Here’s the tl;dr edition for those just tuning in:
Prosecute is mad because he got killed in a pvp area and decides to form a mini-alliance with some HoD guilds to make GoM mad in return. Succeeds in creating dissension on both his own server and HoD while GoM collectively shrugs and goes about business as usual. HoD hosts a hugfest so everyone can go back to being bff’s. Meanwhile, Acium makes a play at forming an alliance with the forum moderators.

In a shocking M. Night Shymaleen twist, it’s revealed that Prosecute is a former Kaineng player. Credits roll.

I won’t lie, that kitten was hilarious.

I’m sure that at this point, everyone that’s played this game has at some point been double teamed, and as has been stated many times, that’s just the nature of 3 teams fighting over the same points. While I personally wouldn’t decide to form an alliance, there are people who believe it is a legitimate strategy, which to me, is perfectly fine. I agree that there is no reason for it to be done by the server that is leading the battle currently, but you know what they say, kitten happens.

My point is, don’t let it bother you. Winning is fantastic and all, but what it all comes down to is if you personally are having fun or not. If you’re not having fun, find another way to do so. A close friend and myself used to sit at the south-west supply camp in the borderland maps and wait for people to come to take it back, then proceed to drop down on them using the warrior’s falling damage reduction trait, and watch them fly backwards. Were we accomplishing anything that really benefited our server? Not at all, but we loved every second of it. Do what you think is fun, and don’t let the scores have a factor on that. Cheers to GoM and HoD, who have been excellent opponents for our entire stay in T7.

I’m not sure what that meant, but if you’re implying that I am an enemy commander then I can assure you I am not.

To clarify: if you and others are doubting our commanders then the opposing commanders have succeeded. If you have not already read it, I recommend “The Art of War” by Sun Tzu. Surprising how much applies to WvW.

+1 to this. It’s also a surprisingly good read.

The problem with WvW is it’s a 24/7 battle. Unfortunately, that means night capping is bound to happen. While it does suck when it happens to the server you’re on, it wouldn’t be fair if people couldn’t WvW over night. Personally, I work a night shift so 3-7 am EST is my personal prime time. It doesn’t bother me much unless there is absolutely no competition during that time, which most servers have at least a small night crew. While allying with a European server may seem like an ideal situation, it would only add long queues for the majority of each day since most servers are at very high or high population.

Don’t get me wrong I think a GoM alliance is a good idea, but after almost five months of WvW I am convinced now more than ever that commanders do more harm than good. If in the end the alliance is just a small group of hardcore jerks barking orders then the server will suffer and people will leave.

now i cant say anything on the matter of commanders before 3 weeks ago (when i started playing) but the commanders ive seen in the past few weeks have been excellent, organized us and have done it all in a fair and fun manner. sorry to hear thats how you’ve experienced it.

+1 to this. I would follow any of the commanders on Gates. It can sometimes take a bit to figure out what they are trying to accomplish and each has his or her own style. So I try to follow as best I can and try to figure out how to contribute most effectively. @Tekyn: I always remind myself that the opposing commanders are doing their best to diminish our morale.

Speaking only of EB now, I have never found a commanderless group accomplishing anything particularly useful.

Normally I would tend to agree with you on most commander-less groups accomplishing little, but I’ve seen a group of random people on my server fend off GoM attackers at SM for quite a while with no commander on the map for 2+ hours. On another note, it’s good to hear you guys have some excellent commanders. Playing against GoM and HoD has been an awesome experience and thanks to both servers for the excellent fights!

Score update please!

To the GoM d/d ele at golanta a little bit ago, you’re a champion. 5-6 of us and you were still taking us down. It’s nice to face off against someone of your caliber and know there is still room for improvement thanks for the fun fight!

To HoD and GoM, thank you for continuing to make things fun and interesting for us on DH throughout this matchup

This is the first time I’ve found it worth logging into the forums to post a reply in any thread, and it’s all due to this matchup being absolutely fantastic. These past two weeks have been the most fun I’ve ever had in WvW and I’d like to thank HoD and GoM for that ^^ You guys are great opponents to play against, and personally, I wouldn’t mind playing against you guys for the next several weeks if it stays like this. Kudos to all sides for putting up such amazing fights!
