I think Signet of the Wild increases damage by 25%, read that on the forum somewhere.

Making the Tequatl fight more dynamic

Hi all, just a few thoughts and ideas regarding the fight against Tequatl.

Anet set up a great fight against this guy, with many layers and deep strategy, but unfortunately it seems the only way the fight ends up happening is with everyone up in his face beating on the poor guy because it’s the fastest way of doing it. Last time I fought him I tried to use one of the turrets only to find myself attacked by heaps of his minions and when I looked around to see why the turrets weren’t being defending I found everyone in the same spot right in front of him (which is where I’d also been every other time I fought him). I’d really like this stay-in-his-face strategy become much less effective and encourage the more dynamic fight that was intended. My ideas were:
Dramatically increase the damage caused by the turrets on Tequatl compared to attacking him normally. This would encourage people to not only use the turrets but also to protect people using them.
Make Tequatl much tougher to hurt unless he’s stunned by the super turret. This would encourage people to protect the super turret and only run in to attack him when he’s stunned.
Increase the number and strength of the explody people around Tequatl. To make fighting him face to face more difficult and have a division of people in his face attacking him vs attacking the explody people to defend them.

Those are my ideas to help make this the fight that it was supposed to be. Thanks.

Yeah I suppose it would be annoying if you’re not used to it. I’m guessing they changed it so people can more efficiently line up their next ability without ending the current one

Well, that was an aggressive reply.

As has already been suggested there could be a way to lock duel invites in the world, which would prevent harrassment.
And saying “it is not needed or is it even logical as there is no possible reason to do it other than you want to harass others.”? No, it is because of the reasons I’ve already said, i.e. watching the duels happen, building the sense of community and having a fun place to hang out, as well as role-playing.

I try to follow what ANet puts out but I must have missed them talk about implementing duelling, does anyone know if they’ll allow spectators?

I see what you’re saying, but I’ve never found that to be an issue in other games I’ve played, and given the community of this game (which is fantastic I have to say) I think that it’d be even less of an issue here. And as zubebuehler said, the ability to duel anywhere would be great for RPers.

If a particular area designated for dueling had to be a thing though I’d hope for it to simply be say an area of Lion’s Arch (perhaps a new area of the city), or perhaps one for each capital city, because that’d add to cities being social hubs and a great place to chill. Lion’s Arch always seems to send me to the overflow initially so unless they can allow more players in the area on a server then I suppose the latter may be more feasible.

Hi, I’m sure this has already been suggested by other players, but I (like many other players) would love to see the ability to duel/spar other players in the world and cities introduced to the game. I’m guessing that the reason it isn’t in the game is that the game designers believe it to go against the promotion of teamwork as opposed to competition between players on the same server, but I believe that it actually helps to strengthen the community, not set them against each other.
When I played World of Warcraft (I don’t like comparing GW2 to other games because it’s its own thing; this is just to illustrate a point) some of the best times I had were actually chilling outside the capital cities dueling and watching other players duel each other, and it was all in good fun, no one held grudges against each other and it helped to cement those online friendships. In addition to this it’s a great way to work out your strengths and weaknesses against other professions (and no one cared if specific classes weren’t balanced against other specific classes). Having these informal player designated dueling areas near the capital cities also helped promote the idea of the cities acting as social hubs for players.
For these reasons I would love to see this introduced to this great game.
