Not being accepted into dungeons because we have a pet kind of sucks. Let us equip a ‘mist-form’ type pet that causes no aggo, does not die, does not attack and has a minor effect that is useful but does not overpower us. Since spirits are otherwise pretty much useless in dungeons due to AOE, this would allow Spirits a purpose and allow Rangers to get around the pet hate.
It would be OK is this option was only available once we were already inside dungeons. It could be like aquatic pets, only they would be dungeon pets. Or they could just be options normally, which might hurt flavor but not balance. I can’t imagine a spirit being better than a pet except for coordinated group fights anyway. This would help the dungeon hate and also help the Ranger demands for ‘Pets immune to AoE’ buff for regular pets, or ‘Let us Store our Pets permanently’ requests. It would also mean that pet storage would be more likely available when we have to jump down, and may not even require a swap to jump down (because a spirit that can’t attack or be attacked shouldn’t be allowed to aggro any mobs running around).
P.S. Healing Spring is crazy good. The Ranger class is OK, it is just hard to implement pets in dungeons without overpowering the class elsewhere.
