Just curious if Arena Net has any plans to implement a solo-ladder feature for competitive players? I did a bit of forum digging, and I was unable to find a clear answer.
I am a highly competitive gamer, who lacks the time to play competitively on a team, but I love games (including team games) that allow me to jump into competitive, ranked matches by myself to get my fill when I have the time. I’ve been keeping my eye on GW2, but have been gravitating back to Starcraft 2 for this reason (in anticipation of HoTS).
I am aware of the solo queue option for free tournaments. To be clear, my question is whether there will be a ranked solo queue ladder for players like me once Arena Net adds these new PvP features that they promised shortly?
I imagine that the implementation could be as simple as tracking the W/L of players when they use the solo queue feature and ranking them accordingly, perhaps with some slightly fancier bells and whistles based on the hidden MMR that Arena Net is developing. Might be worth tracking classes played too, just in case particular classes tend to dominate pug games more easily than others, so you could see who the top solo queue players are by profession played as well (which might also be an interesting balancing metric).
I know this won’t happen, but I would love an Arena Net poster to tell me whether I should stick around and wait for these features or just continue preparing for Heart of the Swarm, heh.
These forums are public. There are serious, competive gamers who occasionally lurk these forums to check on the progress of sPvP in hopes that the game might someday be worth playing. However, when purported “top” players from both sides of the pond start attacking each other like 9-year old school children, they laugh (at you) and move on.
Learn to respect one another. Trash talk has no place among serious teams and serious players. It’s not your fault that this game’s competitive scene is an afterthought, but that’s no excuse for acting like babies and making yourselves and the community look worse than it already likely is.
Take pride in mastery, and then keep that to yourself.
Sincerely yours,
A Smurf
