For the last 2 weeks I have been searching the internet trying to find a valid reason why Guild Wars 2 was running so slowly on my PC even though I have a mid-range card and was playing other games fine. I checked my CPU temp in my bios and it was running at 88 degrees. I took out the CPU, cleaned off the old thermal compound with rubbing alcohol and reapplied some new compound. Now my computer is running at 45 degrees and Guild Wars 2 jumped from 5-17 FPS on medium setting to 58-63 FPS on high settings. This was the last thing I expected to be the problem, but it may help some of you, especially if you bought your motherboard with your CPU already installed. Who knows if the manufacturer did a good job? And even if your CPU is running at 60-70 degrees, dropping to 45 might just make the difference. Good luck all of you and hopefully this will help someone!
