What happened to party play?

Here’s the problem,

All the speed runners, min/maxers, and zerker heavy onlys have chased the casual player base away from the dungeons.

ANet looks at their metrics and sees no one in the dungeons. They see that the TA:Aetherblade update was unsuccessful. Most players like myself did it once and will never do it again or simply passed on it. Meanwhile they look at Lion’s Arch and there’s 10k people doing it. You have an update that interests 10000 people at any given moment or one that interests maybe 50 people in total a day. Its not a very hard decision as to what’s better for business.

Not pointing the finger at you or anyone in particular but its the price that gets paid for being an kitten. Hardcore WvW guilds push players away, ANet stops doing WvW updates. sPvP players rip on people that play ele in tournies and rage quit on skyham, ANet stops doing PvP updates. In this case, the same is true for dungeons.

I hate how negative people are. After reading some of the posts in this thread I’m honestly a little annoyed at how horrible people are with taking quotes out of context and mocking them. I’ve never seen any other developers in any other game that I’ve played actually say that they’ve learned a lot and are going to change how they do business because they listened to player feedback.

Why do people constantly harp on the things Anet does wrong and never praise them for what they do right?

So you’ve never played another game then?

Every other game takes player feedback then makes changes. This game tells you their taking feedback then ignores it and pushes the same reskinned content out its been doing for the last 6 months.

Last I knew 1 was still greater than 0. But it’s been a few years since I graduated, maybe the rules of math have changed.

Is GW2 meant to appeal to only casuals?

Most of the things you mentioned have nothing to do with being casual.

Time gating benefits no one, hardcores hate it because it diminishes what they can do in a day, casuals hate it because everyday they can’t login is a day they fall further behind.

Skins being available for cash isn’t necessarily aimed at casuals either. It’s aimed at people with disposable income. I know many a casual player that are poor and can’t afford the fluff of the gem store.

The Liadri mini was for skilled players and could have been attained in under an hour. Again, not a measurement of hardcore or casual.

But to answer your question, the days of exclusive content are over. No one likes a braggart especially one that sits in front of his computer all day eatting junk food and growing fat. There’s no accomplishment in that.
