oh and to all the meta is everything people. i really do not care if you can’t dodge and are using berserker and scholar rune which does not work for ever class, i do not care it kills stuff fast if you are dead cause you got sneezed on or did not dodge a circle you are not a dps you are a minus dps from the group.

glass canon meta builds assume you can play exceedingly well. Alot of people do not make good use of scholar runes. Hating meta builds is overall a dumb thing. When people find efficient builds they become meta in every game.

No game that wants to have differing classes with different builds can ever have “balance” Balance requires homgenization for classes to be even. Most games aim for a perfect imbalance to make things different enough while not having too large of a gap in power between the differences.

So, this new content suits me better in some ways – although, the Zerker meta is still prevalent in the raids…

A “zerker type” meta is something that will always exist. People always look for the fastest and most efficient gear. If you are taking little to no damage or have ways of avoiding damage then there is no need for any defensive stats. Defensive stats are wasted as long as you have health in your health bar.

Guild Wars 2 is/was advertised as being an MMO without having an exact Holy Trinity . This means that several professions can fill several roles. The dungeons/factals can be jumped into with any comp of professions. Some comps make them easier of course.

Guild Wars 2 was also advertised at lacking a gear treadmill(not grind). Treadmill is a planned obsolescence of gear. For a long time exotics were the highest end with legendaries being overpriced skins. Ascended came out and that became the highest tier with legendaries being given those stats as well. Eventually legendaries became account bound and stat swappable. Ascended has been in the game for a long time and has remained the highest tier of gear for that time. This is what Guild Wars 2 advertised. You can come back play the game and experience all the content. In other MMOs you have a list of gear sets to be able to acquire other gear sets.

I wished I could do the raid, but Anet absolutely shafted new players. I refuse to farm everyday for months just to be able to craft ascended gear. Not opening my wallet either.

New players can actually play the game first before doing super endgame content.

With the rate things are going I wouldn’t be surprised if they made a new tier in between ascended and legendary. And with that just bumped up legendary stats and make ascended 2nd best. (if you doubt this then look at what happened the old top tier of exotics)

If Anet did that they actually would have alot of angry players. So no they won’t do that. It would be a PR nightmare.

In fact, I’m relatively sure if you look at the cost of say a legendary weapon, it’s still more money that making a set of ascended and trasmuting it 100 times, maybe more. If trends continue, you’d likely be able to make a set of every single ascended stat armor for the price/effort of a single legendary armor.

I’ll compare a legendary with the price of Ascended armor if you bought the whole thing and crafted none. Bolt to outright buy is 3.2k gold by a seller at this time with the highest buy order at 2.8k gold. A single set of ascended armor is around 800 gold believe and thats if you bought all the ascended materials. In the time it takes people to come on the forums and complain they could be making any progress on ascended armor.

Its kind of dumb to complain about legendary armor when it would be faster to make a few sets of ascended armor.

This is the whole reason why i haven’t got HOT yet when you compare the Core game to HOT both were 50$ base price brand new the amount of content you got for the core game is substantially greater. Now I’m not asking for Anet to make an expansion the same size as the core game. But I do not feel that HOT should be valued at $50.00 this is why I have not yet purchased HOT though I have had the game since launch. I am waiting for the price to drop or for the game to go on sale.

HOT should not have been exclusively priced at $50.00 (or higher) and packaged together with the core game.

HOT should also be available as a standalone purchase in my opinion.

I decided to wait for the expansion to launch and see if it actually had enough new stuff to merit a full price for a game and I am still on the fence about it at best.

Usually if you compare an expansion to the base game, the base game will come out further ahead in content. Also don’t forget we have more content coming for HoT as content patches should be coming around at some point. To compare FF14 only just had its big content patch since Heavensward about 2 weeks ago.

Yep, same experience here. I have yet to find a successful DS map, after several frustrating attempts with LFG. I’m done with it.

I will teach you the secret steps to joining a good DS map. Listen carefully because any little mistake can ruin your chances of executing this complex technique.

1. Be in a DS map when the timer is between 1h45 and 2h.
2. Open LFG.
3. Join any one of the 10 parties that say “DS taxi” or something similar.
4. Right click your party member’s icon and click Join in their map.

I know this sounds hard, but if you manage to follow these steps, I guarantee you will find yourself in a successful DS map. Good luck.

You can als watch for when a new map will be created on the event timers on the guild wars 2 wiki. I have yet to have a DS map fail.

HOT content is definitely not worth the premium price. I don’t play FF14 but I’ve heard feedback that there’s clearly more content than HOT. I do play swtor however and their recent xpac completely revised the whole game and was free to subscribers for the price of 1 months sub ($15) they revised the whole game and offered a story that is leagues ahead of the poor HOT story.

FF14 as I have played obsoletes zones as you finish them. There is very little replayability assuming you play one job in it. Sure theres around 6 maps which conveniently added flying to these maps, but the amount of content added really is about as much as HoT. Zones in ff14 have the same event system as gw2. I will say HoT story has faults with pacing and not giving answers. The story while good is pretty weak as it reaches its climax.

Once you hit cap in FF14 the gear grin begins. This consisted of 2 dungeons which us ff14 players had for several months until the most recent patch along with Alexander raiding content. The raiding content has a harder mode which felt overtuned because it required gear that was time gated. The same thing players of gw2 complain about. The difference is ff14 players know this gear will eventually be obsoleted while Ascended armor in gw2 will never be obsoleted. After sometime logging in to FF14 is do my daily dungeons to acquire tokens then log off since you can only gain a certain amount in a week.

is timed event the future direction of GW2 ? no more dynamic event like the vanilla Tyria content (excl. DT and SW ) ?

Events in Guild Wars 2 have always been on timers. They were never random. Back when World bosses were on set schedules, they had windows in which they would spawn. Depending on the world boss the windows had differing lengths. Other dynamic events that occurred on maps also had timers. Notice how there were champ trains and the Orr karma trains. Each event is set on a timer for when it finishes to spawn again.

Reasons why Repair costs in WvW are bad for gameplay

As others have said, the repair cost isn’t a bit deal because you should be making far more than you’re dropping on repairs. Upgrades are a huge pain though. I’d kinda like the option to pay in badges like siege.

Repair costs are not a big deal unless you juts can’t finish enough events. Also just covering repair costs is not something anyone wants to do. People want to make profit. If the profit isn’t large enough WvW ends up empty in a few days or hours depending on the server.

Also you can buy siege with badges.
