Easy Solution to Remove Zerg in WvW

Am I the only one who feels that zerging has nothing to do with the 5-man caps for AOE/buffs? Maybe my server is different, but over here, we have basically three kinds of groups: roamers, guild zergs, and pub zergs.

Roamers cap a camp or maybe even a tower every now and then, skirmish with other roaming groups, and get wiped by zergs. Not a lot of people roam because there’s not much reward for it (can’t cap big things or as fast as a zerg), and if you really want to fight in small groups, SPvP is a better place to do that.

Guild zergs do two things: fight other zergs, and cap everything from camps to stonemist. And the latter is usually just a way to get to the former. I would call it “riding the bag train,” as bags are what they’re concerned with for the most part.

Last, and anything but least, are the pub zergs. By far most players on my server fall into this category. They do one thing, and one thing only—follow the public commanders who drive the karma train. Basically, it’s flip camps, flip towers, flip keeps, etc., as long as we don’t ever upgrade them, because that would slow down the karma gain. The whole idea of PPT is lost as the reward for defending anything in WvW is less karma (as opposed to being on the karma train) and less money/loot (upgrades aren’t free, you aren’t completing as many events, and not killing as many champions). Naturally, the bigger the karma train, the more desirable it is to be on, as the PvD goes faster (you have more total supply to build siege, and more people to DPS the door down after siege is built).

Basically, the reward for roaming in a small group just isn’t there. The band-aid “fix” (i.e. Righteous Indignation) just serves to redirect or slightly slow the karma train, and not to encourage roaming.

This is an old recipe, not a Wintersday one.

Thanks for the recipie

And yes, I do agree the mats are pretty insane. Still, vanilla and chocolate bars are still much cheaper than chili peppers.

Idle timer while dead?

Yeah, but with as bad as the culling and view distance is in this game, and how far the trebs shoot, it’s really necessary.

Because the point of an AFK timer is to detect if someone is AFK, not dead.

Well, I can answer my own question. There is an idle timer, and even spamming chat doesn’t reset it.

If anyone does know a way to reset the idle timer while dead in WvW let me know.

Anyone know if there is an idle kick timer while dead, and if so, what can be done to reset it? I’m dead near the top of the jumping puzzle, and would rather wait for someone to res me than doing the puzzle again.

Anyone else tired of people who start a dungeon instance, get to the final boss for the given path, and then quit, in some cases right before the boss dies, forcing everyone else out of the dungeon and preventing them from getting the reward?

I honestly don’t want to do dungeons until people can at least stay in the instance even if the instance creator leaves. GW1 let you do this, why not GW2?

Another problem, somewhat related, is that it occasionally bugs and doesn’t let new party members join the current instance—it puts them in a new instance of the dungeon instead. This also kills dungeons if more than 1 person leaves.

I got tier 1 of this while crafting, and went out to an explorable zone to finish it up. However, even though I have not died since I earned tier 1, and I’ve earned a lot of experience, the title will not progress. It’s stuck at 277,900/500,000, no matter how much I gain without dying.

I wasn’t able to do cross region (North American and Europe players can’t play together), but I did manage to get a group to finish it today.

However, knowing what a pain it is to get a group for, I’m more than happy to help you with it. Just msg me in game when you need me and chances are I’ll be able to come.

Well I had a party, but apparently those of us on the US servers can’t play with those on the Europe servers. So, if you’re in the US, and want to do this, let me know.

Been trying to find people in game but my account seems to be eternally “suppressed”. I seem to recall that GW1 had a party search feature that this game is really lacking…

Anyway, PM me in game if you’re interested.
