Had a great night with VoTF tonight after a shaky start, was great fun. Some very enjoyable fights.
It looks like T2 should also be good fun and I suspect Desolation will ping-pong between T1 and T2, so some further good times ahead.
People need to complain less; be happy!

Was some good fights of RG vs VoTF; and a great comeback by VoTF after a bad start.

Calm down ECL, hostility between good guilds like VoTF and RG are bound to spill onto the forums. Both know they can wipe the other given the slightest advantage, be it numbers or terrain. However you ECL guys talk big on the forum but show nothing in game. I’m sure if you really did want even number fights you would just offer a GvG.

In the end as long as it isn’t taken too far the drama is good for GW2, WvW and all guilds involved. So keep up the good work (trolling) and try not to make total kitten of yourselves eh

tPvP in this game due to conquest mode is about running around and capping points, if there is a 5v5 fight someone probably made a mistake. People in RG played it in the beta and we did a lot of smallscale 6 and 12 man roaming and 6v6 events in WAR, but as of now we aren’t really active in any mode of sPvP. We just don’t find the format appealing atm due to conquest mode. And yeah if you are more active in something you are probably going to be better at it. It doesn’t take a genius to figure that out.

Whole night yesterday we saw a massive blob of GoD, VoTF, GH, Bull and a few more guilds. It wasn’t exactly on rare occasions either.

Once again, not accusing anyone of anything. But I’d say it’s better to just admit you’re blobbing up now and then. Let’s just face it. Every server and every guild blob up now and then, whether we like it or not. Including SFR and VcY.

sorry but your wrong. VoTF ran around with a few (3-6) Bull at most of the night, GH had their own seperate raid with I assume GoD. Sometimes as I said the raids got mixed up; it happens but most of the night it didnt happen. There was no deliberate blob; so you got run over a few times when the 2 raids hit the same area accidently. That happens, get over it.

btw all guilds, including whichever guild your in all blobbed up the night before that which i’ve already said VoTF had over 100 in its blob that night at some points.

As a result most of the night, VoTF ran with an average of 25 people – which would have been higher but queue issues + between 3-6 adds varying as the night went on. Thats around 28-31 people. We didnt win every fight with those low numbers but had some good ones. And yes, some guilds did run away from us. I dont get why, in one particular case I think that a certain guild + friends would have beaten us despite us having just built 2 arrow carts; at the least it would have been a pretty dicey fight for both sides, but instead they legged it.

VoTF could not run with 45 players because queues stop this – most guilds are finding it difficult to get every player they have into WvW because of queues. Well that and it wasnt until around 10pm gmt we even had 45 online. A large number of whom could not get into our zone.

If certain guilds want to make excuses; thats ok. You know how many we had as culling is gone; we know how many we had to. You simply missed out on some potential great fights was all.

strangely enough I posted the same stuff for DAOC but I just dont get the same level of server hate in GW2 as matchups usually change too often. That said the present T1 is lasting a little while …

Every server – and guild – blobbed tonight in numbers over 100. No question about that.

For VOTF at the start we were just us and a tiny number of pugs; but kept on running into 100+ SFR in Viz.
We aquired more and more pugs. At some point our commander – Jackie – became the only commander in the zone. Everyone in the zone started to follow Jackie. Was bizzare to see! Huge trail of people. I am guessing we hit over 100 in our blob.

VOTF had some fun in VZ land fighting against RG / Boon / VG / siN etc tonight. Couldnt quite take the large castle thingy but was fun fighting in it, for a long time. Then also had fun slaughtering those SFR attacking Greenlake.

Not quite enough roaming fights; too many guilds refused to come out of defences and roam, but was a pretty good night though over all as the sieges and defence of siege was fun.

Hoping that the new anti siege weapon abilities work well; being hit by 2 catapults and 2 balista at once while being mass arrow carted is kinda painful for an elementalist

Remember tomorrow is WvW ranks day – so I expect increased activity from all of you. Dont allow your guildies to slack – phone them / threaten to kick any slackers.

I of course am off to Japan on Friday for 10 days to see cats, ninjas and cherry blossom but thats allowed as I’m beautiful so I get away with it.

So history of blobbing. History is interesting.

As far as I can tell this orginates from the DAOC server ‘Excalibur’ – and maybe others during 2002. At this time a large forum war was fought on Freddys Forum reguarding that any guild running with another = blobbing.

This btw is where Black Company first got called Backup Company. I know as I was with them that they were not called that before this game.

A large number of guilds and people from that server then went on to propogate that same feeling in other games.

I think thats where it came from – EVE came out what a year before? But EVE players stayed in EVE for a while I think and didnt ahve the same attitude / expand into other games so much.

Anyone want to add to this? Am always happy to see if others can add to the history.

