What I wouldn’t give to have that ‘Monumental’ news include that not only have they brought back HoM, the Legendary Defender of Ascalon title now carries forth into your GW2 account as GWAMM has…

Sadly no, but that title does sound awesome. I can suggest it but the development team’s priority is finishing HOT right now.

Thank you! That would mean the world, and though I know I myself am just one person and most likely not worth coding a semi-brand new title for, I imagine every other player still around who grinded that out way back when would feel like a million platinum. Truly, if there is any potential of that getting to someone who can make it happen, it’d mean the world to (enter RP mode) be able to display the accomplishments of our legendary Ascalonian ancestors. I’d go to far as to name a character after ya Lauren, and not make it intentionally weird-looking.

There was no achievement I was more proud of reaching in a game, back before they gave the extra little daily quests, when it was hours of death-leveling after sacrificing the NPCs at the shrine. My summer beyond the wall was the best time I’ve ever had in Tyria.

I would like to see a poll of how many current players are satisfied with the overall additions to the game in the full 2+ years since release. I don’t think the results would be that positive, and those stats themselves would be lacking the input of the countless people the players above me have mentioned as leaving GW2 in the last 6-12 months. In terms of players who I know were loyal all through the history of GW1 and played GW2 with the same initial loyalty, I could make a list of friends alone big enough to roll tequatl that have seemingly logged off permanently.

We are at a turning point with the end of Season 2. The vocal community of gw2forums and of reddit are clearly unimpressed with both communication and depth of releases thus far. When this season ends, we don’t have anything else visible on the horizon. Undoubtedly we will see the christmas rehash, which will again face backlash for lack of new content.

So – if we wrap up bringing the fight to Mordry, it better happen in Ep. 8. Otherwise, what I foresee is based purely on experience: a lackluster feature pack after a couple months, and as has been said so many times in this thread, a LS with little-to-no replayability that I can wrap up in an hour or two after in drops. LS, however entertaining, can not be the focal point of releases in its current state. This will not perpetuate the game. It may slow down loss of players, but this is not the correct medication for the sickness we’re facing. It cannot correctly heal the affliction.

P.S. I know I’ve said enough already. However, I want to note on the example I think most reflects Colin’s hesitance to share with us. The mention of ‘new legendary gear and precursor crafting by the end of 2013’ was something players GENUINELY wanted to hear. This wasn’t a kitten half-hour story book, this was a game-changing, heavily desired feature that was clear it would have long-lasting, significant effects on the game. I know, I know, things get pushed ‘back to the drawing board’ for this reason or that. But seriously – where in the world is our update. Simply hearing ‘hey that might not happen actually’ in some stream somewhere? Trickle-down-disappointment for the entire playerbase, and at this point ANet is acting like they never said it. It’s been pulled back into the shadow-realm. The only reason I can think of to keep quiet on the updates you’re doing is because it’s better than what happened with that statement, but here’s the thing. THAT WAS BETTER. JUST KEEP TALKING ABOUT IT.

TL;DR for PS: Don’t sweep precursor crafting/new legendaries under the rug because you made a mistake in production. Acting like it never happened doesn’t work. We can still link to the page…. https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/looking-ahead-guild-wars-2-in-2013/
see? Notice that says looking ahead ‘IN 2013’? This is a principle reason why people claim lack of communication.

Double RNG Fractal Skins

How about one of the most characteristically ANet moments, when they released mention (and that_shaman data-mined codes of) the possibility of ‘fractal weapon boxes’ dropping. This was when the fractal leaderboard was reset, mind you. So where are those desired, choose-what-you-want weapon boxes that would ease this issue? Well, just like precursor crafting… WHO KITTEN KNOWS.

There was a mention by someone somewhere (or maybe it was just another joke from a player I took as a legitimate response) that the boxes were only going to drop from 51+.

“But Reiko, there isn’t a 51 or higher fractal level, and they haven’t given any impression it’ll be added in the even slightly visible horizon of a future!”

Yeah. Yeah, I know. My double fractal torch and sword drops would really like to have a word about that too. Been a year of fractals, still no staff.

