I will say it the same as everyone else: Some parts of the story are simply impossible as an elementalist.
I have been keeping track of the many threads regarding Elementalist builds, skilled vs. unskilled plays, buffs, overpowered, underpowered etc etc etc for a couple of weeks now. I have been fairly successful at completing most of my story by dancing through attunements, using power and conditional damage related traits. I craft my own gear and apply jewels as needed. However, I am currently at a part of my story where I am obliterated every time. I use a decent combination of Earth and Fire, and switch to Water when needing to heal. However, there is a point where the NPC allies are down (because my water healing simply isn’t enough to keep them and me alive), and I am being attacked by 4 or 5 notable NPC character. Not your standard ‘no-name’ antagonists.
As the risk of being bombarded by accusations of being a noob, please note that I have taking advice from numerous people on the forums and attempted to apply it. The sheer fact of the matter is that I am too squishy (despite balance defence (Earth Traits and Toughness) with offence (Conditional Damage and Power)), and I do not do enough damage. I can manage to take down several of the group, but still find myself destroyed.
As many people have noted, each class is designed so the player can decide how they want to play that class. Though it seems that there is a right and a wrong way to play a Elementalist. I really enjoy this class and find the challenge refreshing, though in instances such as this, I find it hard to see how this class is balanced along with the rest, or how I could honestly choose to play him the way I want to play him. I have played two other classes to a similar, if not higher level, and have not experienced the amount of trouble I have with my Elementalist class.
Also, when downed, game-over… Mist is ineffectual and simply allows me to move 2 metres so my murders have a much clearer shot at me (lol).
Has anyone heard anything from ArenaNet on the Elementalist issues? Is there any official comment on the matter?
Hi guys,
This may have already come up but how fast things move on these forums, I am unlikely to find it easily.
I have restarted as a new character. I am playing a human Elementalist. I had previous played for about 30levels as an Asura Ranger. I am finding the Elementalist class quite difficult as I am not used to being consistently gronked by every Firefly and Wild Boar around.
Can someone give me some tips for playing an effective Elementalist, so I don’t spent much of my time face-down in the dirt?
Cheers,

Hi Troy,
Like you, I am colourblind. I am somewhat amused as I did not even know that there were AoE circles for enemies; that suggests how difficult they are for people like us to see.
I agree wholeheartedly with everything you have said. In relations to option suggestions, I’d like to see a means of customising nameplate colours (or some colours in general) within the game. In other MMORPGs I have played, there has been a “colour blind” option button that increases the colour contracts for people with vision impairments. This might be an option for implementation that could allow people with colour deficiencies to be able to overcome the issues of colour contracts and visibility without impacting on the gaming experience of other players.
In high populated fights, I find myself spamming the Tab Key and waiting for my character to turn to the direction of the next enemy. I would like to see a different targeting system (as suggested in other forum posts) such as reticles/crosshairs (similar to those used in the elemental fight in the Thermanova Reactor in the Metrica Province.)
That’s my ten-cents-worth. I know that accessibility is usually low priority on games, but I hope that ArenaNet takes this into consideration.
Cheers

I have noticed something similar with my Ranger in Brisban Wildlands. It is very frustrating to be grinding for hours and not actually getting anywhere.
I do salvage from the equipment. I don’t need copper and iron, I need the materials drop from mobs, such a claws and the like. But it just seems few and far in between.
If this is the norm, I will stop whining. It just seems to me that it is very inconsistent.
It is just me, or does it seem that drop rates and node spawns are a little inconsistent. I spent several hours today wondering around the Brisban Wildlands only occasionally finding Nodes, and having more equipment drops from beasties than anything else. This had made crafting progression pretty laborious as I can’t seem to get the correct materials from certain beasties.
Is this normal?
Same issue… Can’t buy anything. Please fix soon. This bug is making it difficult to enjoy the game.
