They could just make it salvageable. I mean really it would make a dent in the economy at first with people dumping their stock of badges, but after that Badge farming is a lot harder than Dungeon Token farming, and the economy would balance itself out in less than a month.
Badge farming isn’t really that hard with EotM out. The map is a giant karma/badge farm everytime I’ve gone there.
That said I’d love some option to get my runes out of my old badge gear, that doesn’t require the gem store.
I find I’m enjoying sword/axe as a weapon set (despite/in spite that it is isn’t considered a ‘good’ combination), but I can’t see a good trait setup to optimize it.
Any suggestions?
Because it was never broken in the first place, and it’s definitely not a bug. Many of us don’t want them to touch it.
Actually Anet has said it’s broken but that they haven’t figured out how to fix it just yet.
1) Lack of condition removal options is a problem with our class at the moment…so not much. Traited Signet of Renewal or Brown Bear’s F2 can help. I think there are a couple more but I don’t recall what they are right now.
2) Stay close? I’ve only had that problem when they move away in mid animation.
3) F1 forces your pet to attack the selected target. It will continue to do so until the target is dead, it dies, you tell it to attack another target, or you call it back to you with F3 (or downed skill 3). F3 will, in my observations, pulls the pet back to your side and keep it there until you tell it to attack or begin fighting a new target. Passive behavior means the pet wont attack anything without use of F1. Aggressive behavior means the pet will attack your current target.
Note: If you change targets while you have the pet set to aggressive and haven’t used F1, it will change targets also.
4)No special reason I know of.
5) Anet wants rangers to use the pet. There is a lot of debate in the community right now on if Anet should allow us to perma stow them or just fix their AI. A little pet management can help with AoE pet deaths.
I don’t claim to be an expert but these are my experiences.
I tried to put this in the post your build sticky but it told me I wasn’t allowed
I need a little build help. I’m looking to spend more time with my sword/axe then my longbow, but I can’t see a better set up for my traits.
I am slowly moving to a full soldiers set (ascended because I can). I don’t like/want Berzerker due to survivability concerns. (I have tried. Zerk and my style don’t get along.)
In defense of my fellow rangers, all classes have poor players that frustrate and irritate the rest of the player base. Some, and warrior is the first that springs to mind, are simply more effective with poor play. Not to hate on warriors or other classes but it feels a little overlooked to me.
That said, the sheer venom I’ve noticed (recently) directed at rangers boggles my mind. I’m with the OP on this. Is there more of a reason for it then simply mechanics? How does choosing ranger make me the cause of all things that fail in a group event?

Ranger since launch but more from love then skill. I’d like the chance to chat with fellow rangers and improve.
In the context of our existing trait lines, it feels like a step in the wrong direction. As a long time ranger main, I am praying that it’s a sign of a major trait restructure.
That said, others are right. Don’t panic/freak out until the patch hits and we see what we actually get.