Not much flaming compared to the forums in DAOC (freddys forum) or WAR (whalliance).
Still now its heated up, maybe we will be in for a good night of all out combat? Get your guilds out and have fun … unless the lag kills our server cluster off …

In some points i agree with you ethier, but i need to repeat something important: no, we really don’t want to avoid fights. But if a VS “pug” commander do it, i can really understand it. Remember the example i used: imagine you have to charge a RG group, then after a ZDs, and again RG, with 30+ “pick up”. Its horrible to manage, horrible to manage morale, because you know you can’t kill a good group guild (or sometimes, but very rare) with this. Sometimes you have beginners, lvl 1, bad builds, kittenty stuff… never forget the commander when he has to ask Fifilepetitguerrier to do complex stuff or charge without fear versus a ZDs Norn screaming Russian things under his chapka with his vodka bottle near him. It’s too much for the poor Fifi.

Remember, never forget VS have guilds of course but a lot more “pick up” than you =)

Anyway, we lost a big night guild (MORT) 1 month ago, some offpeak commanders, and some burned out during last months -even me i’m almost out of energy- so it’s a little bit hard for us. But heh, we will do our best to come back =)

Those Russians are harsh . I spent near 11 years in a Russian guild sometimes chatting to a Siberian farmer, who drank alot of vodka. I still dont speak a word of Russian other than ‘Da’.

Hang in there though, those Russians are nice guys. and girls. well the girls are a bit harsher.

if sfr don’t start realizing pretty soon that vs is the biggest threat they won’t win this round. the rg/sin blob, opt etc are all focusing deso atm and pretty much leaving vs alone. come monday vs are going to start pulling ahead and sfr are gonna need as big a head start on points they can get and this is not the way to do it tbh. but either way, we take it as a compliment

Think of it in a positive way. It means we are having some really good fights against good premade warbands

Lot of accusations about blobbing. The reality is most good guilds dont blob unless they are trying to take a heavily aoe defended objective.

Sure accidently adding and so on happens, and once you have that commander tag up, good luck with stopping pugs converging on you

But mostly it really isnt done on purpose. Yeah theres times when you just got rolled by 90+ and its the 3rd time so you group up but its pretty rare.

My experience anyway.

Black Company (in game name of Blackcompany or BC) are looking for more players to join its existing and successful warband in WvW.

We are not a RP guild, but a guild focussed on WvW and sPvP, however we will run dungeons etc as needed.

A number of the guild are Russian and it was a Russian guild, however there are some english players and from a number of EU countries. English is spoken for WvW commands etc. I myself dont speak any Russian

The guild was created around 12 years ago has a good reputation from DAOC, WoW, WAR, WOT, SWTOR etc. We currently have around 70 players in GW2 and during peak times have about 40-50 online.

The guild runs a regular warband on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday of 25-35 players, we would like to increase this. Outside of that we often run a smaller warband or 5v5 groups.

We are in an alliance of several other WvW guilds and communicate with them to achieve common goals.

Staff ihas come pretty easy for me. I have yet to use it in spvp, but its amazing in PVE and anything with group presence. Just make sure you grab arcane wave and evasive arcana. You will have 6 blast finishers. I can heal myself and everyone near me back to full health in a matter of seconds, and keep a permanent stack of 9-13 stacks of might for anyone in range. I can get way more stacks of might with my scepter (sometimes in the 20s) but I don’t get as good of group heals. Ever since I have switched to my new build, I have been able to tackle all skill points solo easily. many veterans that had once given me trouble go down easily. I am level 70 right now, and I have yet to pop my heal in anything other than WvW, and one meta event since switching to this build. I even got my monthly survivor today. You all can say “well your not even level 80 yet.” True, I might be in for a tough time in Orr, but I feel im doin pretty good right now, and I feel pretty strong and fearless when I can just run into any mob and take them all out, I don’t mass damage, but I never die.

Where are you getting 6 blast finishers from with a staff? Earth eruption is 1, Arcane wave is 1, and Evasive Arcana is 2. Thats 4, what are you using for the other 2?

Hi, I’m curious as to what builds and gear people are using in WvWvW in a reasonable offensive direction.

I assume when running in a warband against other warbands that the staff is a requirement. Is there any reason to use any other weapon combo?

I know you cant really be glass cannon – you will die; so I have some moderate defence – 15k health and 1300 toughness. Is this an ok amount to aim for?

Currently I use a fire / earth condition damage build, with some into arcane for the increased aoe you can get at 20 and for bonuses from attunement swapping.

My gear has a good bit of + condition damage. Its an ok build but I dont get the ‘woah’ impression from it, does a build focussing more on precision and crit damage work better?

I’m fully exotic geared but I seem to do hits mostly around 500 – 1.5k, sure theres lots of them and sometimes higher than 1.5k but still.

The class you already play; the elementalist. Its a really powerful class but to achieve that you need to play very well and it require alot more than pressing a couple of buttons
