Have you tried the latest drivers from AMD? They’ve launched a driver to help with micro stuttering. Driver version 13.8 and they just launched 13.10 Beta to. Give it a shot and try to overclock the card just a lil bit.

You say 60+ FPS. That means that you have Vsync disabled otherwise you won’t get more than 60FPS. Try and enable the Vsync in the game with the with the frame limiter set to unlimited. It doesn’t sound like a fix, but for some reason the Vsync makes a big difference on the smoothness of the game.

Thanks for the name of that app, I will give it a try. The CPU has a build in Thermal ceiling and mine is @ roughly 93 Degrees Celsius. What that mean is that if your CPU for whatever reason must hit that then your PC will reboot. So even without the Thermal monitoring your CPU has a build in safety. But then again I won’t bother with overheating as Intel always makes rock solid chips. But that is every one’s personal choice so give the other settings a try and leave the Thermal monitor on and see what happens. The whole goal is to try and keep your CPU at a constant speed as the up and down in frequency causes the stutter affect.

So after reading hundreds of forums with people complaining about the low FPS problem, or a sudden drop in FPS I decided to help a bit. I also had the same issue where I will get 250 FPS+ and all of a sudden it drops all the way down to 10 FPS. It took me months to find the fix as no one on the forums could come up with a solid fix. So first I would just like to give you a quick rundown on my PC specs so that you can see the issue is not a lack in hardware performance.

2 × 60GB OCZ Agility 3 SSD’s in RAID 0
8GB ADATA DDR 1866 Gaming series RAM
Core i7 3770K @ 4.4GHz
2x Gigabyte Geforce GTX570 SC Editions in SLi

So as you can see I have all the hardware to run GW2 at full graphics 1080P, but I was still getting 10FPS. So here is what I did:

1.) Make sure the Vsync in the game is turned on and the frame limit is turned to Unlimited with the refresh rate set @ Default.

2.) In your system BIOS turn all CPU power saving features to Disabled e.g.
CPU Enhanced Halt (C1E) —-- Disabled
C3/C6 State Support —-———— Disabled
CPU Thermal Monitor —-——- Disabled
CPU EIST Function —-————— Disabled

This is what worked for me, now I have a constant 45 – 60 FPS. Please feel free to leave comments.

Let me start with my little problem that I ran into. I bought a new gaming computer about a year ago. The specs of my system is as follow.

2 x Geforce GTX 570 (SLi) (Super clock editions)
Intel Core i7 3770K @ 4.4Ghz
2 × 60GB OCZ Agility 3 SATA 3 SSD in Raid 0
8GB DDR3 1866 ADATA Gaming Series Ram

So my specs is not bad, also not the best. It’s just a solid gaming rig that can play just about any game on full graphics @ 1080P or so I thought until I ran into GW2.

Anyway long story short I started playing Guildwars 2 and a lot of people complained about sudden frame drop and low frame rate. I however also ran into the same problem. In some areas I will get 250FPS + and all of a sudden that number will drop to as low as 10FPS.
It took me a good few months of trying all kinds of things e.g. New Drivers, Over clocking, Lowering the graphics settings and so on…. Until one day I found the fix to the problem and here it is:

1.) First of all, make sure you have the Vsync turned on in the game.

2.) This is the most important one: Turn off all energy saving settings in your motherboard BIOS for the CPU. e.g. C1 state, C6 state, Turbo Boost and whatever ells there is. Make sure that your CPU stays akittens constant speed that it is clocked to and doesn’t drop the clock speed when there is little CPU activity.

Those 2 adjustments made all the difference in the world on my rig. Now I sit with a constant 50 to 60FPS.

I hope this will help you if you have the same issue.
