I’m using an iPhone 3s. I have tried both the QR scan and inputting manually and neither gets me past that step. I put in the number that is generated and it just reloads the page and gives me a new secret code.

Very frustrating.

Do you guys even read the rest of these threads?

There have been many threads on here that are simply named after the matchup of the week, and the trash talk begins.

Community takes time. Rivalries take even longer. The Yankees and Red Sox didn’t get a fanbase in a month nor did they have a rivalry in a month. Give it some time.

I rather like only being able to see the Guild Tag on enemies. I’m in a very small guild, but there have been a least a couple times when we have gone off mission because we spotted a particular guild that we decided to hate for some reason.

Do you want WvW to truly be about the community or about individuals? There is a balance to be struck, and I think Anet is on the right side of this one.

#1 Problem with WvWvW -- The Scoreboard

in WvW

I don’t think anyone can argue with the fact that the WvW experience is a great one. Sure, it has little problems here and there. But I think there is one piece that is so out of place that it is the center of many problems players are having — the scoreboard.

If I may be allowed to use the war metaphor in a limited way, war does not have a scoreboard.

WvW was sold as open world pvp. As soon as you put up a scoreboard, it becomes some sort of battleground, a match. There are points to be scored and a scoreboard that declares a winner. This goes against the very nature of open world PvP and I think it is at the heart of some of the problems that have sparked the most discussion.

Off-peak capping? Who cares? The demoralization that comes with looking at a lop-sided score? Non-existent.

This would also encourage much more server pride. Instead of playing for a win that is determined in less than a day, play to see how much you can accomplish for your server while you are logged in. Play to put your server color and guild banner on a camp, tower, keep, or even Stonemist.

Lastly, taking away the scoreboard automatically makes WvW the casual playstyle that is severely lacking right now.

Open world is supposed to be about taking and losing objectives, not about winning a match. I think that those of us that thought WvW was going to be true open world pvp are a little disappointed with the battleground match mentality that is dominating WvW right now.

Siege Equipment Despawning

This has been known for some time. All it takes is for someone to sit in them every so often so they don’t despawn.

I think it is fine. Otherwise there would be unused siege equipment all over the place.

I’m really not sure what game you are playing when 8s of 12 stacks of might, plus a decent heal is seen as nerfing your group. You realize it doesn’t have the same 5 man limitation of almost all other group buffs?

I will say that it does suffer from diminishing returns. The less people around you, the less effective the staff is, and if you are with only 2 other people, it is rather lackluster. However, in a large WvW or DE fight, it really gets into the overpowered side of things.

I play mostly WvW, and usually have at least 10-15 allies around me. That makes it well worth it.

I will agree that at first it felt clunky and a bit all over the place, but after using it for a while, it has grown on me. I use it as an opener and then switch to Mace and Shield and move in to protect and disrupt and switch back as soon as I know Empower is ready again.

I would also argue that saying Empower is not a set up for a combo is short-sighted. If you can coordinate with allies so that they use a huge burst skill right after getting that ridiculous amount of might, things melt.

Example I have used in a Dungeon = Empower goes up and right at the end our mezmer gave us all quickness, and I give out Justice. So, hitting twice as fast, inflict burning, all with 12 stacks of Might. Sounds like a pretty darn good combo for only the expense of a 4 second channel. Nerfing the group? Not at all.

Previewing Chest armor removes textures of Head armor

I can’t preview any of the heavy armor dungeon sets from the vendors in Lion’s Arch. All I get is a generic looking armor. I’ve submitted a bug report on at least 2 occasions. I’m not really a huge PvE guy, although I’m loving the PvE in this game. But I really don’t want to farm a dungeon unless I know how the armor is gonna look on my character.

I find it to be rather an exciting challenge to try to even get the Empower off. I’m speaking of WvW here. Enemies will try to make sure I can’t get it off and I am trying to make sure I can because it will, all by itself, turn the tide of battle if I can get the whole thing off.

However, if you are speaking of PvE, I’m sure it is rather boring, as is PvE combat compared to PvP.

The problem relies on the design of all of its damaging skills.

