Boots become helmets

I found the same bug on my ranger a couple days ago. I hadn’t logged into the character in a while, so I doubt it was something player-triggered. They were standard 80 exotic berserker boots transmuted as “stalker boots” as labeled in the wardrobe. Strange anomaly, to be sure.

Edit. It also changed the exotic soldier boots in my inventory, same story.

Looking for [NA] group content guild.

Persephone.2074

I’m interested in finding a guild within the range of serious to competent, active in some of the group content that exists and will be upcoming for gw2. I’m based on Crystal Desert [NA] with no imminent plans to change, though this is not directly a WvW related post. I’m mostly interested in groups that have some experience and activity with dungeons, fractals, and soon to be raids. Can run the gamut between friendly and no-nonsense as long as things can be civil and non-hostile.

Details about me to follow for any that are still reading.

I could probably be considered a veteran player: 6000+ hours, 20k+ ap, 8 classes, some legendaries, and lots of experience under my belt. Sounds like boasting to have to list it, but that’s not my intention. My least used game mode is spvp, my favorite is wvw, and my most commonly played is likely pve. I’m not stuck to any particular class or playstyle. I have seen and completed a bit of everything, but I wouldn’t profess to being “hardcore.”

Despite playing a lot, my guild associations have been fairly limited and largely only for social reasons. Doing content such as dungeons and fractals has mostly been a pug experience for me, as my guilds were not terribly active or large. While pugs aren’t always bad, I appreciate a smooth experience over a bad one. HoT presents some unique opportunities to expand upon guild functionality for me (without feeling like I’m neglecting other guilds), and I felt that players organized for content were what I lacked most.

Any guilds that feel they meet these criteria and are hoping to bolster their membership are free to contact me however they see fit. I’ll try to check the forum for replies, but in-game communication or mail is fine as well. Thanks for reading.

Only 2 mastery points during BWE #3?

This is definitely a confusing topic that none in the beta have been able to answer. I’d like to know if arenanet intended the mastery point limitation or not.

Personally, I’ve got all the experience for my next 2 mastery tiers (1 gliding, 1 mushroom), but without any way to spend points, I don’t have a reason to gain exp either. Was hoping I could at least work on those while they iron out the ui problems.

Clarification would be appreciated.

A few bugs to point out for druid with the quick draw grandmaster:
It’s working well with old weapons now, and stacking with cd reduction traits, but does not reduce cooldown for staff skills with or without primal echoes, on any skill. Quick draw also does not affect celestial skills, but that’s likely intentional.

However, quick draw will proc and work on a non-staff weapon when exiting from celestial form, as though it were a weapon swap. It does not trigger when entering celestial form.

Staff traits need to be condensed somehow. Trait changes for most classes seemed to be really on the ball with giving condensed and precise traits for certain weapons, but necromancer is suffering from a triple spec divide for general staff usefulness: curses “terrormancer” would always employ staff for the extra fear, death magic greater marks is necessary for radius and marginal for unblockable, and soul reaping has gained soul marks, the half condensed trait. Granted, not all staff users need terror to be effective, but as a condition-heavy weapon it’s hard to justify using it without the curses spec.

Soul marks and greater marks can be condensed, or something made baseline. The need for death magic just for radius is particularly bad, especially for necromancers that do not run minions. I believe the original pairing of staff with death magic came from very old iterations where minions would not heal and required the regen from mark of blood for some kind of weak sustain, but minions have changed; staff traits have not. Traits that rely on staff should relocate to at least 2 specs, if not 1, for there to be any hope of build choice there.

This is sad, it is. But you have to know that as many already said, we can’t control compensation. Just don’t make them remove this, because ‘you’ think you are ‘losing’ something.

That is the attitude a lot of people are bringing to this thread that haven’t even been effected. They need to defend the wardrobe feature and advocate that it not be removed. But I can assure you that anyone that made two legendaries wanted two legendaries. They wanted what the wardrobe will accomplish. There’s no need to defend it. Compensation is difficult, but I think we should continue to discuss solutions. Consider removing the wardrobe off the table, no worries.

Some people could have save gold by getting only one and skinning the second, but this change doesn’t have any negative feedback by itself. Some people’s ego is getting hurt, but that’s because of their pessimist perception of things.

