However, I see your point: You are asking, “Do I need to purchase the expansion to continue playing Guild Wars 2?” The answer to that is “No.” You can continue to play Guild Wars 2 with the expansion or without. You can play Guild Wars 2 and add the expansion when it is released or later, if that’s your choice.

awesome, thanks for quick response. this is really great since i probably wont be able to get it on launch but still would like to play gw2 while i’m getting heart of thorns

will we have to buy it to play guild wars 2 or will we be still able to play guild wars 2 without expansion like now?