Well this is the first thing I’ve ever entered like this, and it was because it’s both a super legit sword and a really tantalizing challenge. If that hardened leather guy sells through we’re all done, but personally I’ll try the recently fluctuating seaweed.

I bought 375 at 1.35-1.41 silver and spent right about 5.25g. I’m selling 375 seaweed for 13.10 silver for an intended return of 49.125g, hopefully meaning a 935.7% RoI.

Come onnnnnnnn secret release of 500 cooking

EDIT: So I can see the second image showing them relisted at 13.10 when I go to edit the post, but when I am on the thread page I only see the purchase image. Hoping this is just a lag in updating a post and not a mistake on my end – make no mistake, this is my entry!

The concern over cloning a legendary or any 1h-skin into your other hand needs to stop being argued with ‘where does the compensation end? What about t3 sets? etc etc….’ These are not comparable, and here is why. Armor sets and two-handed weapons, as well as 1h’ers going in the same slot, are different items for the sake of stats. You did not have two halves to your t3, of which people now only need 1 half to create the full appearance. The issue with cloning is exactly that – taking an item you have one of and SHOWING two. I don’t care frankly if you have one bolt and you have countless copies with different stats – but when you start taking that backup bolt and throwing it in the left-hand free of any charge besides transmutation, I have a problem. Please, recognize that these are separate. This qualifies for expensive skins like infinite light – it shouldn’t matter if you have multiple copies for different situations, but when that copy is equipable without equal effort, I find issue.

TL;DR – the ‘where does compensation end’ conversation is simple – when players’ past efforts are nullified with CLONING that misrepresents your efforts, not just when someone happened to have 2 of something.

It just… so doesn’t affect you at all what other people look like. That’s what I can’t, and won’t ever understand. Good luck though.

Well thanks for the wish of luck, though I can’t shake the thought it was not entirely heartfelt. Frankly, I don’t care what other people look like. What I care about is what I look like – I could have looked the same as I do now, sans 3 months effort, and I don’t think arenanet is doing people in our position justice with this update, which I will say again is primarily a good addition. I, as well as many others in this thread, are offering our feedback on how it could be tweaked so as not to invalidate our past efforts.

EDIT: I should say I do care somewhat what other people look like, as my above paragraph did seem to indicate as such, but only so much as that their visible gear indicates their work, and marginally so.

Can we stop saying “just un-bind the second one/duplicate”? The markets for these weapons have supply of 10-15. You are expecting hundreds of players to get weapons back that they will have no reason NOT to sell and the market to not fall apart? Hundreds of these hit the TP all once, and there are not enough people buying legendaries straight up to compensate. The market would be ruined for months.

TL;DR – un-binding is not a solution. Think of the markets.

Hi, from this point onwards, if you want to reply, please understand the topic of this thread. The original title was changed, but if you want to know the problem here, it is to the people who have duplicate legendaries and felt the wardrobe system is unfair.

If you want to comment on the BiS system, please DO NOT. We are talking about one legendary holders having unlimited amounts of that skin. Therefore making one incinerator holder appear to have two, while original dual incinerator holders feel like their second incinerator (obviously made for looks) is devalued as they worked much harder for the second.

If you are a person with one or no legendaries, please refrain from bashing people with multiple legendaries. If you have only one legendary of each type, great, but us duplicate holders feel that it shouldn’t be an unfair approach towards this when one incinerator holder can wield two of the same skin.

The thread might have started like that, but that’s because it left out that the person with 2 of the same legendary still has BiS even if another tier is added later, and switchable stats, while someone with just 1 and skins does not have this. YOU might now have made a 2nd of the same legendary for the BiS and switchable stats, but it doesn’t give you the right to act like EVERYONE with 2 of the same feels that this is unfair.

Pretty much everyone did. Everyone who came here to voice their opinions on the actual issue, ie people who actually have the second, duplicate legendary currently, came because they feel as though it was devalued. I’ve seen MAYBE one person say they care more about BiS. Sure, it’s a factor, but it’s not the reason for the discussion. Valkyrie was entirely right, his points were fair, and I would bet a large amount of money that 90% of the people in our position made their decision for the skin, not for the guaranteed BiS/switch ability.

