Something others haven’t mentioned (I have all of the above bugs as well) is that my pvp reward tracks ALL reset to no progress. I was halfway through about 5 of them (because I didn’t complete several of them before switching to other reward tracks).

Yeah, someone in LA said logging in as a new character would fix it. It did not for me.

I reinstalled, and that seems to have fixed it for now. I hope I don’t have to reinstall every update in the future because it takes forever, so I’m optimistically hoping that fixed the problem, whatever it was.

This guild has great people in it. I joined in November, and it made the game even more enjoyable for me.

At least playing as under dogs has made us hone our skills and become much better players than we could ever have been otherwise.

When the numbers are close to equal we have prevailed more than lost because also rans in zergs never really have to fight, its done before they really make an impact.

Jay you couldn’t be farther from the truth. First, Aldrick and Vis are trying to be nice to you guys, but every time they offer an encouraging post you guys try to use it as a way to attack CORE for leaving. A bit pathetic don’t you think.

Second, in equal fights IoJ absolutely melts. For many groups people will stack and buff, but when we see IoJ we don’t even worry about stacking. Why you might ask? Well, you all are running zerk gear and crap for class composition. It’s amazing how many rangers I have seen in your groups. Re-roll or forever be a bag for the opposition. Sorry if the truth hurts but besides hiding in a tower/keep you guys are garbage only because you choose to be. Listen to guilds like MEND who know class composition and learn.

See you are a commander, your way with words must really “inspire” your troops on the battlefield. If you didn’t notice, IoJ is rocking 3rd and has been this whole season, so yeah, you may wipe us with your fancy pants solid zerg busting guild groups, again if you didn’t notice, you are in the #1 spot. From what I have been experiencing in IoJ, whether commanding or not, we are doing fine and having a fun time at it. We love our rangers, we love our thieves, and we love our independent pugs. They can roll whatever gear/professions they want. We are IoJ, and we are here cause we love our server and our population.

I take offense to that. I’m absolutely certain CORE could wipe you the same way if we were on Anvil Rock.

I don’t know how your reaction relates to his post, Zha. I didn’t get the impression that he was saying that CORE is only good because they’re on FA at all. All he’s saying is that we on IoJ value our community for who they are and not for what they play, which is true. Right now, IoJ doesn’t need to be yelling at players to stop playing their preferred profession because it’s not the meta right now.

Right now, IoJ needs to be working on rebuilding, on working together as a server, and on establishing a new wvw infrastructure, which is exactly what IoJ is doing from what I’ve seen. He’s saying that, despite the persistent beliefs to the contrary prevalent in this forum, IoJers still enjoy being on their server and fighting together. That’s what matters to us. We go into wvw to have fun and to play the game, just like all of you. We’re not miserable, even though we’re in last place.

I’ve been having lots of fun.

I was trying to make a joke. Obviously I failed.

That said, community is great and all but sometimes you need to look at what you are playing to make progression. CORE started out with the same mindset and then we progressed to better builds and composition and it worked wonders. That allowed us to improve our play and get to where we are now. Get a good guild, make friends, and stick to your priorities.

I agree that somewhere in a server’s progression, a focus on builds and zerg composition becomes very important. I just don’t know that IoJ is at that stage yet, not to sell IoJ short or anything. We’re doing amazing things given how low morale was at the beginning of the season, and I definitely feel like we’re doing better in many ways than we were the first week of leagues. I’ve played wvw on IoJ since January after getting the game for Christmas. I’m proud of where IoJ is right now, and I’m proud of the maturity that many IoJ players have exhibited recently in working to rebuild the server.

I’m a huge build/ideal profession person personally. However, not everyone plays the game my way, and there are people who love their profession and their playstyle enough that, were it not allowed in wvw for one reason or another, they wouldn’t play wvw. What they enjoy about wvw is how their profession interacts with the wvw setting, and I’m not in a place to tell them to reroll when they’re enjoying the game, just like I’m not in a place to tell guilds they can’t transfer so that they can enjoy the game on a server that better fits their preferred playstyle. We ultimately all play this game to have fun.

In response to Chris Whiteside asking about favorite/least favorite releases:

Favorite release – Bazaar of the Four Winds
It felt like I was entering a whole new part of the world, and exploring and independence were really encourage. The biggest grind-y achieve (finding all the crystals) was fun and rewarding because a lot of them presented a problem-solving challenge (which of the three skills to use where). The release introduced some lovely armor skins and awesome new possible gear stats, and it really felt like my character was participating in something like a living world.

Least favorite release – Blood and Madness
I wasn’t here for the Halloween release last year (joined this past January), but this particular release felt dead to me. I liked the story parts, and I played the last part daily for a while. Whoever writes your scripts should get a pat on the back. It was the open world content that seemed to die quickly. Three days in, there was almost no one in the labyrinth on my server for most of the day, and my guildies who only play on weekends really struggled with the meta because of it. The clocktower was fine, but I didn’t like the long waits between times that I could jump in that really buggy room where I heard the same dialogues over and over again. It felt like the re-play value for this release was a lot lower than similar releases in the past.

We did hold off that push after the trebs were destroyed, and the push after that too.

Treb matter aside, the whole thing was very exciting. Just started getting some world vs world time in on my warrior (guardian is my main in wvw), and it was a great way to get the feel for how some warrior mechanics work in big fights.

I was hoping we could put off the CORE drama in the thread until at least week four when we face them on FA…

Can we please do that? Please?

I’m proud of all the other people in wvw still on IoJ. The majority of our players have given up (pretty sure a lot of the pve people lasted maximum 3 hours on the first reset night), but those wvwers that stuck with it after the transfers are amazing people.

We’ve had some awesome defenses of various keeps and towers. We’ve had some nice, kinky threesome fights at SM. Everyone is showing how resourceful they can be to summon up a defense when there’s no commander on the map, etc. Y’all are some of my favoritest people.

And thank you, DB and BP, for some awesome fights, including some amazing 1v1s. Y’all are amazing too.

IGN: Elequii
Playstyle: Everything (but I can be bad at dungeons if I don’t know them well, still figuring those things out)
Server: Isle of Janthir (NA)
Hours: Varies, but usually early mornings to early afternoon central time and then evenings as well
Role: Tester (testing builds spvp is one of my favorite things ever)

I’m still leveling my mes, but I’ve really fallen in love with the mesmer class. I’d love to be part of an active mesmer community.

Disconnect Issue (pvp)

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

I hit the “Go Now” button on the solo queue, and was immediately disconnected from the game. I tried everything to reconnect, but could not. When I finally got back in (after restarting Guild Wars 2 countless times and finally restarting my computer), I had credit for the match.

I feel awful because my team lost because I was not there, but I couldn’t reconnect. I got every error in the book from “Transaction in Progress” to “No Internet Connection” (while I was here looking on the forums for help).

I’m not sure what caused this, but it looks like there have been lots of connectivity issues. I’m also not sure why I was in game the whole time that I was disconnected if it gave me credit for the match.

Shoulders Skin Not There

Hello, I doubleclicked my stack of 250 Twisted Watchwork Shoulder Scraps. The stack disappeared, but I didn’t get anything for it. Am I missing some crucial step, or is this a bug?

Note: My inventory was full when I doubleclicked, but I assumed it would replace the stack.

isleofjanthir.net has lots of guilds from our server and their statements about what they do (pve, pvp, wvw, etc.). There have been quite a few wvw guild pop up these past few months, and I would recommend checking there to find one that fits you.
