If it helps I’m just looking for, powerful enough to win a 1v1, with a decent enough chance at surviving. Balanced pretty much. I tried Zerker, literally didn’t make it out of the top half of the Battleground lmao
What about the gear I got on now, how is it? Knight’s armor and weapons (lust and battle) Po/Pr/To accessories, with like one beserker amulet. Armor has two major runes of melandru, and four major runes of water.
How do you know when a set works tho? How do you seriously test it against other players, when you could be easily killed when you get jumped..I’d think it’d be very hard to get a 1v1 in WvWvW
Man, all these runes and stuff and different gear, knight, celestial, etc, just confusing ot me

I’ve kinda just farming around the veteran chains and doing world bosses, now I want to do WvWvW and have no idea the kind of gear i need, or what my role is supposed to be for D/D. Any help would help. I just want to be able to stand a chance against other players, I ain’t even sure if I’m able to do that right now, someone said I am, but i don’t know.

I just can’t seem to understand what use we are in WvWvW. We’re roamers, sure, but require a great amount of skill to be able to 1v1 someone…and win, something I can’t do cause I’ve been playing mine for over a year, and I still can’t even survive. But other than that, yea I don’t now what we’re good for. Killing supply dolyaks I guess, we can’t solo Supply Camps, well we could but one guard at a time (somehow without pulling everyone else) which usually takes too long and the X comes up and now all it takes is for one other char to come over to rip you. I love my D/D ele and I do not want to switch weapons, I just wish we were buffed a bit to be able to have a better chance at winning 1v1 and solo’ing camps cause right now, i don’t know what good we’re for.
I mostly have problems with Mesmers and Thieves. Thieves seem to stealth way too much, and I can’t track a Mesmer’s movements with those clones. I’m a D/D ele, and using Dragon breath and Frost breath seems to hit them occasionally. Otherwise these classes are impossible to beat down.
God It’s such bull how nobody even TALKS about D/D anymore cause of how badly Arena Net nerfed us. The hell. Forcing us to use a specific weapon just to be any good
Ok well point is, cause I want to get to a point with this thread lol. What is the main role of D/D Eles now in WvWvW? Are we able to roam still, bunker down , or are the only thing we’re good for is harassing zergs for twenty seconds before we’re slaughtered like pigs? And whatever we’re good for, could you post a really good build for it? LIke with the gear and traits. I’m so lost on my Ele it’s not even funny.
Being a D/D Elementalist, I can’t believe what I’m freaking hearing from these people that are whining so much about Ele Mist Form. Are you DEAD serious right now? We’re already weak and squishy, easy to take down, usually one of the main targets. Taking that away from us isn’t balancing us, it’s destroying us more. Stop whining cause you miss one kill, if you’re in a zerg, you’ll get others. Break the door down, chase him and kill him, and don’t whine cause they can escape you easily. From what I’m hearing it’s not about mist form in downed, it’s that we are able to use a “cheat tactic” to get away. Thieves have repeated Stealth, and Mesmers have those kitten clones, to get away with. If your whining cause your zerg is attacked by an Ele , who I ASSUME is either D/D (laughs) or most likely a S/D build cause he’s that close to your zerg to be able to mist back into the fort, and the attack on your zerg is so bad and unbalanced that you need to come onto the forums and demand they nerf us more, then your zergs suck and you suck. Plus you are able to immobilize us after we’re downed, soon as we hit the ground, put on a stun, or immediately go for the kill. The only reason I’ve been able to get away in mist form when I’m downed is cause I lept from a cliff into the water and they didnt’ want to leave their zerg to chase me. It’s only unbalanced if you can’t stop us, but you can, so go learn and stop crying.

What about a Glass Cannon build? I rather be that with a D/D. I figured, twenty points in fire (Fire VI and III), ten in air for the aura swiftness/fury , rest in Arcana but the traits for Arcana are VI, III, and XI. I got Beserker armor, rings, knight’s earrings, solider’s daggers, major and superior runes of water in my armor, and Emerald Orbs every where else. Tried to output as much damage as I can lmao. Don’t know if i did it right. Proably not:P might move ten out of Arcana and put more into Air. Who needs E.A. when you die in two shots:D
Yea it sucks that stone splinters isn’t freaking traited correctly. I tried doing WvWvW and i was just stunlocked to death lmao. My god this is ridiculous. I can’t wait until they buff D/D
My god, all the talks about nerfs put on us. I feel so..helpless and poor…like there’s a pandemic going around, or a genocide or Elementalists, and we’re the few straggling survivors.
And that’s what, just someone who picks off stragglers, thats it?
I’m curious as to the roles of D/D in WvWvW? Cause I Just tried it out for the first time, and kitten am I confused lol. I’m just switching to random attunments and hitting buttons at first. Not used to it i guess. What’s the role of a D/D? Is it a bunker type to just share auras and mess with zergs and other people, or are we actually capable of offense?
I always figured too that D/D Eles were utterly useless without their auras
Wow, confusing stuff here lol. I’m going with Nik’s right now and see how it rolls. I might adapt to these later on, I appreciate it guys. But hey don’t stop there, i see there’s others here needing some help with this. Let’s keep this post going to help all the ele’s find new builds for this patch.

Why would I need Sigil of Battle? I won’t be swapping to any weapons, I"ll be D/D the whole time.

So far I’m putting 30 in Arcana, duh, and I’ve put ten in Air for the aura boons. I don’t know where else to go from here, or still, the stats i should get. just so confused.
I’m thinking along the lines of PvP. I expect to do PvP mostly after I"m done farming the crap out of th world bosses for fun.
I don’t care what people say, I shall stay D/D and becoem good with him. I just dont’ know what to do with him now. I Just hit 80, so now I don’t know what to do. Knights of the Triangle Table is recruiting. Freshly made guild made with all in-real-life friends, so we have good coordination with each other. The leader is HowlingVengence, and I’m the second in command, Psy The Outcast. Just like any other guild post on this website, we do PvE and are a helpful guild, cause GW2 is a helpful game lol. While I am the only max level in the guild, I have the most time to spare. Join and represent us, and I’ll help you as much as I can with events, a boss, or even your dungeon group and so will the others. We do use Teamspeak frequently every day. Alongside me and HowlingVengence, we have Dreadash/Dreadnick, Levi, and CloudX. I am the most active in the guild, you could call me the Social Worker as I help everyone in the guild along side of duties the other members of our council do, Dread is the General in charge of raids and dungeons, Howling is in charge of leadership, moral, INFLUENCE budget, and image. The other two are normal players, but close to us and can also help. Give us a chance! Everyone knows a triangle beats a circle, it’s like a rock paper scissors thing. We get new content to do, new areas, new loot and what not, and you complain? Get the hell off our game, man. I played World of Warcraft for five years, and the RARE times they would give us such new content, would be a freaking expansion. This is a god send, and you’re a blind selfish player.
Also, the Legendaries are really turning me off to Engineer as well. I want to play a class where my Legendary is freaking viable. Not one where it’s always hidden, and doesn’t affect kits at all. Makes them completely pointless for Engineers.
I mean I want to be the person that gets kills and is on the offensive. Is an Engineer capable of that?
I’d like to know if Engineers are viable for damage dealing and killing in WvW. I"d like to think if I’m roaming and a 1v1 happens, i’d know i had a good chance at beating them. I’m also low level, so I’d like to know a good leveling build to go. So far i’ve been using P/P skills just cause idk the right way to do it.
Basically I’m asking if an Engineer can be one of the top 5 most kills in the leaderboard after a match, and if so, in what situations? Bomb zerging a group, 1v1, or accidental kills like blowing them off a ledge.
