I think a good fix to this solution would be to just have more shared participation spots. I think the 30+ hour commitment is reasonable in comparison to PvE stuff. Raids take time to learn, Fractals require grinding out levels/agony/ascended armor. WvW has rank. The reason why I say increase the shared slots is it would allow players to sell PiPs for that kind of instant gratification. I mean people can sell raid bosses, you can gems → gold for all the stuff fractals need. To keep it in line I think an increase in shared slots would be nice so that more dedicated WvW guilds can get some increased funding (WvW is not a cheap thing). This would put it in line with other game mode options and remove the need for PvE based people to actively engage in the game mode for rewards.

Someone sent me the link of this thread and said I was required here… This is pure gold.
Nice to see you endorse this behavior….. real nice. Genuine Lord of the Flies.
What? People paid for their tag, so they have to right to use them as they see fit… People who don’t like it can either try to find another commander or community that accept them, or get a tag themselves and be different. However, the OP do not want to take any of these options and want to Arena Net intervene in somenthing that really isn’t necessary.
People have a right to play the game as well. It isn’t like finding a new group is that easy with the recent patches increasing WvW exposure. During prime time all the maps are queued. At that point they can’t just find another map/commander. Also if people start to randomly tag it can lead to some confusion in larger fights.
Secondly guilds decid to stack maps during reset in order to lock out randoms from joining the map. I think that open squads would be a good change for making WvW a bit more inclusive, maybe some off hours (Anet has the data) closed squads would be ok. I mean if you don’t like it you can just do something else right?

Just join TS anyway. Turn it on so they can see ur there but mute ur mic. A lot of commanders dont care if u dont speak, they often say u dont have to talk, just listen. They dont need to know u are deaf and wont even know u cant hear them… Not many people talk that much on TS anyway, a lot have their mics muted.
I don’t think this is a viable option. I did try joining TS once but got kicked out of squad still. Apparently they do random checks to make sure people are listening due to spies from other servers. While I think that would work in some cases, I don’t think that is the right solution.
I agree with this. The WvW environment has become extremely hostile to anything new. This is only amplified by the new patch I do not see any roamers, everyone is either in a zerg or guarding territories for gliding buffs. That alone is enough reason to revert this gliding patch. I digress though.
I have noticed an overall trend in this game to be more exclusive. I like to try new things and test them but nobody ever gives me a shot. In WvW I wanted to try out a full minstrel engineer (using all turrets). I made this build around the experimental turret trait. I attempted to join up during NA prime time, waited in queue like everyone else but no squad let me in. I messaged a few of the tags explaining my build and still nothing. I would prefer complete open squad in which a decline can only occur if full. Guilds already have an advantage to squad creation because the can communicate on TS/Discord so everyone can join. Maybe to prevent abuse have a vote kick function like WoW. Each person could only vote on kicking maybe every 2 hours so it can’t be abused.
Furthermore I think this concept should expand into the PvE as well. I get tired of being kicked from raid groups solely based on LI. I was a mythic WoW raider that just swapped to GW2. I get these mechanics, I don’t want to farm VG over and over. Also, just like WvW, raid groups only want meta builds. This removes any possible testing that can be done. Why can’t I bring in my reaper? Anet says all classes are viable in raids , the leaders are just being elitist bullies at this point. To encourage more inclusive groups I think you should only be able to form a raid squad in LA. Then you have to pick the raid you want and it makes it public. At that point anyone should be free to join the raid regardless of class/LI. I get certain comps are necessary so maybe players need to have thresholds (healing power/etc) that allows them to choose tank/heals and fill that role (again WoW did this for LFR and that is a nice inclusive raiding environment). Again the vote kick feature could be used here with an internal voting timer of 1-2hrs. This would allow veterans to teach new players and get more people raiding. A win-win to me.
Also overlapping both of these issues is the TS argument. I don’t think raiding or WvW should have mandatory TS. I get headaches from using a headset and can’t really talk due to roommates. I watched videos online, I get the mechanics and movement of WvW/Raiding. Why do I need to listen to others? I just think it is unnecessary.
Thoughts?
