything I experienced in SWTOR and isn’t that far off from WoW. This is worse than the rep farming I did back when I played BC.

I consider any gear which has -20 of absolute max stats to be ‘basically max stats’.

well, that’s not the definition of the word maximum, so I’m not sure why you’re using it.

+5 across all 12 pieces of gear will help you. even if it didn’t, if the difference is that small take it out of the game.

I think many people forget that GW2 wants to make it easy for people to achieve max stats, and it does a decent job at it. If I just hit 80 and got a full set of exotics from karma/dungeons/events (not too hard to do) then I’m far less likely to care about that guy who spent 500 hours grinding for his legendary having a huge advantage over me in combat.

It’s not easy to achieve max stats at all. It takes running a dungeon repeatedly so that the right ring drops twice, then spending 20g on items for a 5 point boost in the infusion slot 3 times. This could end up being repeated many more times if they follow this system for the next rollout of ascended gear.

This doesn’t count how many fractals you run for the backpiece, or the tremendous amount of t6 mats that you need to make one yourself. I’ve played the game for 600+ hours and have about 20 of every t6 mat besides the ones I got while making clovers (bloods and bones are 60/80). I spent about 5 on exotic gear and that’s it. Saying nothing of the 250 ectos required to infuse the backpiece.

Also, if you do not like the extra grinding required for the +5 to each stat then don’t even bother. Don’t do things that are not worth doing, it’s a simple concept really.

There’s no grind in gw2.

The gap isn’t in stats, it’s in difficulty to obtain. Exotics rain from the skies and are super easy to get. Legendarys are ridiculously difficult to get, there’s no middle ground. that’s what the Ascended stuff is supposed to be, something in between to allow a sense of accomplishment.

A sense of accomplishment should be from completing a hard dungeon like Fractal Mists without gear gating me out. I felt this way when I did SE and aggroed everything for fun, or COF magg and killed every mob on the bomb part. Gear is not an accomplishment and I don’t see why people think this.

People play action games just for this feeling. That’s why I’ll be putting this down for Assassin’s Creed.

This is extremely disappointing. My age is like 540 and I was having a lot of fun with the game without a gear grind by playing dungeons with fun mechanics. Now you introduce a new tier of gear that ensures fewer people will be playing any dungeon besides Fractals of the Mists, violating a promise you made when releasing this game and disappointing me as a customer.

I was having fun gearing and leveling alts. I’m a dungeon farmer and could get this gear almost immediately. But I’m having trouble finding a reason to login. I wanted an MMO about skill, not stats, and you came so close to finally making an MMO that’s essentially an action game that it’s infuriating to see you fail here.

Want to add something between exotics and legendaries? Make legendary armor that looks good with no stat bonus. Of course, pumping stats is easier than hiring artists, which is why I imagine this route was taken.