This isn’t a question of ego for a lot of players. This isn’t a comparison to how other people have it easier, or really any comparison to the rest of the player base. Nor is it an economic thing. The situation is plain and personal: some made a 2nd skin, at great cost, and then Arenanet gave it to us for free at a later date. I thank them for that, as it was the goal all along, but it leaves us with a great deal of wasted time and effort to reflect on.

Especially since that would raise an uproar from people that spent real life money on Gem items such as Majory’s daggers and/or armors and crap-ton of people that bought T3 for multiple toons.

Support is already being discussed for gem store refunds. I am one of the people that bought many, many cultural armors, but I don’t really mind that. I think if Anet had any line to draw across “what can we consider compensating” it would start with legendaries. They do not compare to other investments.

Well, with the latest news for account bound legendaries, not only is having a 2nd Twilight not benefiting me as a skin, but the idea of it still being valuable because of stat changes is also being thrown out. People asking for some way to address this problem are not trying to game the system. It’s a legitimate concern. Try to keep it constructive.

I have no issues with people creating “copies” of a legendary, in fact I think it’s a great feature. I don’t think you need special perks for a character that it is soulbound to. But had the wardrobe been known sooner, I would not have made two. One would be sufficient.

Players who dual wield the same legendary only receive the aura/footsteps from their main hand. A person with 2 incinerators would still appear identical to one with a legendary and a copy of it under the proposed system.

This is not a discussion about skins for a legendary duplicated by the wardrobe system, but on players with multiple, identical legendaries before it was announced.

A discussion on solutions:
The simplest solution I have come across is to keep Legendaries out of the wardrobe entirely. This is apparently not what Arenanet wants, or they would not be implementing the wardrobe. I do not agree with this solution either: my goal was, and still is, to acquire pretty skins for my characters, and Legendaries are a big part of that. Sharing my Twilight skin is exactly what I already set out to do, the problem being that now the wardrobe and I are competing at the same goal. Furthermore, Legendaries in the wardrobe is an exciting feature that motivates me to create more (different) Legendaries. It may even inspire players that have settled on only one character because of their Legendaries to expand into other classes and alts.

A second solution proposed is to compensate players for redundant Legendaries. Economically, this would be impossible to implement, as no one could agree on what a fair price is. Arenanet could unbind those soulbound Legendaries and let the market decide their value, but due to the market changing, especially over the course of 16+ months, this doesn’t seem to be a fair option either.

A third solution would be to allow players to change existing duplicate Legendaries to another of their choice. Although “not all Legendaries are created equal” in terms of their cost, keeping them bound to their respective characters (meaning unsellable) or to the account if necessary would drop this concern. I believe that players create a Legendary to use because they like it, not because of any economic reasons; they are already too expensive to pick up unless you enjoy it. Choosing a different legendary in its place would essentially be a downgrade, a second choice. While not completely fair, it seems to be the closest thing to compensation Arenanet could offer.

I will advocate the third solution proposed until a better one arises. I have created this thread specifically because the only discussions I have seen on the forum were complaint-oriented and aggressively “gimme.” Offer any constructive criticisms, new solutions, or shared experiences below.

This topic is in regards to the peculiar case of players who have crafted 2 of the same legendary before the announcement of the wardrobe, either on separate characters or for dual wielding on the same character.

My background:
Ever since teasers of closed beta footage, I have been enthralled at the prospect of creating a legendary. The gs in particular caught my attention. Just shy of gw2’s anniversary, I was able to complete my Twilight. I was so happy with the skin that 4 months later I made another, gifting it to a separate character. I was excited with the idea of one day acquiring a legendary for each character. My warrior got my 2nd Twilight, with eager plans to work toward a lighter Sunrise for my guardian. Some of my peers thought it a bit daft to re-create the same sword, especially since I had the opportunity to form an Eternity with comparable materials, but my goal was never to pimp out one character with teh leets; I wanted to share my prettiest skins among all my characters. Acquiring a 2nd Twilight makes no change to the legendary collector achievement, but I still had no regrets.

