Thanks for all the great responses so far, i’ve grown to like the hammer a bit recently after using it for a bit, the symbol traits also help quite a bit – loving the constant aoe support from the hammer aa. Is this one of the (or the most) important reasons why guardians use hammers in pve/raids? The symbol uptime?

Also, how competitive are condi burn builds in pve now? Kinda enjoy the melting playstyle too. Would that be one-handed sword/scepter+torch?

Thanks again all!

Helllloooooooo,

I’m leveling my guardian right now and was wondering whether or not one-handed weapon builds are viable in end-game pve? Open-world? Fractals? Raids?

I’ve seen some people run hammer/mace+shield, but i’m thinking of going right-hand strength and using mace+shield/scepter+focus. Would not using a hammer kitten my dps or symbol support too much to be viable or competitive?

Thanks in advance for all the help.

Thanks for the response, anyone know where to put the command lines though?

I’ve been trying to add in a command line to cap my fps lower than 30 (preventing occasional overheating, I don’t mind capping at 25.) However, i’ve tried adding command lines in two different places:

1. Applications/Guild Wars 2 (open package contents)/Contents/Resources/CiderSettings.plist
- I currently have

<string>—cmdline “-umbra gpu -fps 25”</string>

Doesn’t seem to change anything, the umbra gpu line was there when I opened the file.

2. Library/Application Support/Guild Wars 2/config
- I currently have

[AppDefaults\\GW2.exe\\transgaming]
“CmdLineAdd” = “-fps 25”

at the bottom of the file, and it seems to cap the character selection screen fps at 25. However, after I log into a character, the fps is capped once again at 30, which is selected through the graphics settings in the game menu.

Are these the right places to be adding command lines for macs? Might not make too big of a difference by capping at 25 fps rather than 30, but i’d like to know how the process works anyway.

Also, would the command line -dx9single improve performance on macs?
