Hello everyone, I hope I am posting this in the right section, I do not post much around here, but a fellow player has pointed out in a reddit topic that he liked my idea and that I should post it here. Also, English is not my mother tongue so I apologise in advance for any mistakes.

History of Tyria

An additional tab in the hero panel would be called History of Tyria. When opened, you would see a panel similar to the collections where you need to collect certain items to complete it.

This would tie in with all the zones we have in Tyria. The current system is that you complete the zone you are in by doing heart quests, skill challenges etc. This would all stay the same, but with some extra quests for the lore fans. I was thinking of 5-10 zone lore quests in a form similar to the personal story, but for each zone. It would not count towards map or world completion, it would just be some kind of a side quest for your own personal satisfaction if you want to know the history of the zone you are in. These quests would include information about: history of the zone, how it was created, when, who were the first settlers, major events throughout history, the threats in the zone, about the flora and the fauna, sacred grounds, monuments, relics etc. you get the idea.

I know you can get some information from scouts in the area, but it’s just more of a short description.

There would be rewards, achievements and titles for it, of course. So if I give an example:

• You open the History of Tyria tab
• There you can find 33 badges/emblems that represent each zone (I think there are 33 altogether?) on the left side and the collections panel on the right side
• You can click on each of the badges to expand them and see the lore quests you are required to do to complete them. There would be a number on them similar to the one in achievements like 3/5 completed
• When you complete one, you get the title, achievement and one kind of relic that’s specific for that zone to put it into your collections

And when you finish the whole collection there’d also be an honorary title and a grand prize for it.

I hope I didn’t complicate it too much, sounds fine in my head

Tell me what you think and if there are any potential problems that could arise with such an implementation. Also, this is just more of a quality of life idea, it’s not something that it’s necessary, but it would be nice.

Armor: Tested Aetherblade Gauntlets and Aetherblade Pauldrons.

Issue: Both Gauntlets and Pauldrons clip with 90% of the shields.

I made a gallery of 94 shields that show the clipping (94 shields because others are just duplicates in different color etc.)

Regarding the IP, yes I’ve set it up that way. I used ipconfig /all and used the information to input my own IP address in the TCP/IP settings, used the DNS servers from my ISP. I forwarded all four ports using that static IP and port 80 and 443 are still not open. I don’t understand it…

I haven’t called them because everything else works fine, I don’t even know how to present my case. I can chat on skype, browse the web, play CoD and whatnot while my GW2 skills are flashing and disconnecting.

Thank you for your input. How do I set up a line monitor? As I’ve mentioned before, everything else works fine while this happens in GW2, so I’m guessing the AP is transmitting back, no?
And regarding the access, I wouldn’t say so. Nothing was mentioned to me and no information regarding the AP was given at any point. It’s a small tower with a “satellite-dish-looking-thingy” on top I’m sorry, I don’t have much knowledge in this area.

Side question:
When I was forwarding my ports, the guide on portforward said that I need static IP. My connection type is PPPoE and I was assigned no static IP at the beginning, so I assume I have dynamic IP. So I followed the guide on portforward to make my IP static. Then when portforwarding, I opened 80, 443, 6112 and 6600 (the ones I know GW2 needs) and when I tested them if they’re open, it shows that 6112 and 6600 are open and the other two are closed. I don’t understand how this is possible as I took the same action for all four of them …
And after I made my IP static, should I also change the connection type in the router configuration to static IP? I think I’ve tried it, but then my internet didn’t work.

I was afraid this might be the root of the problem. Well, I am still bound by contract to this ISP so it’s a no-go at the moment, but if everything bodes well, our area is getting fiber-optics later this year. That should solve the problem, no?

I hope someone has an answer to my problem because I don’t know how to solve this. I’ve tried many things.

THE PROBLEM:
I login normally. Loading the map sometimes takes ages or I get disconnected while in loading screen. When I manage to get in-game, the lag or whatever should I call this, is horrible. All my skills only blink, I can’t talk to any NPCs, the only thing that seems to work is the Trading Post. I can search for items and buy them etc. This usually leads to a disconnect or the action I took happens with a two minute long delay.

THE SOLUTIONS I’VE TRIED SO FAR:
I have:
- tried WTFast
- tried Battleping
- tried Laetrix
- tried running GW2 with -clientport 80
- deleted Local.dat and used -repair
- forwarded the ports used by GW2

OTHER INFORMATION:
GW2 worked well in the first few months. When Karka attack came, the lag was horrible (not just at the event with a lot of people but anywhere). Then during Wintersday 2012 it was all good again and this continued. For some patches it was good, then lag started again and so on and so forth. But never have I experienced anything like I am now. Skills flashing etc.
I make sure that all “bandwidth-eating” programs are closed when I play, I recently formatted my computer as well. Browsing the web and downloading is fine, perfectly normal. Playing for example Call of Duty = no problem. I get steady 30 ping on German servers. The only other game I have had problems with is Aion. So I’m guessing my ISP has a quarrel with MMORPGs or my router configuration is blocking something somewhere?

