We might as well be posting quotes from ‘Mutiny on the Bounty’ for all the attention and feedback we’re getting.
Now that’s a nice picture for it. So far, I nicknamed the [Merged] treads “wailing wall”. For one, because of the wailing. But also, because as an atheist, my expectations regarding postings here and prayers before a wall of inanimate stone being answered are about the same. Zilch.
Compared to GW1, ectos are easy to come by. I remember the only Underworld run I ever did. In the entire run across all members exactly 1 ecto dropped. And those runs take forever. Unfortunately we wiped shortly before we reached the chest that would have rewarded all of us with ectos.
This comparison is, unfortunately, completely invalid. I wish it wasn’t, but it is.
Why?
As I understand, in GW, you didn’t need ectos. You could get the best equipment in the game (or equipment with the maximum stat-budget) rather easily and without ecto-farming.
If you farmed ectos, it was therefore just for fluff. It was truly optional as in “just for looks and the fun of it” optional not the new GW2-optional as in “you don’t have to do it because there’s still a few parts of the game left open for you if you don’t do it.”
TL;DR: GW1 ectos: for looks only, grind acceptable. GW2 ectos: needed for max-stat exuipment, grind unacceptable.
Folks, you approach this issue from the wrong angle.
Mobs are respawning so fast, you’re still in attack-range to them when they do so. So you think that the respawn-timers are wonky. They’re not. Let me explain:
Arenanet has crafted a game that caters to all types of players.
You want a smooth experience, killing one mob after the other and leaving the area before they return? Do as I do, play a warrior and pick up a greatsword. You’ll be long gone before respawn. You’re basically killing the respawn before it appears on the map, that’s how much damage you deal while save and sound in your heavy armor.
If, on the other hand, you want a more challenging gameplay, you play anything but a warrior. Just as I do, coincidentaly. My mage (excuse me, elementalist) is squishy. The spec is semi glass-cannon (20 in water to have some utility) all exotic but trinkets, CoF-DPS gear mostly, mixed with crafted DPS gear. Damage output is still abysmal compared to the warrior, though. I’d say 1/2 to (at best) 2/3. And not only can’t I kill stuff quickly, should it get in range to hit me, im dead in seconds.
If you (like, incidentally, me) fail to see the beauty in these nicely tuned tiers of difficulty, I really don’t know how to help you. Respawn too fast for you? Re-roll warrior. You die too often? Why are you still not playing guardian? As you can see, it’s all your own fault.
</sarcasm>
the difference between taking 8k dmg a second as opposed to 4k, is that you can outheal the 4k dmg a second.
How is this so hard to understand?
Every opinion is equally valuable in the eyes of the clueless who thus cannot refrain to comment on issues revolving around numbers despite their complete lack of mathematical understanding.
I also hope this will never happen. If they remove the money gains from the box purchases, they will have to compensate through the item shop. The last thing I want in GW2 is a greedy item shop like all those trash F2P games have.
And what exactly should they do to encourage more gem to gold exchange? Remove loot from kills entirely? (see that other thread for what I mean)
On the bright side, the current loot solves the problem of “F” being bound to loot and revive and everything else. While looting during events used to be a good thing to do, it’s OK to wait until it’s over now that hardly any bodies sparkle anymore.
See, everyone complained about “F”, Arenanet fixed it and you’re unhappy again! </sarcasm>
16 Green Wood Logs -> Soft Wood Log
14 Soft Wood Logs -> Seasoned Wood Log
12 Seasoned Wood Logs -> Hard Wood Log
8 Hard Wood Logs -> Elder Log
4 Elder Logs -> Ancient Wood LogOnly 86016 Green Wood Logs for one Ancient Wood Log. Seems doable.
People suck at math.
It’s becoming a problem only when game developers (that includes pen & paper RPGs) that create numbers-based systems can’t do math. In my experience, most can’t.
Also the drop rate has NOT been nerfed or w/e. Its called a drop chance so you have a chance to get an item or not. So its all luck. One day you can loot 3 exotics and the next day you’ll loot nothing. Get used to it or go play something else.
Wow.
I mean, wow.
This has to be the most mathematically uninformed thing I’ve ever read on the internet so far. Wow. shakes head and weeps
Mob loot is broken.
Economy is broken.
The inflation is skyrocketing. The money I saved up is quickly being devalued.
So much for “we respect the player” or “we respect the players’ time”. The time I put in saving up gold before 11/15 has just been devalued.
