It makes a big difference if you’re using a 21.5" or 27" iMac.

Seems like that 256 MB is shared Memory, in which case unsatisfactory performance is perfectly normal regarding wrapped games.

Unfortunately, there isn’t much you can do other than using boot camp (yuck) or going for a new MBP.

How about using CMD + Tab in order to switch Apps? Works like a charm in Fullscreen Mode.
