I’m not having fun BECAUSE I’m not getting many rewards. My fun in a game usually comes from a sense of accomplishment, whether that be killing a hard boss, or getting good loot, or getting a level-up and an awesome skill, or finally getting the materials to craft an epic item.
Hard boss fights don’t exist in this game. They’re either mind numbing “press 1 and occasionally dodge roll” or ridiculous “this boss one shots you with everything, time to spend all your money on repairs and still kill him despite dying 70 times in one fight”, so that’s out the window.
Good loot is ridiculously hard to find, and more often than not any decent items I find are ones that I can’t use so they either go on the TP or get salvaged. With no static loot tables for bosses, they aren’t a reliable way to get loot.
I’m level 80 already and skills aren’t based on levelups. I had every non-slot skill unlocked by level 15, and the slot skills are just boring.
Getting crafting materials is hard because there’s no reliable way to get gold for me. I have no desire to mindlessly kill mobs for 25-50 silver an hour (which, if I’ve heard correctly, gets reduced if you do it too long because of anti-botting crap), to get the 6 gold I need for my armor set.
I just wish there was something truly satisfying for me in this game. At the moment, there’s nothing, and I can’t find motivation to play despite the fact that I really, really want to.
My friend got 40 Orichalcum Ore for completing Cursed Shore. I completed it about 20 minutes later and got 20 Lemongrass. Why is there such a disparity in value between map completion rewards? Not only that, but why did I get less, not only in value, but in amount, than my friend for the exact same accomplishment?
This really robbed me of any motivation I had to continue playing the game right now. I went through so much trouble and so much stress to complete this zone, and got absolute crap.
however i am going to counter that with… being hard and feeling cheesey can go hand in hand. Are games are hard and feel rewarding like say Demon or Dark Souls, but the thing is…those games actually pretty good at teaching you the mistakes you’ve made. The problem with GW2 is that you die so fast, and so quickly that you dont have time to consider what you did wrong. red circles appear so fast and give a fraction of a second to respond, sometimes even hitting you with a CC effect moment it shows up so you cant avoid it. Idea that you should be punished for messing up is FINE!
I love this comparison. GW2 is definitely bad at teaching you what, if anything, you did wrong. Some bosses are absolutely toxic to gameplay and do not help the player learn how to beat them. I encountered a few bosses in Arah that were actually very well designed, but most of the bosses that I’ve faced are either pointless zerg-fests that are really easy to just do damage, die, run in, and repeat, or ridiculously impossible fights where the boss spams massive AOE that is instant-kill and impossible to avoid.
There is a very small number of bosses that are truly enjoyable in this game, two of which are in Arah. The boss in story mode that summons grubs that slowly move towards him and then give him a buff is definitely a well designed boss that checks the coordination of a group. The first boss in the Warden path in Arah Explorable, the one that is an archer and a crusher is also fairly well designed, in that you have to keep them separate and burst one of them down as fast as possible, avoiding the combination of the ranger’s CC and the crusher’s instant kill. Both of those bosses definitely test coordination and individual skill, and I think if every other boss was designed with those in mind, the game would be better as a whole.
I also can’t get the skill point in Sentry Steppes. Reported it as a bug in-game. Yet another bug that’s blocking me from map completion in an area :/
While I ultimately agree with the ban and think your name should be changed, a two week ban for “racial slurs” for a reference to hitler is really stupid. How is a name, regardless of who it belonged to, a racial slur? Offensive name, insulting name, sure, but how is it a racial slur in any way?
I think this name is offensive. For instance if your jewish and this name came on your screen you would be extremley offended.
Not being Jewish myself, I honestly don’t know, but I do have Jewish family members who are not offended by holocaust/Hitler jokes.
It’s not as simple as “all Jews are offended by the slightest mention of the name ‘Adolf’”.
Monthly achievements didn’t reset for me.
