There are so many incorrect theories in this thread that I feel I should help set things straight.
1. The ecto salvage rate has not changed since release.
2. Magic find does not affect salvage results.
3. Inconsistent short-term results are consistent with random chance.
That is all.
Of course, and you forgot to mention that Mystic Forge is NOT affected by diminishing returns hehe
So most desirable item in game can be bought with real money with no in game effort involved.Bit disappointing.
It’s “confirmed, children exist” from factions all over again.
Yes. Horses exist. Cats exist. Ocean Dwelling demontype lanternfish exist. Some things can just be assumed. This does not mean you get mounts. Or at least, I hope so.
I see this statement a lot on GW2 themed forums and i do not understand it. Is there anything wrong with mounts in mmo games or in GW2 in particular? Do they imbalance gameplay in any way? Is it against lore or for some aesthetic reasons? If anyone could explain it to me I would be grateful.
Some of you seem really down.. I am sorry you guys are having such bad luck.
I also weren’t too happy with the drops while leveling my main from 1 – 80.
Constant paranoia about DR almost made me put down the game for good. Then one of my friends purchased the game so I decided to run around with him while he levels.Since I was going to lower level zones, I made sure I got nice magic find accessories, magic find runes (Traveler/Noble), magic find sigil and magic find food. And so came the most fun I had in this game.
I spent only two nights running around with him. I realized the frequency of greens and bags were much better than when I first visited the area, so I wanted to go test it around the world.
It was incredible, for the first time I saw Lodestones and Exotics drop. I even had one Exotic (level 80) drop from a Moa that I accidentally pulled with my AoE damage in a level 35 zone (yet I’ve seen claims they don’t drop in lower areas). I also bag the odd Exotic from dungeons, which I never had before changing my gear.
One very important note though: Drops are noticeably worse without the MF food. It is so bad, that after killing a couple of mobs and checking the drops I can actually tell that the effect from the food has worn off (should I forget to keep an eye on the buffs).
You were very lucky then. Not so long ago I was trying to get some lodestones from high lvl destroyers with almost 150 % magic find.It took me 3 hours to get one rare armor piece, some t5 mats(around 25-30) and grey trash. No lodestones, no cores.I play GW2 since head start and I haven’t seen even one piece of exotic gear nor lodestone on any of my lvl 80 characters.Only exotic gear I got was for high lvl zone completion.
I have to take a minute to thank Colin J. for posting in this thread recently. Before that, I believe that many players were hesitant to post their observations due to not wanting to be seen as ‘complainers’.
Since then, we are getting new posters and observations that confirm the issue as Colin did in his post. This can only help to get to the solution quicker.
There are too many new posters to quote but thanks to you all for some very good reporting of your loot experiences in-game!
Thanks Colin.
Hmmm…Is there anything relevant to the topic of this thread in what author of this post wrote here? Should I also understand that he/she is working for the developer?Because I do not see any other reason somebody would write anything like that.
From my experience with drops and loot:
- magic find have small to none impact on drops for most desirable items like lodestones or T6 mats, because increase from lets say 0,00001% by 100% is still very small
-magic find is put to good use if you farm t5 or lower tier mats because their drop rate is fairly high and magic find makes it even higher
