I know this will sound shocking in this no skill/mindless spam/carried by class game but its actually about player.
Some classes are better than other of course but when you are looking for people to play with good player on average class will benefit you more than average player on good class.
You want people to be at right time in right place doing right thing not just randomly die all over the map on some OP build.
And even “skill” requirement of classes are BS, its about your dodge/cooldown management/game knowledge/positioning/situational awareness and not about how many fancy tricks your class have, once you master one class you can be decent on any class and great once you get used to that new class.
I never said any of this…I just asked what they were good at. Don’t put words in my mouth/message.
can you link this D/D celestial build please?
I’ve been working on my elementalist for a while now, and was wondering, How good are Elementalists in PvP? Can they survive, kill, or help my team win a lot?
If no, I may change my questions later.
I just bought the razor naga ( http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-mice/razer-naga )
so i have easy access to keys 1-12 and m1-m5. my question is, can i play the game with only this mouse? i have 1-10 as skills, 11 and fire, 12 as water, m4 as air ( key right below the scroll ) , m5 as earth ( key right below m4 ) right mouse button and left mouse button stay the same, but when pressed together act as moving forward. I also have m3 (the scroll button) to use as jump, dodge, or f, but i can only map one to the key. This is where the problem comes in. with ANY other class i could make it work (although engineer might have a similar, but not as difficult problem), but i can only use 1 of those 3 on my mouse, unless i get rid of a different button ( autoattack might give me one more option)
Can I play efficiently with this setup, or is there a different setup you’d recommend?
also on a slightly related topic, anybody know of a good Elementalist guide?
I’m going to zerg.
I’ve narrowed it down to guardian and elementalist. They both seem good, so I’m having trouble deciding. Which would benefit one who doesn’t want to die more?
I’m basically new to gw2 and I’m looking for a good PvE and WvW class. (mostly WvW)

I’m basically new to GW2, and I was wondering what classes Excel at PvE and WvW?(WvW is my main concern)
I’ll add more to this if the need arises.

25/30/0/0/15 for traits. DA 3+6, CS 1+3+11, Trickery 5.
Sword/Pistol and Shortbow. Play around with the heals to find one you like. Signet of Shadows, Shadow Refuge, and a stun breaker. Thief’s Guild elite. Zerker gear with ruby orbs.
Steal to open, Pistol 5 for the blind field, spam autoattack or pistol whip. Can play around with other builds if you want, but that right there will faceroll pretty much anything that’s not a champion.
okay so S/P and SB. Is D/P a viable option instead of S/P or is S/P a better option?
I’m returning to GW2 after having not played for a long time and was wondering if anybody had a good thief build for Solo PvE. I’ve never really used thief before so I’m going to need Some help on which weapons, skills, and traits to use. Thank you for your time and help. also, if anybody thinks thief isn’t a good class to level for PvE, please say which class you think is better

(all these calculations are made roughly by a level 45 warrior and my weapons were level 5 and crafted to minimize difference in gear, but the estimations will stay accurate in terms of comparing weapons(my calculations may be off because i had trouble with calculating the bleeds))
This is likely where the skewing starts.
Direct damage is derived from your power, precision, +% damage and weapon damage. Bleed damage is derived from your condition damage (and partially condition duration).
If you have both sword and greatsword as steady weapons so the hits don’t vary as much and will ultimately be low, you’re basically capping direct damage. If you’re counting bleeds as damage, the damage will be drawn independently from your weapon damage so it doesn’t matter that you equipped low level 5 weapons or steady weapons, the bleeds will be the same.
So basically, the test is wrongly skewed.
That said, I think swords are underrated. They’re actually pretty good, even moreso now with some of the changes made. They won’t outdo Greatsword’s direct damage but I don’t think it falls hugely behind. Swords is more of a flexible weapon, able to deal direct or condition damage, it has mobility as well as freedom to equip a different off hand or main hand depending on your needs. Also, 2 sigils.
…CRAP…
i just found something else out by going to different areas of the game, the difference gets MUCH clearer the higher level you are
or rather it fluxuates at different points, in a level 5 zone GS was better in a level 10 zone sword was better, in a level 20 zone GS was better and so on

again it’s not a troll, and my traits are geared more towards power than conditions,
don’t knock it till you try it, sword/sword may well be the warriors ticket back to the top
you underestimate the power of bleeds
1st off not a troll post
2nd off i suck at names so this is the best i could come up with, it’s ironic because i don’t even have a guardian character
i forgot to mention that the s/s damage of 6 minutes is not 20x the damage of 18 seconds because bleeds last longer and can complete their intended effect instead of being cut short by death or the time frame of 18 seconds being completed
(edited by Pureguardian.4562)
with testing and calculations i have come to the conclusion that sword/sword does MUCH more damage than greatsword when the battle is drawn out (i have calculations based on 18 seconds and roughly based on a battle that is 6 minutes(all these calculations are made roughly by a level 45 warrior and my weapons were level 5 and crafted to minimize difference in gear, but the estimations will stay accurate in terms of comparing weapons(my calculations may be off because i had trouble with calculating the bleeds)))
my calculation with sword/sword over 18 seconds is roughly 8,000 damage
my calculation with greatsword over 18 seconds is roughly 4,000 damage
my calculation with sword/sword over 6 minutes is roughly 220,000 damage
my calculation with greatsword over 6 minutes is roughly 80,000
keep in mind that the damage is low due to gear and level
this calculation would make greatsword basically useless in fights longer than 5-10 seconds
keep in mind that i hakitten ot too good with calculating bleeds so it may be off, please give me your results and we will find out once and for all the use of greatsword, and see if it is overrated, and find out if sword/.sword is underrated but insanely powerful
i just got deep strike and and the description says +40 precision for each unused signet, yet i have 4 signets in my skill bar all unused and at most it only gives +10 precision each, has deep strike been nerfed or does it now scale to level?
I am trying to pick a class for leveling to 80, I’m not asking for the best all round class.
My question is:
What is the fastest and/or easiest class to level up?