No, this is the problem right here. The staff is not designed for dps. However, it is absolutely incredible for support, if only for the #4-Empower. Also, Might boosts Condition Damage as well as Power. Then give out your Virtue of Justice = melt enemy. Giving out that much might to 5 allies around you is incredibly powerful. You know how much dps a Thief or Ranger can do in 8 seconds? Also, with Altruistic Healing, Empower becomes the best heal in my bag, even better than my actual healing utility skill.

Having a hard time getting the full 4 seconds off? Activate “Stand Your Ground!” as soon as you see someone is about to mess with it. Pretty sure the Might improves how much damage Retaliation does.

In short, nothing should be taken in a vacuum. At level 6, with no other weapons or utilities or traits, sure, the staff may not be the best weapon to go solo champion mobs, but my level 80 and my allies around me absolutely love my staff and wouldn’t let me roll without it.

Guardian: Awesome in WvW

My guild knows the difference between me being there and not. I like to bounce between the front lines and the back line. I love sitting on a wall and just buffing and healing and protecting the guys raining death down.

Also, Retreat and Symbol of Swiftness gets groups where they need to get fast.

Anyone using a mace?

I love the mace, with sigil of water, I’m doing a reasonable amount of healing at the point of attack with just the 1 ability. The 2 I really love, especially if allies would stop running away from it.

The debate I’m really having is whether to scrap my shield for a focus. But my shield looks so cool.

(PvE only) Despite my initial believe, I really like the staff.

This is my opinion also. I didn’t like the staff at first. I decided to give it another go. I find with a lot of the weapons that playing them is a lot different than reading abilities and thinking about what might be good and bad about them.

lack of WvW roles and possible solutions

The build I use centers on Shouts and Altruistic healing. I use Staff/Mace & Shield. I am almost constantly healing myself as I give out boons, turn conditions into boons on allies, throwing Aegis around, etc. The more allies I have around, the better I am able to keep myself up. My guildmates believe I am somewhat unkillable. I have NO vitality stats. I rely on Toughness as I can remove conditions fairly easily. I only have about 17k health and it fluctuates a great deal in a battle, but almost everything I do, including dodging, heals me as I make my allies that much better and keep them alive.

I’m just not seeing the problems being described here. Of course, by myself I’m pretty useless, and I can’t really kill anything, but that is not what my build is for.

I feel nerfed using a staff. Even is a support build.
As for pvp, i dont see standing still an option so that heals plus might will only happen in pre fights.
Line of warding can be sorta usefull to block progress in narrow spots, but again, other weapon sets can be far more supporting than a staff.

Right now, I dont see a use except nerfing yourself.
And no, that speed buff is awsome, but again, it is also something to be done pre fights.

Hit #4 then Stand your Ground in the middle of a fight, done.

As for the #3 — Who doesn’t need a speed boost and a nice aoe in the middle of a fight? I drop it on an ally so he can chase down or get away from an enemy when they need to. I really like putting a line of warding right behind a guy, then drop Symbol of Swiftnessss on them. Many times they back right up into the Ward and fall down.

No ability should be looked at as if it isn’t part of a whole build. If your staff feels nerfed, then it probably has something to do with your build not supporting staff play. I find the staff to be my go to weapon in WvW no matter what the situation.

Does Pure of Heart apply to allies?

in Guardian

Romanus.8023

Just wondering if the Pure of Heart trait applies to allies as well. Pretty important.

Pure of Heart — Aegis heals on removal

And I guess this would also be a question for Wrathful Spirit as well.

Wrathful Spirit — Aegis gives retaliation when it ends

I’m really not a fan of rules and descriptions that fail to use consistent terminology. Is there a difference between an Aegis ending or being removed?

Would be nice to have more specific, consistent language.

Any help anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated.

The #2 is another ranged attack/heal. It’s not OP or anything, but it is perfectly fine. Especially when you consider the #4 ability- Empower. This is an absolutely awesome ability. 12 stacks of might on you and allies around and a big burst heal at the end. Oh, and if you have Altruistic healing, you’re healing yourself throughout the whole channel.

I think the Staff is the best Guardian support weapon.
