Donari, I agree – Joshua Bell is awesome. And he certainly is easy on the eyes. And he’s quite the versatile violinist; his bluegrass album, Short Trip Home, is great.

If ANet keeps adding instruments, we might be able to have an entire in-game orchestra. I don’t know if it’s possible to play in a group like in LOTRO, but it would be really neat to be able to do.

A playable violin.

The only thing that has kept me from trying out the playable instruments so far is that my beloved instrument isn’t included.

My sylvari would look so elegant playing Boccherini or Mozart in the Grove, and there’s all those Irish fiddle tunes, too, just crying out for dancing. Please make it so!

(One caveat: please find a real violinist to play the samples for the in-game violin. Synthesized violins sound horrible. I’m sure someone at ANet has Itzhak Perlman’s home number.)

WvW no longer required for world completion

I completed world exploration, WvW included, and this change just makes me feel…elated. That’s the word – elated. My alts don’t have to suffer through the WvW maps and neither does anyone else. Elation all around!

Thank you for doing this, ArenaNet; you’ve made my day.

:) The Duke boys work for me, especially the blond one. :P
I’ve been reading a lot of US Civil War books lately, so the generals just snuck in there.

I’d like to see mounts added for purely personal, aesthetic reasons.
I’ve owned and showed horses for most of my life, and they’ve been my companions and (sometimes) my best friends. It seems like such a glaring omission for an adventurer not to have his or her faithful steed. Imagine the Lone Ranger without Silver, King Arthur on foot, or even General Grant without Cincinnati or General Lee without Traveller. The game just feels incomplete to me without mounts.
I don’t care about speed increases. I don’t care about, and in fact wouldn’t want, elaborate sparkles or flaming hooves or loads of spiky armor. Just a simple mount with utilitarian tack would be wonderful.
Aesthetically, they’d look neat, too, and could be chosen to suit the character. I can imagine my human ranger on a sturdy Fjord-type horse, my Sylvari guardian on an elegant Arabian charger, and my warrior on a black Friesian like the one in Ladyhawke. They would add new possibilities for individualizing characters beyond just armor. And there’s nothing saying that equines would be the only available mounts; that’s just my taste. A Charr on a huge tiger would look imposing and awesome.
Just my opinion, but mounts would add so much fun to the game.

Could I have an invitation to the NA guild, please? I’d posted before, so I think perhaps you missed me. (I belong to no guilds but my personal one.)

I’m interested in trying out the instanced group content in this game, but have no idea where to begin. I did raid quite a bit in That Other Game, so I’ve done group stuff before, just not in GW2.

I’d like to finish Mawdry, but I’d also just like to see what dungeons and fractals are like, and maybe meet some nice people in the process.

“This is the worst kind of content in the game, bar none.”

Agreed. I wonder to whom, exactly, this was intended to appeal? I feel empathy for all the people who just wanted to complete their mini collections and have run into this brick wall. I don’t see anyone having fun here, except some accountants and a few trolls.

For the record, I love this game and I’ve played it for a long time, RNG and all, but this feels cold-blooded and downright predatory.

Make the pet tradeable; it’s a simple solution to an artificially-created problem.

Unless, of course, you prefer that GW2 promote repetitive stress injuries and unhealthy behavior in its players. That definitely would not be a positive or attractive way for a game to present itself to prospective players.

Odd resets of achievements

I had finished off what I thought were the last two Tequatl achievements tonight, ‘Tail Flail’ and ‘I Found It!’, only to find that the ‘Above the Waves’ achievement that I had gotten yesterday had been reset, so I’m not done after all. It’s not a big deal; I can redo it. It’s just weird that it reset itself like that.

Also, the Dry Top lost coins appear to have reset as well for me. The count in the achievement panel is still accurate, but I’m finding coins that I know I already found, and which should therefore not be visible to me. These coins also don’t have any flash/discovery animation when clicked on; they just disappear.

Watchknights are a bit concerning....

I agree with the OP.
Heels in combat? Really? This epeeist isn’t buying it. Yes, it’s a fantasy game set in a fantasy world and blah blah blah, but the anvil of disbelief has just fallen with a resounding crash for me. The watchknight-fembot-things tottering around on their stilettos are some of the silliest things I have ever seen in a game.

How about some truly sinister, or at least dignified, clockwork guardians that don’t feed into already-pervasive sexual stereotypes? Why does a killer robot need to have a gender, anyway? Dr. Who managed to do without it; why can’t you, ArenaNet?

Finally, if ArenaNet is insistent upon indulging players’ fantasies in its game, then I at least demand equal time. I’d like some buff, mostly-naked male NPCs to leer at, myself. Actually, given the state of undress of the fembots, let’s go for the full monty.

Disappointed that there is no rapier [Merged]

I fenced all through college and for a year thereafter, I have a few swept hilt rapiers RL, I love the Three Musketeers (Michael York version, please) and swashbuckling. I am drooling for a rapier for my dashing Thief. It speaks to a whole genre that most MMOs lack.

I’m not at all surprised so many want them so very much.

This fellow fencer (epeeist) feels your pain. I dislike big, clunky-looking weapons, and was looking forward to something simpler and more elegant for my Sylvari thief.

Maybe the rapier skin will show up sometime in the future. One can only hope!

Achivement Points.

As I keep saying, my suggestion is not to exclude. It is simply to try to get people to try out more stuff not necessarily in PvE.

With all due respect, who appointed you arbiter of others’ choices of activities within the game? Even if your intentions are good, do you have any idea how condescending that sounds?

I know my tastes. I don’t need to be ‘nudged’ to try anything. I partake of in-game activities that interest me, and I ignore those that don’t. Perhaps we should just leave each to his or her own, and stop worrying about who gets what points from where.

Stop trying to fix something that isn’t broken in the first place.

Name: Reinhard

Main Character: Currently, 80 Sylvari necromancer, Daithio.
I also have an 80 ranger, and a guardian, engineer, warrior, and thief, all at 42-43.

Current Server: Fort Aspenwood – US

Interested Activities: I’m interested in trying plenty of different things. I’ve been playing for around two months, so it’s all quite new. I’m slowly working on world exploration, and making all my characters look dashing and well-dressed. I have a ways to go on both. <g>

Active: Sometimes during the day M-F; most evenings as well. (I’m in the US – Eastern time zone.)

Additional Comments: I was drawn to this game because I heard good things about the community, and also because the game’s design encourages more positive interactions between people than in other MMOs. So far, I’ve been pretty happy with what I’ve seen. I’m a former WoW player and (burned-out) raider, and, while I enjoyed playing the game, the rudeness (and sometimes out-and-out nastiness) of that community was what finally made me call it quits.

I’m rather quiet, but I’m friendly, and more than happy to help others if I can.
WoW made me gun-shy about people online, and I’m trying to relax again and just enjoy myself. I usually only play with my husband, but I’d love to try out all of the different aspects of GW2, including dungeons and PvP. I’m just looking for nice, laid-back people to explore Tyria with, with no pressure, and hopefully plenty of fun. And dashing clothes for the boys. Did I mention that?
