Karma boosters

Hi all,

I’m a returning player (2-3 year break) and am acquainting myself with all the new changes to GW2. I have a question regarding karma consumables (Jugs etc.). Are there any buffs at all that would increase my karma gain when I use the consumables? I know the various boosters no longer work, however I’m unsure about the guild buff or if there are any other options.

Thanks!

PvE/Roaming WvW Condi Build Request

Hi forum goers,

I’m a returning player (2 year break) looking for some assistance in making a fun all round condition build. I’ve checked out metabattle and posts, but can’t find anything I’d say fits my bill.

I’m looking for a condition build that offers competitive damage output with some survivability.

Does anyone have any experience running something like this with success? I don’t need to worry about having a perfect raid/WvW build, just something that I can be competitive with.

Thanks for your input.

Guild Wars 2 has a lot going for it. It’s my opinion that the combat system is one of, if not the best in the MMO industry at the moment. The fluid dodge mechanics, and lack of the holy trinity (Tank/DPS/Healz) make for a unique environment. For me, this is what the main draw of GW2 is. Plus it has destructible environments. So much potential.

It’s a shame that they (the designers) are not capitalizing on this strength. Skins are nice and all – and the game is extremely pretty; but I’d rather have new content that highlights the strength of the game. Creative maps for WvW/sPvP/dungeons, and interesting mechanics for PvE, WvE/sPvP would accomplish this. As a returning player, I see nothing that captivates me. If anything the “living story” is a detriment to my enjoyment of the game as I find the quality of it sub standard (the writing and character interactions are nauseatingly saccharine.). For those that enjoy the “living world”, that’s nice that you do; however different strokes for different folks.

My suggestions:

1. Living Story updates quarterly.
2. Do away with Server vs. Server for WvW and make it based on teams of guilds (for guild vs. guild).
3. Add new dungeons/maps.
4. Drop new dungeons into WvW and link the two together.
5. Continue with adding skins etc., to the cash shop.
6. Capitalize on the strengths of the game.

That’s what would make me stay around, and play this game over new ones coming out. To each their own.

The perma stealth troll build is not fun to fight. That’s the biggest thing right there. I can face any other class and have a fun fight except the perma stealth, healing, untouchable Thief. Some are exceptionally hard to fight, such as a D/D ele, but none ruin the enjoyment of a fight more than a troll Thief. Troll builds = bad. Thief should be fun to play and fun to fight against. ArenaNet missed the mark.

Core is a guild from Borlis Pass. Core is a group of strong players who look to excel in all aspects of the game. We believe there is always room to improve. We are looking to field additional players in WvW across all time zones. If you would like to join a group of individuals who have the skill to win, help each other in all aspects of gameplay, promote a positive gaming environment without drama and are dedicated to taking their gameplay to the next level – look no further.

Cores accomplishments and items of note:
- Server respected Commanders covering multiple time zones.
- Proud member of the Borlis Pass WvW Alliance (PACT)
- Anti-cheating code of conduct. We will never exploit to win in WvW. We believe in a fair fight and sportsmanship. Within that framework…alls fair.
- Mix of Time Zones. Core has active members across all timezones. Players range from Pacific, N.America, to Euro.
- Tight knit community. Core has a high retention of guild members due to our belief that each of our members is a person who brings value to our community, not a number.
- Voice communication. Core hosts and promotes voice communication for better group coordination.
- Knowledgable community. Information regarding all aspects of gameplay can be obtained from our members. Character builds, WvW strategies etc.
- Unique guild events. Core holds weekly/monthly guild events, covering every aspect of the game. Holding guild exclusive events for special seasonal events also. Events of note include Lotteries (prizes including corrupted weapons, cash etc.) and guild EB Jump puzzle clears with siege donations to active WvW members.
- Dungeon Masters. The ability to clear all dungeons swiftly. Core kills Lupicus with no deaths, Magg’s Defense without death kiting. All dungeons are on farm (this includes all paths of Arah). Speed clears of any dungeon.
- Currently Core has the record for the most Legendaries on Borlis Pass, with well over 20 in the guild.
What is CORE looking for in prospective members?
- A desire to win in WvW and excel in gameplay.
- The ability to work individually and within a team.
- A positive attitude. We want people to encourage success.
- Loyalty to the guild. We request that our guilds members wear our tag with pride and contribute to our community.

Transmuting Legendary Weapons

After working for quite sometime, I was able to create my first legendary item. Only to find that it’s not quite as “legendary” as I was hoping. For my particular setup, the base stats of pow/tough/vit do not work as well as an exotic with my preferred stat setup. An exotic I will add, which I can buy off the TP, or obtain in a few days through explorer dungeons. I would very much like an option to transmute the legendary and replace the current statistics with a set currently available on other exotic items while retaining the legendary classification of the weapon. The time investment I put into obtaining this weapon makes not being able to customize without losing its legendary status quite disappointing.

They need to implement karma chains in other zones that are as good as plinx. Give people more options.

" Save Yourself!" Nerfed - Seriously why??

