Dueling in the PvE world.
What if my character got in a dispute or met his rival across a field and wanted to duke it out? This can’t possibly be that hard to code in right?
I’d be fine with this if there wasn’t any mixing of armor types as that can be very wierd.
Weapons are another thing, I think everyone should access all types of weapons, i want my necromancer to use my chirotophobia sword.
Please, this sounds perfect. Every single goal that Anet wanted to reach with the implementation of ascended gear would still work with this.
I’ve literally stopped doing the things that I enjoy because I wouldn’t get my ascended gear in a timely manner by doing them.
You can’t serve 2 masters Arena net, splitting you’re resources into horizontal and vertical progression could be much more challenging than you can expect.
I’m mad primarily about the stat jump introduced and to a lesser extent agony. There was a gap between exotics and legendaries but there was no need to raise the stats of the new pieces of gear said to fill that exotic, they could have been halfway points on the way to achieving a legendary and just be a very fancy skin. That way your goal of a gap filler from exotic to legendary is still achieved and the stat ceiling is still in place.
As for agony, its already been mentioned a fed times in this thread to LotRO’s Radiance and WoW’s magical resistance being abandoned because it was hated in both communities.
If you want to please the hardcore PvE crowd trying to push their limits with better numbers and such why not separate it in a similar manner to that of sPvP? A separate gear tab for them in which they can acquire gear and utilize the mystic forge; just add new fractals every now and then as you add new spvp maps and there you have it.
A new tier of gear (1 item) was released that adds a whopping 3 more stats to current best gear. Apparently this a low blow to the community.
There are many many items that have been discovered/datamined showing a muuuch larger increase in stats, around 16% and thats without the infusions. Infusions give stats as well, then add to that the hours necessary for to grind out for such an item. It is a complete reversal on stance and design of the game on Anets part.
Many players that actually researched their purchase were glad to know there was a stat cieling that was easily obtainable and the progression was horizontal (skills, skins, content, puzzles, pvp maps, exploration etc.). To raise the ceiling and set the precedent for more to follow is a very bad thing. Theres a reason I stopped playing MMOs, I found big crits enjoying and addictive when i was a kid/teenager but as an adult I stopped caring a long time ago and saw it for what it was, an artificial content drive with no real value, if you make the monsters stronger and you get stronger you basically moved nowhere.
Then there are ignorant defenders such as yourself which are days and days behind the news.
WAY too much negativity from some people. It’s just a game for goodness sake. It’s not like having to get another tier of gear is going to screw your life over.
I for one agree with the OP. The new content is great! I love the new dungeon, spent 3 hours last night with guildies in that dungeon. Most fun I’ve had in a game for awhile. I’m also slowly saving up for T3 Cultural and am in the process of gearing up. So keen for what they do with Wintersday!
Well to be letdown after 5 years, it was also the only game of its kind. I’ve probably only logged on briefly to run an explorable to get a few tokens and get my pants. But virtually, since the announcement of ascended gear and now that they’ve been datamined and revealed how hard it will be to get them I’ve lost all urge to play and 5 years of love for this game has but vanished in one week.
The new content may be fantastic, I have no problem with the new content but the ascended gear and to a lesser extent agony. If they just lower it to exotic stats and make them unique skins I will jump right back and open my wallet for Anet, but as of yet it is sealed and they’ve lost me as a player for the most part.
2 days ago I finally got my first exotic set and I was SOOO happy. Now this! I really hope it doesnt take too long or get to be impossible to obtain the armor :‘( Dont break my heart Anet… but hey, if its good it’ll be good! But if its bad.. It’ll be bad… Only time will tell…..
Until tomorrow….
Some people have done the math on gw2hub and I have some bad news for you…
Anet specifically designed this gear for vertical progression and plan for it to last a loooong time.
Meh.
Depending on how different the stats are, it may bring me back to the game. Lack of gear progression is why i stopped played after hitting 80.
Were you not aware of what you were buying? They’ve stated multiple times to no gear progression.
Why does the gap have to be a tier higher of gear and not more cosmetics? Why not “ascended” cosmetics? It makes absolutely no sense that there needs to be a tier higher of gear. Frankly I’m disappointed in the response.
I mean it could be precursor (exotic) —> ascended weapon —>Legendary weapon. Leave it with the same stats but an evolving skin if you will. I feel like we’re not getting the full picture of why you’re doing this.
I find it very hard to believe that any new content you create requires a boost in stats.
I can’t recall when a game made me so feel so shattered and angry. This game felt like it was crafted perfectly for me, I could get the max stats with ease and the only variable after any of that in any situation, be it pve or pve, was skill.
I will not tolerate any more increase in stats, I’ve had 10 years of this garbage and I signed up for GW2 precisely for the horizontal progression. I will not log on or give you one more cent from my wallet until I see these ascended items vanish. The players that wanted a gear ladder cried very loudly but for the most part they are all gone AND ARE NEVER COMING BACK. Stay true to your design philosophy, remove these kitten items.
If not the only thing I will ascend from is guild wars 2 itself.
