@JustTrogdor. I opened a support ticket for the Gem purchase a while back. The solution was to use windows.

@FlamingFoxx. As I said, unless you have something constructive to say, there is no point responding as you are not offering technical support.

First support tickets do nothing. I opened a support ticket for all the issues I posted on and none of them were fixed, just “We know about the issues”. I even had a developer in game ask me to test some stuff when I first noticed the issue (Thanksgiving, nearly 3 weeks ago).

Second, the tgupdate has absolutely nothing to do with Mavericks. It had been working perfectly until I had to do a clean re-install of GW2. There are people who don’t have any issues who are on Mavericks.

“I myself have ML still and have never experienced a single issue. "

Because you play it using Bootcamp (according to you), which is the Windows client.

I agree with MikeeW , none of this started happening until around the tower of Nightmares.

I switched over to Bootcamp yesterday. It took a long time to set up from scratch and thankfully I had already paid the €299 for Windows some time back, but the hoops and continual patch updates was a PITA. (which is why I am annoyed)

So I am running the windows client at this point. Oddly enough as 99% of the stuff I do is in OSX, the incentive to reboot the machine to play GW2 has dropped.

I will also no longer be purchasing any gems with real world cash until we get a working Mac client.

Yes to fully utilise the Mac Client you only need to do the following steps.

1. Purchase and download Microsoft Windows. (avg price $200)
2. Run bootcamp installer to set up a partition.
3. Boot into that partition and install all patches for windows.
4. Install a virus checking software.
5. Install windows version of Guildwars 2.

And presto! Your Mac client has never worked so better! /s

@FlamingFoxx you are really not helping. I’ve been reading a few of your comments and they have either been unhelpful or antagonistic to people who have real issues with the client and expect to use it, not be told to run windows.

You want to help, explain in detail step by step how to set up and run GW2 in wineskin. Because I tried that and I can tell you straight off without those steps it is impossible for anyone to do.

Also amazing as it sounds but many Mac users don’t have MS Windows, nor want it.

TL;DR Telling someone to run windows is not a solution.

Mavericks has absolutely nothing to do with the issues. The game worked perfectly up until I did a clean install of the client (and was running fine on Mavericks).

If it is working for you, I recommend not installing from scratch.

It’s the key above the tab on rMBP. I was using it for weapon switching.

I had this happen a few times if I played the game for a long period. I disabled the lock on screensaver.

It has nothing to do with temperatures. More likely the machine is going to auto lock in the background and the client is not stopping that.

I am at my wits end at this point. After numerous reinstalls for the last month or so, dealing with support I had 0 issues solved.

- Can’t buy gems. Solution = Use Windows.

- Can’t get my § shortcut back. Told it doesn’t work, so how was it working since I installed the game and only failed on the recent reinstall? Had to change my shortcuts.

- Mouse goes crazy and has nothing to do with the suggested solution I was given. Only solution to CMD-Tab out and in again once I am in the game.

- TgUpdate dialog taking 1-10 minutes when launching. Was suggested to install from an untrusted source a copy of the client (which does not work).

- Default graphics settings crashes OSX (have to hard reboot). I fixed this by launching from a windows machine and changing the graphics settings until the crash stopped occurring.

So I still have all these issues. The game actually worked at one point, so I don’t accept the fact we are told to live with these.

Now the latest patch the game just crashes after 1-3 minutes entering WvW. Also randomly crashes in other zones. LA, KH and the Winter games are the only places it hasn’t crashed.

I’ve given up at this point.

> – you’ve already purchased GW2 and given them money

ArenaNet make money on Gems and goods in the store. For example to date I have spent €200 on the store vs the €74.99 I paid for the game.

They would have had €50 more a week ago if it wasn’t for the fact the store no longer works for the Mac client (they know about this and are trying to fix it).

> the potential revenue from a native client is probably not worth the cost of producing said client.

Well as it stands now the current client is unplayable for me. So if the next patch doesn’t fix all the issues I’ll be dropping the game until such time that it does.

> Best tip ever – install windows 7 64bit via bootcamp and play GW2 through there.

Yea, imagine you had to tell a windows player to make the game playable they paid for was they had to install OSX and boot up native into it.

I have had this exact same issue for over a week now. Done all the steps above and a complete reinstall (to fix other issues).

I guessing they clone themselves. One day they go “Hmm, I need another lab assistant to clean this place up” and the rest is history.

Installed from scratch. A number of issues.

Hi,

I installed the client from scratch again. I did this twice as updating twice I got critical errors while updating.

So when the third time ran without error I get the following issues.

1. I get an update window before the client launches. Takes about a minute for it to complete. (Transgaming update looks like). tgUpdate version 1.11

2. I cannot bind § to weapon switch. I could before.

3. Black Lion does not work. Attempting to buy gems give me some weird javascript error and fails.

4. Mouse spinning camera issue is resolved (why I reinstalled).

… I’ve tried relogging, restarting, running repair, removing “~/Library/Application Support/Guild Wars 2” (so it’s recreated).

Further playing around, it looks to me the issue is with Cider/Transgaming components and not the GW2 client as such.

During the tinkering I also broke my install. So reinstalling from scratch again.

Logged in this morning to get the exact same issue. If you CMD-Tab out it resets, but the reset can go in the opposite direction (goes too slow). If I leave it windowed and click on desktop/back it works fine.

Also I can no longer weapon switch using § . Nothing I am aware of has changed on the machine.

Ran Verify. Completed and still the same issue. Only message in the Terminal.

Glad I found this note. I thought it was part of an event, and I’ve been trying to fight/clean it out for over an hour until I got put into an exploding barrel chain which killed me even when I resurrected.

Finally was able to run away. Needs a warning sign nearby if they don’t plan to fix it.
