Hey guys, just did notice something since I wanted to change the stats of my ascended caladbolg dagger using the known mystic forge recipe: I’m not able to select the respective Caladbolg Solana for the mystic forge. The same applies to the Caladbolg Iridi scepter.

Big question: is this a bug or is this intended since the skins are obtained in a special way?

tl;dr: yes, Rev is still viable, even in Condi, but it is probably not meta anymore as it has too many counters now.

Revenants are in a somehow tough spot since the last balance patch as one important retribution trait AND the Shiro Heal got nerfed. On the basis of this, two observations can be made: a) Stability now requires skill and sometimes a little luck, b) one major damage combo of Power Rev has been nerfed and requires better timing → more skill. Still, Power Rev – especially running invocation over retribution – is pretty viable against most of the classes running. The damage is still ridiculous and may be important burst damage in team fights. Also, Invocation offers some defensive capabilities now needed as Stability from Unwavering Avoidance is not guaranteed anymore. I sometimes also play Mallyx over Shiro as Boon Corruption, Resistance and a better heal work sometimes better than Shiro’s CC Elite, additional mobility and better burst damage. But that depends on the team’s compositions and personal preferences.

The obvious counters (Mesmer Condi Shatter, Guardians, well played Berzerk Warriors, sometimes boon corruption Necros) are still issues and will probably be longer. Additionally, since nerf of Unwavering Avoidance, Thiefs are really contagious now for Revenants.

But except for guardians, the counters can be handled by playing a variation of the old Condition Revenant, since so many people ignore Torment and Confusion. Right now I’m playing same traits as before with Mallyx/Herald combined Mace/Axe and Staff and its pretty fun out there. This combinations ensures incredibly high survivability and good condi burst against any class except for guardians since they can block nearly any attack – even if facerolling. Obvious counters: High Boon Corruption and chain cc. Still, I feel more comfortable with this build than with Power Rev. Also, it is a little harder to play than a Power Rev as it requires better energy management.

Conclusion: Power Revenant with Invocation over Retribution is still viable, but requires more concentration and less faceroll. Running Retribution costs a secured condition remove every 10 seconds which is really important now and just delivers a skillful stability boon. Condition Revenant seems more viable than expected and has fewer counters, but is harder to play and requires a high focus on defensive capabilities over big damage.

There pretty much is no viable build for mace aka Condi Rev in PvE. The most you can get is about 8k burning ticks (with full viper and corresponding runes/sigils that boost burning) which results in around 10-12k dps max. The main condition, Torment, is useless for PvE as Rev due to Melee use of Mace/Axe.

In PvP/WvW Roam on the other hand, Condi Rev is a great option as you spam 15-25 stacks of Torment if played right. Still, in PvE this is not sufficient as Torment only carries good damage while moving.

I feel with you as main Rev, I also would like one hell of a mace build, but when watching the recent year’s patch notes on Rev, I expect there never will be a good build Condiwise – or Rev-wise anyways….

All kinds of patches (damask patch, gaze patch, wool patch etc.). You always get 5 of them per crafting cycle – and if you don’t need them instantly, they just take up inventory space. Also, this way we might create some of them in advance instead of on demand.

The lag since the last patch is terrible.

I’m also having this issue since yesterday around lunch time – only game laggin’ is gw2… I noticed it might be correlated to the bloodstone boss events as the lag spikes (and DCs) increase as soon as such event is ready for action on certain maps…

Block rejoining a game pls

No matter what, it is rediculous to lose games in Ranked PvP if a player DCs, quits or is just afk. If the player is removed from game, he still is able to rejoin, which kills the “no pip loss”-situation. It is just a shame to lose progress because of such a crappy situation.

Also I have seen players to reroll to their alternative classes to finish achievements when close to winning – this is also a behaviour which should not be tolerated. Once you leave the game, you shall not be capable of rejoining, lose a pip and get dishonor (if you quit or were afk, DCs with dishonor is another crappy thing)

So pls pls pls block rejoining the game. It makes games fairer and will honor honest players for their games.

I strongly disagree! Even if this is/was the intention by Arenanet when introducing the achievement, it just doesn’t make sense as it would be nearly impossible (except for reaching legendary and just finishing it of multiple times) to get the legendary backpack during a single season. But during the last season, many players got it and so they got the achievement. It would be a shame if this change was never documented or even noted, so I assume it’s a bug. If not, a statement from Arenanet would be nice.

Hey everybody,

finally fought my way through to ruby division four and finally crossed 3 division thresholds. Which should mean that I should have gotten the “League Champion” achievement. Which I did not. Last season I went to emerald division and just got “League Recruit” achievement, but progress was also shown on “League Veteran”. This season, I finished “League Veteran”, but progress did not count on “League Champion”.

Question: Bug or feature? If feature, it’s very unfair as last season was enough for all players to get the legendary backpack if skilled enough. In this season, it would be not…

Dishonor for what?

same here, got 15 Minutes Dishonor even though I accepted the match, was just waiting for the last one. After timer ran out, I just got the message I was removed and ended up with dishonor…

yesterday, I had some strange behaviour, too, when my router crashed and I DCed. After the router had rebooted, I rejoined match, still got dishonor and match was classified as desertion….