Hi Svarty,

I approach things in an aggressive manner and try to utilize all the tools in the box so to speak (not saying you don’t). I dodge every time I can which adds up to a lot of healing. I work to position myself so that when I dodge, I’m dodging INTO the group I’m with since my dodges heal, so I’m healing them at the same time. Also I’m using a hammer which is incredible for adding to my suvivability. I noticed a large difference when I changed out the GS (WR numbers are fun though). I try to keep protection up at all times on myself, as well as regen. In addition to my dodges, I’m never standing still. I’m constantly moving in and out of range of the mobs timing my hits. I mitigate a lot of damage by the dodge combined with positioning and I believe that it’s those two things that most influence how well I do in a given fight, not the skills I’ve chosen to have available. I also don’t pigeonhole myself into only using melee weapons, I will use ranged often. Sceptre is a really great weapon. I don’t think I’d ever recommend face tanking a boss, but if you really like being a bruiser, try out the lifestealing sigil and the lifestealing food to augment your self healing. It’s a great combo with my hammer and I feel the healing given is huge.

I’m not in the back waiting on cool downs to toss out another few seconds of boons,

I often find myself having to withdraw from a tanking role if an encounter drags on too long (most encounters – though I had an amazing 3-thief team yesterday that took mobs down so fast!). I’m in the back waiting on my self-heal cooldown because the boss wiped 80% of my HPs in one hit and there’s no other way to recover them.

My dungeon experience is something like:
Fire Save Yourselves, tank a bit, aegis a hit, block a bit, blind a bit Virtue of Justice (if the boss is one of the few that doesn’t reduce blind to being useless), try to keep Protection up with mace3, shield4, Hold the Line or Virtue of Courage, try a knockback with shield bubble (occasionally it works), use virtues and skills to give more aegis, try to dodge if I see obviously telegraphed uber attack, suddenly lose 80% of my hit points in one hit, dodge away, wait for self-heal, hit it and jump back in.

On some bosses it’s all good, on others it’s a bloody nightmare and I have to give up and kite.

Guardian damage is fine. Folks need to stop thinking that support, or having heals means not doing damage. The game is different, no face tanking bosses and dedicated healers are here. I support my group with a lot of boons, healing and do great damage all at the same time. I’m not in the back waiting on cool downs to toss out another few seconds of boons, I’m in the front leading the charge to the next target beating them to a pulp.

Just using Sigil of Blood and the 60% food I was face tanking most mobs in Arah last night without having to use my heal very much. Regen/Protection, AH and lifesteals were plenty to keep me going.

Bunker = increased survival. It’s an option. Just not what you want to do.

Let’s not forget thieves oponly admit op powers and show it off in videos, but are not punished like Guardians are. This includes the bizarre Line of Warding nerf, more op than thieves, elems and mesmers.

Punished? Really? You personally are being “punished”? Oh the hyperbole. I think you need to stop playing games and get some fresh air.

So the 5% from the 2 Armor Runes adds to the chance to get a Lifesteal? Or its a separate lifesteal proc entirely? I thought it would be a separate lifesteal, 1 from armor 1 from weapon with a bonus % from the food applied to both.

Fabsm – How important is the effect from the two runes? Do you think the food and sigil are good enough to use without it?

Badwrong – Just to toss this out, I don’t believe that anyone has a problem with your points that the build may not be the best in all circumstances, or that certain builds may or may not have an advantage over it. Rather, the approach you took in communicating your view point.

What I’ve gotten from this thread since making a warrior is that the build is a generalists build, not that it is the “best” in all given situations. Instead, it’s “good” in all situations and most importantly, it is FUN to play. I can attest that it is indeed very fun to play and I don’t feel overly weak against anyone. As a note – I started a warrior and went from 1-80 (full exotic gear) using this spec. With that said, my I also have an 80 guardian (full exotics) running a hammer build and it has huge advantages over Yojacks build in certain situations, so I can see where you’re coming from. Nothings perfect.

Are the Sparks working correctly? My group coud not consistently get sparks to get trapped when luring them to the appropriate location during Simins heal phase. They would just stroll around the pillar ignoring the cage things even though they were pathing through them. Sometimes however we would get them locked up extremely quickly, which is confusing as we would not do anything differently. Sometimes it worked, others not. Our strategy seems appropriate, 2-3 breaks right before the heal phase starts to collect them. 2 stay back. Thoughts?

Hey all, great posts and a very fun build. I had swapped from Guardian over to Warrior and all but given up on it until seeing this thread. Now I’m enjoying life on the Guardian a lot more. I’m running the 0/15/30/20/5 build. I am in all green knights gear with a green weapon (berserker). Frequently I have other Guardians asking how I’m able to survive in explorer dungeons so easily compared to them when they are in exotic gear. So for anyone reading this post and wondering if this is viable for new 80’s in junk gear, yes it is.

I have a question and am hoping someone will be kind enough to answer. I was reading on page 1 where Brutaly was saying he’d move over to Pow/Vit/Tough armor. I’ve started getting the Koda armor w/those stats. In order to get my offensive stats up enough, I am assuming I will need a Berserker Hammer. I’m wondering what Jewelry to slot to optimize the setup though. Recommendations?
