Thanks for the screenshot. Yeah, you had episode 8 unlocked (either you got it for free in January or you bought it). Episodes 1-7 show as locked in your journal so the content guide put you on the only one available.
I wanted to clarify this.
I have all the LS2 episodes unlocked and I’ve done them all when they were released, so I don’t get confused by such things and I remember my situation pretty well. This is what happened to me multiple times:
- When I completed Victory or Death on one of my alts, the green indicator put me on the newest LS2 chapter – for instance, if it happened in November 2014, it directed me onto Tangled Paths and so on.
- When I completed Victory or Death on my other alts – after the release of the final LS2 chapter, Point of No Return, it put me onto this very chapter, specifically the first mission, Arcana Obscura. I believe this is what happened to OP.
In those situations I needed to quit the episode in question and manually start Disturbance in Brisban Wildlands (first mission of chapter 1).
I have all the LS2 episodes unlocked, so it’s not a case of directing you onto your earliest unlocked one – probably it moves you to the newest unlocked.
At first I thought this was intentional, something like advertizing your newest chapter so that players can check what’s hot at the moment and join right in, etc. Then I figured the dev team probably didn’t remember to change it :P
Perhaps this counts as a bug?
Question 1
When the September update went live, I was during The Greatest Fear chapter on one of my characters. Even though the content got removed, my character stayed on her step — I figured you had let people like me finish the chapter instead of advancing us forward. For some reason I decided not to continue the story on that specific character, maybe because I was curious how things would go down in the future (hints of future restoration of TGF were already there). Therefore the character’s next mission at the moment is Wet Work. What will happen to her story progression after the update? Will she be moved somewhere forward for some reason? Should I be afraid of some nasty bugs such as blocking further completion and it would be safer to complete Wet Work now (and: am I able to do the rest of TGF now)? Am I safe to stay at the step and complete it after the update (i.e. her step after the update will still be Wet Work)?
Question 2
What is the reason of moving players who are in the middle of the “moved” chapter 8 straight into Victory or Death? Are the reasons strictly technical, such us letting them stay on, say, Source of Orr could create a mass of bugs? Also, if we complete all those moved steps and get to the mission Temple of the Forgotten God, does that mean we will have to complete the missions in question once again after the update goes live (they were before TotFG, after the update they will be after it)?
Just so you know, I was wondering about potential solutions to this problem, and the second completion of those missions (such as Source of Orr) seems like the only natural one, but I’m curious what you ultimately decided to do.
My yesterday’s login reward was a chest of exotic equipment. I picked guardian’s gear and received an exotic… warhorn.

Here (it’s 22:13) everything’s back to normal already (I did see big heads about one hour ago). I guess it depends on a time zone.
As the ascended weapons will be introduced and legendaries are getting boost to not be left behind, the fate of exotics looks rather bleak. I think I don’t need to remind that there are less and more valuable exotics out there. The fact that the crafted exotics will no longer be the best gear in game and therefore will be “useless” and forgotten is something that is somewhat understandable, but there are also many, MANY exotics which are really expensive and have beautiful, unique skins. Say, the “mists” weapons. Or the new weapons dropping from the champion bags. Or all the good stuff that you can get from the Mystic Forge. That’s the pinnacle of the game for me. Are they really meant to become worthless?