MY SETUP:
My area doesn’t have a lot options for internet services, so my ISP has a tower (transmitter?) set up approximately 500 meters away from my house. My modem is a wireless receiver. The signal is green and maxed out, as I said, I don’t have problems with other games or browsing. The connection type is PPPoE, and I’m behind a Dlink router. The connection speed is 2Mbps. I tried connecting my PC to the internet at my friend’s house. They have an EMX connection which uses PPPoE as well, and it runs smoothly there.
Judging from all this, I’m going to have to blame my ISP, but I’m wondering if anyone has any other idea to solve this because not many ISPs are available here (maybe 2-3) and others offer even lower connection speeds.
I’m from EU, playing on Gandara.

Sidenote: Before I forwarded the ports I had this horrible lag. After I forwarded them it was all good for about three days. Now the last three days every day around 5 P.M. I get the same lag, as if the ports “unforward” themselves and then forward themselves again in a few hours.

Chests seem to work fine for me, and it’s great that you added them. I don’t know what others mean by chests being easy to miss or not being visible enough + that they spawn too slow.

All the chests that appeared to me come with a steamy glow, they appear the moment the monster dies, and they’re not easy to miss. Quite the contrary, example:
You’re in Orr doing Plinx or something, where you could easily miss some of the loot because of the amount of mobs or some mobs died in a rock or whatever. With the chests you just turn around and press Ctrl, and it’ll show it to you.
I really love this addition, but yeah, if they’re buggy for the majority of people, they need some polishing

They’re usually killing the Icebrood Colossus mobs, and they’re teleporting around like madmen But once I stumbled upon a group of rangers there, south of the Ice Floe Waypoint by the Skelks. Their levels ranged from ~8 to ~30, they were all naked, had funny names, and were running in a straight line up and down, and there were like 15 of them. I could only report 9 because they were so tight together + they all had pet bears out, and I couldn’t click on all of them.

I’ve been silently “suffering” since the Lost Shores update as well. The lag spikes started then. I play on Gandara (which, I believe, is located in Germany), and my normal ping to any kind of servers there is around 30-45. I have 2 separate connections in my household, and I lag on both of them. Any other games run fine, for example CoD on German servers = constant 40 ping without any lag spikes or anything.

My patience is at the end. It’s been over 3 weeks now since the lagging began. Every few seconds there’s the skill delay lag and rubberbanding, etc. Then, every time in the range of 5-30 minutes there’s the part where I see players nearby running into walls, which ultimately leads into disconnection. Disconnects also occur on map switching, viewing vistas, etc. It’s really frustrating. I’m not usually the whiny type, but it’s been 3 weeks now, and it seriously demotivates me to further put my time in the game.

Hope it gets fixed soon, but until then:

Hey, I know how you feel bro

I did this in all MMORPGs → Brute power over everything else. The same here in GW2, I built my guardian as a straight up brute killing machine, and didn’t give a chance to other weapons/builds. It is only after some time that I got extremely bored of my look, play style, build, gear, weapons, utilities.

And yeah, if you like doing high damage, it’s a kick in the nuts for when you switch (I shed a tear when this happened), but it’s worth it

I must say, I followed Brutaly’s advice on AH Hammer build, and it has done wonders for me. So I’ve started experimenting, and been sporting a staff for the last 3 days and it’s friggin awesome

It opens a whole new world for you and your character, just suck it up and refund your traits :P

Oh yeah, about dodging. I’d say it’s like the top 3 things you need to know how to do in a fight. Saved me COUNTLESS! times, and if you time it right it serves as a pretty awesome defense system. A few examples I can think of when dodge saves your behind is:
- Colossus Rumblus → When it drops rocks from the ceiling, which knock you down.
- From the new dungeon the Oakheart boss that sends out shockwaves that 1-hit you.

Not to mention the dodge heal minor trait, which combined with heal gear can save lives

Just try out things, get all the weapons and play with every single one of them and get to know their skills.

I have one question. Following Brutaly’s guide I got the pre/vit/heal gear from karma, and socketed 2 hoelbrak, 2 fire (still need the 2 strength), and I noticed that my might duration didn’t change. I mean it’s already 40% might duration from those 4 runes, and I tried EM on staff and got 11 seconds. If my math skills didn’t fail me, 40% from 10 1/2 seconds isn’t half a second.

What did I miss here guys? Help please

I would really like this option, too.
But what really annoys me is that you can’t preview a weapon in “combat” mode. I think that should be added, too, or it is and I’ve missed it somewhere? In the preview window there should be a button to toggle between drawn out weapons and sheathed weapons. Cause some weapons have awesome skins or might look awesome in combat mode, but when I preview it, it is not all that appealing.

Long story short:

In AC Explorable mode path 2 at the last boss, my client crashed at boss’ 5% health, and the group completed it without me. I logged back in and got nothing. No xp, reward, nothing. I’m sorry if this has been posted already or if it’s not considered a bug.
