I suppose it depends on how you see your character/s.
I know to some people their character is a representation of themselves in the game world, so they not only play their own gender but typically only play humans (or races that look like humans) and try to make the character look and act like them.
I do pretty much the opposite – to me they’re characters in a story, no different to if I was writing a book or acting out a play. They are fundamentally not me so there’s no reason for them to look or act like me. Instead I think about the kind of person I want to make and ‘match’ everything to that. I’m equally liked to make a male or female character (in GW2 I currently have 5 females and 4 males).
My 1st/main character is usually female, but thats because she’s usually a recreation of the same character I play in all western RPGs (obviously race, class and skills will change between games but the overall theme is the same. But the only other thing she has in common with me is that when possible I give her waist length hair, but hers is black and straight instead of brown and frizzy like mine.
As for how people treat female characters honestly the most common problem I have is people assuming I’m male regardless of the character. Sometimes I correct them, sometimes it’s not worth mentioning. I’ve very rarely had anyone hit on me or otherwise act appropriately. (And once when it did happen, in a different game, I was not only playing a male character but playing an old, overweight, heavily scared guy with one eye and a grumpy expression. That was odd…dunno if they were into that or just flirting with everyone.)
Sometimes, when people tell me it happens all the time, I wonder if it’s just that I don’t try to make my female characters pretty. It was weird when I realised that – I certainly don’t try to make them unattractive either but pretty certainly isn’t my first concern (and according to my husband the results are mixed). Or maybe it’s the way I act when I’m playing them, or the people I talk to. I don’t know, but it’s certainly extremely rare for people to either try to flirt or to give me a hard time for playing a female character.

Space… I maintain that the next expansion will take place in space. The new thing will be spaceship mounts. The new elites will be Astro-Knight (Warrior), Spacelord (Guardian), Dark-Star (Rev), Space-Cowboy (Engineer), Xenomaster (Ranger), Warp-Rider (Thief), Photonicaster (Mesmer), Cryomage (Necro) and Red-Shirt (Ele).
Some of my recent pieces of gw2 art. Each of thsee were done with a simplistic program on my phone.
Piece one shows the profile of my Charr, Veshura.
Piece two shows a blue toned Mesmer of mine, Aionios.
Piece three is a silhouette of my Necromancer, Thianatos, followed by her Shadow.
Piece four is my favorite, and oldest project. It shows all five commanders for my wip “Commanders’ Squad”. Each character is property of my designers and I. Sukala Hellstorm designed by Eribban Kreigrender. Arnaldr the Immortal by me. Helori of Noon by Axivoni. Veradis Dawson by Lonely Capt. Stevens. Apprentice Eoddux by Nehfas.
(Edit added piece 5)
Piece five is of Veradis Dawson in her Celestial Avatar state, but instead of the night time stars and galaxy look, I wanted to make her appear more sunny and warm.

So, as a new player I recently fell in love with Tybalt Leftpaw’s character; completed a questThe Battle of Claw Island and immediately had to sit down and draw my favourite apple-loving charr.
I’m still very new to the game, and drawing charr is incredibly difficult, so I hope I did well! This is actually a mock-up for a watercolour painting I plan to work on at a later date.
Anyways, enough rambling and on to the cider.

I was really happy to see this.
Many years ago I created a character for a very unique RP forum, one where your character could be literally anything (including a pikachu with a space station, a giant goliath bird-eating spider, a sentient glob of goo and the god of insanity).
My character, for reasons I won’t go into now, was a genetically engineered hybrid of my normal RPG character (a DnD half-elf), a cat and a bat.
As you can probably imagine she got shelved when circumstances lead me to move away from player-run RP to computer RPGs because I thought I’d never be able to make a character like that.
And that was true. Until today.
Below is the only picture I can find of the original character, and my brand new GW2 re-creation, using my main who is one of the latest incarnations of the one who originally inspired this girl.

A beautiful Charr is a joy to behold. And with cat ears, even more beautiful.
ANet may give it to you.
A word of caution for people considering sending gifts. I have been fairly active in sending gifts when I could because I enjoy it and someone else helped me out for my one request. That said, I’m guessing here, but maybe 1/4 of the people I have sent gifts to updated their post to note they received what they asked for. The rest never even bothered to update their request post stating they have received some or all of what they asked for. On top of that I have seen many people post several requests and when they do they delete their previous request post to take advantage of generous people.
So if you decide to gift someone use caution because unfortunately there are people that are taking advantage of this thread. Also be very cautious of people that are asking for mats or gold as I’m fairly certain that some people are using alt accounts to make those types of requests. I think I can tell because their post style is almost identical to posts they have made from other alts.
Hopefully honest players can still benefit from this thread. Sadly I’m not going to gift anymore though because many requests are in my opinion shady. It’s too bad some people take advantage of such a nice thing and they should be ashamed of themselves for doing so.

Yo, since 4 years I’m complaining about it, it’s pretty annoying to use 30min food every time. In WvW for example you need to pay attention to have 5min food minimum left for the next fight, regardless if its a blobfight or 1on1. Just put up stacking food durations makes alot easier while prices of food should be the same, since the effects dont change and 1 hour food still has an advantage over 30min food. Set up the maximum at 24 hours and everyones happy. Thanks!
When I mentioned that there was a circus in the new area to my kid their immediate response was: “Is that connected to Caudecus?” I wouldn’t actually be surprised if the ‘good’ minister or his henchmen had a hand in it.
My suggestion is that all references to things that Paragon had in GW1 should be removed from the Dragonhunter, including names of skills/traits and all the animations, and have those reserved for a Paragon elite spec at a later time. And instead make the Dragonhunter focus only on hunter like things like detecting hidden enemies , trapping them and keeping them locked in place where you want them to stay while you and your team kill it off (it would fit alot better with the theme of traps and name of the spec Dragonhunter.)
I would very much want a Paragon elite spec where you focus more on bolstering allies, even if that is a thing that guardian is already good at, I think it could become even better at it with a Paragon elite spec. Where you could maybe give them chants and a weapon that allows them to stand in the center of the party instead of behind or on the frontline.