Edit: Also, the BiS/switch stats doesn’t address people who owned 2 highly expensive but non-legendary skins, ie two Infinite Lights on a warrior or mesmer. This person had no reason to anticipate such a drastic move to devalue their effort, and they don’t even have the ‘yeah well you can still have best stats and swap them’ factor. This update, though primarily a great move, does a great disservice to dedicated players.

Who in their right mind uses ‘you can change stats’ as logic for why this is entirely okay. Ask yourself if you would pay 2500g for that ability on ANYTHING. I only play pve, I wouldn’t pay 10g for that option, much less 250x that. I did it solely for the skin, as I expect 98% of people did. I’m not embarrassed to say I spent a good amount of cash on gems to gold when I got close simply because I have more money than time TO AN EXTENT. With this feature pack, I literally spent that money for nothing but the change stats option, and that is just entirely unacceptable.

TL;DR – ‘you can still change stats’ is not a legitimate end to this conversation.

The thread about the concerns for players already dual-wielding legendaries (incinerator, bolt, quip, moot, frostfang) was deleted and merged with this thread, but this doesn’t seem to be focusing on that aspect at all – merely the concerns with the wardrobe in general, and for the most part, the issue with transmutation charges being as frustrating as crystals are currently.

Originally there was a page discussing duals, but it was merged here. There needs to be one, as this is worthy of it’s own focus. Players who spent months, and thousands of gold, creating legendaries because that was the only way to acquire that look have now had their work entirely nullified. I would like to see more attention on this, because it seems as though it isn’t going to be addressed in the slightest. Anet has said since beta that legendaries are supposed to be arduous and expansive quests to undertake, and blatantly devaluing our effort seems rude and thoughtless to some of the more dedicated players in the game.

I’ve said it before – limit the skins you can display. You can’t let players sell them, the market will crash so hard it’s absurd. So if you have 1 incinerator, or infinite light, or whisperblade or whatever the skin is, you can only display one at a time. Don’t let players clone their weapons into their other hand – this is stupid. I have no complaints about alts, as I know many players appreciate that addition. But having one incinerator and showing 2 makes everyone who made 2 feel like anet is the big bully who stole their lunch money.

For those thinking that removing the soul-bound aspect of your second legendary would fix things, consider the legendaries on the TP now. There are 13 incinerators currently posted and what I consider to be 5 serious offers (at 1900g +). This style compensation would result in hundreds of extra incinerators doing little else but entering the market. Value on bolt, incinerator and to a lesser extent quip would most likely plummet, for a good length of time, as demand for TP-purchased legendaries doesn’t swallow up market changes like flowing demand would for, say, the dye explosion we all saw occur this morning.

TL;DR – making the second legendary sellable will destroy these weapons’ markets and not net you the gold you’re thinking you’d get with such a fix.

So I’ve been raging up guild chat for a few hours now on this topic as far as dual-skins go, and I’ve considered many of the options. Making the second legendary or equivalent item, be it an expensive item like Infinite Light switch to unbound so as to sell it would flood the markets with the exact item you’re trying to sell, because those are the ones people want to relinquish. Compensation across the board is difficult to manage and practically impossible to have near 100% agreement on from the player base. My suggestion is this – if you have 1 legendary, or 1 weapon, you can only equip one at a time on the character. Sure, alts can have it, but you won’t feel cheated out of the full second legendary. This means if you made 2 incinerators, you can use 2 on other characters, but if you only made 1, you can only use 1 on your necro or ele, instead of having it literally move it’s skin to the other hand, free of the full 2000/2500g value or whatever you may have accrued, regardless of whether you made or bought it.

TL;DR – if you have 2 legendaries/skins right now, you can use 2. If you only have 1, your characters can only display one at a time. One Quip? Pick the hand that can display quip. 2 Quips? Thief and Engi can both show 2.