My opinions on the wardrobe:
This is a system I have long been looking forward to. I have always been driven by cosmetic rewards, and my fascination with playing all classes of the game (I really do play 8 characters) kept it a long, expensive, and satisfying process. I never felt like I was lacking a goal. The wardrobe is offering exactly what a player like me is excited for: storage, convenience, and a catalog for the acquisition of favorite skins. But despite my excitement for the new system, I became disheartened by what it meant for me and the choices I have made as a player. Sharing my Twilight skin across my characters is exactly what I, as a player, had been trying to accomplish. I wouldn’t take it out for the world. But this design has also made my efforts redundant, even wasteful. If my warrior gets to share the skin anyway, why did I spend so much time and energy to make it again? Legendaries got a feature update shortly after I had made my first, allowing for updated and changeable stats, but of course that was never my motivation for making one; I just loved the look. The addition of transmutation splitters to any player that had crafted a legendary makes me trust that Anet believe legendaries are an important feature of the game.

A number of flaws in this criticism:
Firstly, much of the game is being made account based. Dyes, skins, and WvW ranks (I hope) will all be made to be accessed by any character, and there will inevitably be a lot of overlap. If this is to be recognized and addressed as an issue, a line needs to be drawn somewhere. Personally, I have acquired the same tier 3 cultural armors on multiple characters several times, even among the same character for different gear sets. This is an extreme example of why redundancy is a problem, but it can be applied anywhere. I might as well have only acquired one. The change to dyes has already sparked controversy, and some players want even more compensation than is already being provided (free, unidentified dye per redundancy). However, there is no easy method to compensate all the redundant skins that will be coming with the wardrobe. Economic compensation is especially problematic, as the market of the game is always in motion. There can be no fair and standard price for what someone acquired today, yesterday, or 16 months ago. Because of these complications, why should Arenanet be inclined to compensate anything? Well, I wouldn’t begrudge them all the armor, but it is my hope that they will draw the line at redundant Legendaries. If they disallow the Legendary problem to be addressed on the basis that it still provides mechanical functionality (stat swapping), then I feel that they would be disregarding why so many play this beautiful game: the fun and value of cosmetics. Many players picked up their Twilight when it was no stronger than a Ghastly Greatsword.

Giver's Inscription - Condition Duration Bug

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Persephone.2074

Persephone.2074

Short version: condition duration items and stats do nothing/are bugged.

Long version: I was excited to see the introduction of condition duration gear when I found a recipe for Giver’s Orichalcum-Imbued Inscription in a gift today. I gave it to my Artificer and immediately made an 80 exotic “Giver’s Pearl Rod” (scepter) for the purposes of testing, and what I had hoped was use. To test it I equipped it, of course, on my 80 Necromancer. Dummies in Lion’s Arch cannot be inflicted with conditions and so I sought various random mobs in different locations test the effects. Tooltips remained unchanged, but they are commonly inaccurate anyway. What I found bothered me: condition duration was unaffected by the new scepter. I made certain that it was not being overridden or conflicted by other sources through repeated tests. Normally I have 20% condition duration from traits, 4% and 6% from Nightmare rune bonuses, and 10% bleed duration from an offhand Sigil of Agony. Testing proved that all of these sources stack together nicely, on weapon and utility skills which inflicted conditions. But even naked and traitless I was unable to receive any benefit from the 10% condition duration listed for a “Giver’s” 1hand weapon: it’s not interfering with anything; it just provides no benefit at all.

I was tempted to do more tests with other weapons/classes to confirm if this is the fault of a specific item/class, but it’ll cost me more and benefit me none until it is fixed. I hope it is fixed, as condition duration (and boon duration from armor as far as I know) seem like niche stats which would make a fun addition to certain builds in the future. Hope this helps, and happy Wintersday.

Female Norn Greatsword Running Animation

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Persephone.2074

Persephone.2074

I noticed recently that my female norn warrior has begun running with her greatsword out with the posture of a single-handed weapon combination (such as sword/shield), rather than a 2 handed gs. The back is upright and the left arm is bent at the elbow characteristic of dual wields. My guardian, who is human female, was unaffected by this change. It seems to have slipped in with the halloween update, and it has made her look awkward to say the least. The weapon used to seem heavy, but now it bobs up and down lightly. Since this was only a recent change, I hope it can be reverted.
