This is digusting , especially considering how lacklustre rewards have been including raids. Anet you should be ashamed of yourselves . I hope your greed and the broken state of this xpac turns people away .
Elite Specializations & Hero Point Feedback [Merged]
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Given the even split between those that love and hate the expansion i think its important that all player express their opinion with constructive feed back.
Thank you to Colin for reassuring the player base that they are indeed listening despite the xpac only being out for 3 days.
I think personally from what ive experienced with the xpac the difficulty of mobs its good , they’re hard they’re aren’t skill 1 spammers, its good to be challenged just not all the time. you shouldn’t feel like every 10m is a struggle so maybe the density that you stumble across them could be better.
I liked silverwastes and their style of map just not all the time , i also enjoyed the more open exploration side of the core game and i feel like that has been lost to an extent with the expansion.
Gating the story behind masteries i don’t think was a mistake as such i think so long as the required amount isn’t excessive , This is also true for the elite specialisations.
Personally i care very little for mine as i think the druid is about as useful long term as an ashtray on a motorcycle but i feel that many people want to play their elite specs and through the new content.
Maybe the best solution is to set a high number of hero points just not 400 high?
maybe 250 is more reasonable?
Lastly i feel that gating some hero points behind champs may sound like great idea for people to group up and work together but eventually maguuma is going to be old content and finding people to do the hero challenges will be harder for solo players , what will happen then for the long term?
Maybe the best solution is to slide the difficulty of the mobs at hero challenges a little further south , at the very least get rid of the awful timers. These are champs not world events like teq or TT.
Anyway im sure many will agree and disagree with all i say but as stated in the beginning i think its important every player has their opinion voiced and constructive feedback heard so that the game has a better chance to move forward in the right direction. Considering how 50 / 50 the community is split at the moment i don’t envy your jobs , good luck
i think over all today after twitch com is a mixed bag for rangers.
On one hand the druid spec is amazing , completely useless in current pve but sure to be a fav in raids and WvW in coming time , personally im salty because i hate playing healers and a healer isnt what i mained a ranger for but i can see the strengths and merits of the spec and at least i can look towards enjoyable specs from next xpac onwards.
On the new pets we are getting WOW thats all i can say im super pumped and this is the main thing that has made me smile today.
On the balance changes , i feel that the devs just dont get it to be honest.
The buffs are great dont get me wrong but for me the fixes they need to undertake arent about stacking more might or baseline condition damage . The devs need to acknowledge that the base ranger mechanics are broken and implement some serious fixes. From simple fixes like a realistic AOE surviveability for pets or being able to stow them without automatically coming out when going into battle to being able to actually use the abilities that a pet has instead of a broken AI choosing the useless time to cast them.
I love playing ranger i really do and i want to keep my pet , im certainly not one of the anti pets brigade, but it is broken and if its our MAIN mechanic that separates rangers from other classes it should be working.
Maybe not 100% as expected ( it is an mmo afterall ) but more that it currently is .
Finally i really want some kind of feedback from devs as to why interaction with the ranger community is so isolated compared to other classes , I wont mention specifics of a deleted article by a mmo news website.
Something needs to be done to improve communication, criticism and trust between the community and the devs in charge of our class , especially considering their history of how little the do communicate with us.
Anyway sorry for long post to anyone that has had interest in reading my opinion, so i ask you , all GW2 players your feed back aand especially ranger mains ,
where do you see state of ranger for HoT
31 pages of comments and most of the posts disliking the name . Safe to say Anet got the msg
- xpac -good
Higher concept names thought up by a developers 10 yr old son – bad
I feel that dragon hunter invokes of a singular warrior without need for support , killing dragons is his duty his code . while i get the concept i dont think it fits a class specialization thats main focus is long range support not singular combat .
Given that the focus is long range support and the guild wars lore i dont understand why this isnt called the paragon , to me this name is a given. Some will argue that they traditionallly use spear but the key is that paragon provides long range support which is what the dragon hunter does . Then again calling it something as obvious as paragon might be too high of a concept
As a ranger main i feel kinda ripped off since what youve basically made is a ranger without an annoying pet , heavy armor and traps that work , so yeh besides the name being terrible i really feel like ive been kicked in the teeth since ranger pets are still awful to control in dungeons. But yeh i look forward to the warrior spec with useful turrets and heavy armor so my engineer gets made redundant too
