Damage Calculations: Prec-&Crit.Chance-Issues

Hello together!

Simply put, I’ve built an Excel-Spreadsheet that uses different Character-Attributes to calculate the most powerful ratio between Power, Precision, Ferocity, etc., a few months ago. Since A-Net has now increased the Base-Stats from 916 to 926, I had to update the calculations and did some brief research on Precision and Critical Chance.
I don’t want to go into details, but I noticed that the calculation on Gw2-Wiki seems to be wrong.

The given formula for Crit.Chance is: Critical Chance = (Precision – 832) / 21.16

Here a few calculations using that formula:
927 Precision: Critical Chance = (927-832)/21.16 = 4.49 -> 4%
928 Precision: Critical Chance = (928-832)/21.16 = 4.54 -> 5%

948 Precision: Critical Chance = (948-832)/21.16 = 5.48 -> 5%
949 Precision: Critical Chance = (949-832)/21.16 = 5.53 -> 6%

1858 Precision: Critical Chance = (1858-832)/21.16 = 48.49 -> 48%
1859 Precision: Critical Chance = (1859-832)/21.16 = 48.54 -> 49%

However, these values don’t fit the displayed stats on the Hero-Panel:
http://imgur.com/a/KXwCK
As you can see, the jumps from 4% to 5%, 5% to 6% and 48% to 49% are not at the calculated Precision-values.

Now, I’m not extremely blessed with mathematical skills, but I think we cannot calculate a precise formula with the given data, because we don’t know if a value is e.g. 44.68 or 45.42, since both are displayed as 45%.

Also, I want to use the chance to ask if Gw2 uses a rounded or the exact value to make out whether to critically hit or not.
In other words: If we calculated a Crit.Chance-value of 67.2574% which, obviously, is displayed as 67%, will I critically hit 67%, 67.25%, 67.2574% or whatever % of the hits?

Doing research on my own would cost way too much time and nerves.

Of course, the differences won’t change the results entirely, but I’d love to have exact and confirmed formulas in my spreadsheet. That’s why I want to ask A-Net to give us/me the exact formula for the Critical Chance-Calculation.

Thanks in advance and happy calculating.

PS:
I (now) put this post into the Dungeon-Section, because I’m sure the only players who have put some serious thought into the topic are to be found in the Dungeon-Community – I hope you guys can deliver the best answers if A-Net can’t/doesn’t answer me here.

Arah-Guild Dhuum Stucker [DS] is recruiting!

in Looking for...

Hello, community!

Dhuum Stucker [DS], was originally founded in GW1 as a high-end speed clear community, which was known to include the best players in the SC scene and as a guild, we achieved several world records throughout the game. We are based on EU servers, and our current core all live in Germany.

Today, those days are over. Many of our old-timers could not find the motivation to play GW2, others have quit gaming all together after their glory in Guild Wars 1, and others have joined other communities throughout GW2. Today, there are just three of us left. But we are dedicated to rebuilding [DS], to achieve the same glory in GW2, as we achieved in GW1. In the past ten months, we have learned more about dungeons throughout the game, and we now specialize in Arah.

However through all of this, we have still maintained our ideals of fast and efficient runs, and our motivation to obtain world records. Because of this, we have some very achievable requirements that we expect potential candidates to meet:

Basically, we expect that anyone wishing to join has at least a basic understanding of the game, and their own class. This doesn’t mean that we expect you to know Arah or another dungeon inside and out – we are of course willing to provide a large part of our knowledge to provide training to help yourself improve, or to meet our highest standards. We are looking for players who do not need weeks of training to recognize and respond to simple animations properly, players who have natural ability or determination to learn, that we can help train into some of the best players in the game.

As mentioned, our goal is having quick and clean runs. To achieve this, we are looking for players who already have a Warrior, Mesmer, or Guardian, and at least know how to play the class at a basic level. We expect that any potential recruits are not shy to melee any boss, regardless of its size or power. You should not be playing with PVT gear, but only Berserker equipment, while having the necessary skills to survive with it. If you’re the kind of person who cries about skipping trash because you miss out on two silver, [DS] is not the guild for you.

Furthermore, we expect our members to have a similar mentality to us. We will not form with with those who idolize ANet without any question, the three of us have our own opinions about the developers, and we can imagine being in constant arguments with ‘blind fanboys’. We also expect that members have the tolerance to not rage and flame people for not being able to do things such as not being able to solo Lupicus. However, we are not looking for players who do not have the heart to kick Pugs after 30 minutes of continuous dying. Our members should be fair, but there are limits to how tolerant you should be.

Finally, I want to point out a few things that are important to us.
We dont want to be abused by players who wish to just farm their two/three sets of Arah armour and then leave without a word. Our aim is to encourage players to make the best of the services we are providing, to better themselves as players, and to help us make the guild into the best of the best. This may seem excessive, but that’s what we have already done in the past.

We do not expect 100% representation and you are not required to join us on our home server, Elona Reach, we hope to gain as much exposure and inclusion as we can this way. Either way, you should be representing as much as you can.

If you have any inquiries about the guild, please contact ‘Pepsi Krieger’ with any questions, opinions, doubts you may have, or even just to ask about applying! Therefore I want to ask you to send me an ingame mail, even when I’m online (makes things less complicated) – I will contact you as soon as possible. I speak both German and English, so feel free to message me with whatever language you are more comfortable with!

Sincerely,

Pepsi
