Just figured out a possible reason why this quest is bugged…when mousing over Demmi, you get the usual chat bubble…and accepting her quest allows the Trahearne dialogue to proceed as per normal. Mousing over the Asuran, you get just the regular pointer and no chat bubble.
Just submitted a bug report in-game regarding this issue, with a screenshot included. Not sure if it matters, but I chose to go with the Asuran scientist mission. Regarding the graying-out of quest text, making the decision is grayed and it just says “Talk to Trahearne” and Trahearne just says “Make a decision,” with no other NPC’s left to talk to.
