I’m having the same problem (I’m in the UK) – no error code, I am just returned to the character selection screen as soon as I name a character an select create. This has happened multiple times and is very frustrating.
I am also having the same issue. I receive no error message or notification of any kind. I have tried deleting the Local.dat file but not running the repair – I am running Windows 8 and couldn’t easily see the GW2.exe file you refer to.
