Hello,
The past week I have been all over this forum looking for things to try to increase my FPS. I have adjusted the config file, tried hundreds of different settings, tried installing QuartX11 stuff and all sort of other items. When i would boot it up, it would have a nice 30-40 fps, then suddenly drop to nothing. maybe averaging out to 10-15 fps.
This is a Early 2011 mbp with 16 gig of ram. Now i play on a 55" LED TV so i thought that was the problem…. untill…
I put a piece of plastic under the MBP and voila, my FPS shot up to 70, from 15 on lowest settings. Jacked most things up to medium, and I’m rocking a nice 40 FPS.
So in short, put something under the MBP to allow it to breath. It makes such a huge difference. It stops throttling down the processor or something.
TLDR: MBP overheating and throttling down the processor or something. 50+ FPS increase just by allowing it to cool down by putting something under it.
