So I tried Overwolf… Works in game as a overlay; BUT the music player doesn’t change the playlists. Again, back to the small things of trying to do one thing. /sigh. All the steam overlay topics doesn’t bring anything up (I guess ANET hates any talk about steam). hm… Can Itunes or a music player be a overlay? That’s all I really want.
Main problem right now is the custom music. I have been using the custom music built in, but after awhile I got tired of how limited it was. Sound cuts off; sometimes it takes minutes before it kicks in… (Not random). I love the idea that was put in; but it seemed to never been polished.
So I decided to just do manual playlists. I thought the best way to do it is though steam overlay with it’s music… Nope, Steam overlay doesn’t work. I am going to look up otherways; but why does it feel like a uphill battle with this game?
(I had several other issues, but I was able to get by)
I love playing my necro, but I also love my custom music
Not sure why I have such a hard time with it. The mainmenu works, and the others not so much. They don’t do anything. I am a bit confused as well. I was in game for a good 10 minutes and no music; but right when I logged off my ambient music started to work.
My first batch did have some Kanji in it; but I took out the Kanji from the file. Then I went in and edited out the title in the .M3U to take out the Kanji from the title. That didn’t work. I then edited the Ambient to get rid of the music file with Kanji all together. (Which was the one that worked but it took several minutes to kick in)
Does the game have to time to read all the music or something?
I got it to work one time a good year back. But I lost my playlist. But even then it took me a while to get that to work and I was always so scared of changing a single line in the .M3U.
I went to even try to use the custom soundtrack program for GW2 that someone made, but it looks like it’s out of date because it refuses to check music files saying that avbin.dll is not there (Even though it is there and I even updated that. So I guess the program is out of date or something)

Been some time.. so bump? lol.
But yea, anyway to get 60 frames with out worrying about my cpu overheating?
wait what? So it’s an option… Then why is it saying that it can’t find my e-mail. Hell, I had this issue before and I still have an e-mail with them giving me one of my characters name I can use. But even NC account is not showing my e-mail. (I just made one with my e-mail).
This bites >.< But thank you for helping. I will try to get someone from over… where ever I need to go to help me.
Been YEARS since I played GW1. But I decided to play it again. I have the steam version, so I installed though there and got to the account. I had no idea you had to link the account to GW2 now (It was odd that it couldn’t see my account name).
But I keep getting an error to link the account…
“A server error has occurred. Please wait a moment and try again.”
Googling just has other people asking the same thing.

Been having this issue for a long time, and it’s just with this game. At times my screen just goes a mess and there is a loud noise.
The reason I got back in to GW2 because I got some new thermal paste hoping that it will help with the heat issues I have with the CPU. I know that I JUST put the new paste on and I have to wait a bit. I DID blow out the dust in the heatsink and the computer with a can of air. But I thought I would ask on the forums on what I should do next.
Played it, and had the crash again. So the CPU is still overheating with this game.
I read a couple of posts, but there are not many that have my issue.
I heard that I should underclock my GPU? Even though it’s my CPU having the issue?
Any help would be great. Before when I played GW2 I had to keep it locked under 30 frames. It helped a bit but I would still get crashs, just not as often. (and I really hate playing it like that)
Well, I got it to work because of a SMALL detail that I had to search ALLOVER for. Had it not been for munkaybiznaz in…
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/audio/A-guide-to-custom-playlists/page/2
Saying that it should be in the DOCUMENTS area, that I should put it in the GAME INSTALLATION area.
A small detail that made me crazy, but I got it to work… Thank god. Anyone having this issue try that. OMG…
Here is the playlist here from the VLC…
#EXTM3U
#EXTINF:149,Kenji Yamamoto – 01 Metroid Prime Title
C:\Users\*\Documents\Guild Wars 2\Music\MainMenu\Metroid Prime Title.mp3
So… I am going to delete the author and title to see if that works.
EDIT: Nope.
How did you get it to work?
Does not work. Despite the errors, creating the playlists are fine. But the game never plays them.
Now I used VLC to make a playlist for the MainMenu. Checked the .m3u, and it had the full file destination.
That did not work either. So… am I missing something? Did they get rid of the custom soundtracks because either I am doing something stupid, or they just got rid of it leaving the wiki page up.
Now I am trying to use itunes to make a playlist… and the export playlist is blanked out and I do not know why. Freaking hell >.<
I have used the GW2 fan made playlist editor, but that does not work as well. Even with the changed music names. So yea…
Ok, I just changed all my music to take out special characters and numbers. Even then, it does not work >.<
Bumping this as I have the same issue.
The music are in mp3. I put them in the music folder of…
\Documents\Guild Wars 2\Music\Battle
\Documents\Guild Wars 2\Music\MainMenu
…so I know what music I am using.
I have used .mpu and .mpl, both which give the entire directory of the music inside them.
My main menu looks like this…
<?wpl version=“1.0”?>
<smil>
<head>
<playlist>MainMenu.wpl</playlist>
And still it does not work >.<
Well, the game still crashed when forcing it to 45. The graphics mess up and the game gives out a buzzing noise.
But I turned it down to 38 and it runs just fine. I do not even get a headache.
Thank you Jaz, I have Nvida so I will check there.
My computer is not that great in the heat department. I can run 60 frames just fine, but I can’t play for long as my cpu overheats.
I have already cleared out dust and put new thermal paste in. I just don’t have the means to get a new stock or fan.
I can run the game at 30 frames, but it makes my head hurt after a while. If I can get it to at least 45 I would be good, but the option is only at 60 and 30. So, is there a file I can edited or something to limit it to 45?
