I think that having more variety to GW2 pvp would be excellent (Random Arenas were endlessly fun, I agree) but the rewards expand the matchmaking playerbase so that players like me that are terrible at pvp but still enjoy it and want to get better have people to play against that won’t just roflstomp them. Which has happened lately, as the diamond tier players climb out of amber again. A lack of rewards would make pvp less enticing, especially as it makes losing less frustrating (at least I got something out of a 100-500 game). Maybe that doesn’t matter as much to some players, but my win rate is ~40% (if I am optimistic. It’s probably closer to 30)
As a a player who ironically loves pvp’ing and yet seems to be stuck in amber, I hate the idea of metal pips. It would…dissipate the skill aspect of the ranking. When I go up, I want to earn it, to know that my skill level is similar to my team and my opponents. YEah it sucks to get matchmade with an inferior team, but I think metal pips would break it even more. At least now I know when I do move up, I’ll likely be with better players than I am now.
Also, regarding the backpiece, besides the fact that I am less than fond of its appearance, I am okay with a few items in the game that are potentially beyond my skill to obtain. I think it’s healthy, gives us something to work for in a game where most of the content isn’t that hard. Who doesn’t want a motivation to get better?

I’d like to see some hints at the distant future of guildwars, I vaguely remember reading once that this was a possibility.
Heck, why not a glider fractal where gliders now carry weapons and each class has themed glider abilities…like engi gets heat seeking missiles, mesmers create gliding clones…I think there’s some randomness potential there.
On a more realistic note, I’d like to learn more about the intervening period between gw2 and gw1, as well as the forgotten. It’d be neat to see the forgotten with glint and how they were led to become the shining whatevers.
Or maybe we could just be wyverns destroying the pact fleet. That’d be fun too.
and where did the mursaat come from anyway? So many unanswered questions.
