I was actually thinking of trying to mix Carrion and Rabid, with a slight edge in stats to Carrion. It seems like having a bit more health AND defense might be a good thing, plus with the Power from Carrion, I won’t hit like a small child. This will also save me a bit of gold, since I can just get the Rabid from the Temples via Karma, while buying crafted Carrion.
I’m a little worried that this might spread my stats a little too thin, though. I don’t really mind wasting Karma to try this out, but I don’t want to waste gold. What do you think?
I’ll use karma imo than gold unless it’s reasonable price.
Haha yeah. I was actually asking what you thought about mixing sets like that. Gold is much more precious to me than Karma, that’s one of the reasons I was wondering if mixing would be viable, since it could potentially be easier on my (in game) wallet.

I love using the long sword, the problem is that in WvW it’s only really useful as a movement boost.
Bleeds take time to do their damage, and being in melee range you will be taking a lot of spike damage, while needing time to do your damage… it’s a mess.
…and condition duration is almost worthless in PvP. Just think of it this way, the class you are most likely to face is a thief. Their heal cures bleeding, if they spec for it, their stealth cures a condition every three seconds.
…and while you are trying to get your bleeds to stick, their cutting you down in 4-5 hits.
So if you are set on using long swords , try to mix in some direct damage. Going all bleeds just isn’t as good as it should be.
It’s sad, but as long as thieves rule WvW, you have to build to counter them.
Any suggestions as to how to go about mixing in more direct damage in order to be more viable?
Should I go with Carrion instead of Rabid?

Sounds good. Thanks for your help, Brutalistik. I appreciate it. If anyone else has any additional suggestions, I’d love to hear em.
Any suggestion for what sigil I should use on my other sword?
How would I get the best use of the Geomancy Sigil? I would have to constantly switch between rifle and swords? I imagine I would roam with my rifle out, and then switch to swords when I get into melee range, one of which would have the Geomancy Sigil?
My initial thought was to put a Sigil of Agony and a Sigil of Earth on my swords.
I’m just trying to understand it all a little better, though I’m probably overthinking a bit.
I’m not a fan of constantly eating food. I know that may hinder me a bit, but I find it tedious and expensive. I was planning on taking Deep Cuts anyway. I was also planning on slotting Dogged March and Last Chance, as Brutalistik recommended.
As for Sword/Warhorn as a secondary set, I was actually planning on using a rifle and maybe taking Crackshot. I like to have a decent ranged option in WvW. I’m all ears for why Sword/Warhorn would be better, though.
Brutalistik, if you don’t mind, why do you suggest Undead runes over Afflicted/Krait?
So, I’m thinking of making a sword/sword condition build for WvW. I know most people dislike swords, but I find them to be pretty fun, and I’m determined to make this build.
Now, I’m having a little trouble deciding on which runes to put in my armor (Rabid gear fwiw). I can’t seem to decide on either 3 Afflicted/ 3 Krait or 6 Undead.
The Afflicted/Krait combo will give me +166 Condition damage and +30% Bleed duration, while the 6 Undead will give me +183 Condition damage, +50 Toughness and 5% of Toughness will be converted to Condition damage.
Now, I’m leaning toward the Afflicted/Krait combo for the extra Bleed duration, but I’d like to hear some opinions from other Warriors.
So, any thoughts?
I think Mike O’Brien himself needs to post on this subject.
Don’t continue throwing your subordinates under the bus, Mike.
If this decision is going to stand then you will absolutely bear the brunt of the praise/ridicule. You are the President of the company, you are the executive producer (meaning you make the final decisions) of Guild Wars 2.

I guess we can say that WoW forever doomed the mmo genre by simply existing.
Ain’t that the effin truth.
I haven’t read all 147 pages of posts, so apologies if this has already been suggested before:
ANet is a company. Numbers talk to them. At this point, we can reasonably expect Ascended items to make their way into the update this weekend and we may better illustrate our disapproval through actions.
For those who are not happy with the stat increase, why don’t we decide on a day where no one logs into the game for a day? A weekend day (say Saturday Nov 24, one week after the content update, starting GMT 0:00 for 24 hours) would have the largest impact as player logins are highest. The benefits are two-fold:
1) For those claiming that this direction alienates a majority of the playerbase, ANet will have some concrete numbers to work with. It could be the case that much of what we see here is grandstanding and we are all happily chasing giant crabs to care, or ANet might see a 50% drop in playerbase for that period.
2) Talk is cheap. If we all feel as strongly about this as the forum posts suggest, we need to do more than complain. This is only a suggestion and we should decide on its merits or lack-thereof after this weekend once we have a better idea of how frequently Ascended loop drops and what the Infusions are.
Just some thoughts.
I actually posted something similar earlier in the thread. I’ll post it again:
One thing people should do to show their disagreement with these new changes, is not log into the game at all this weekend when the new patch is released. It might not have the biggest effect but it’s something. If you feel this “Ascended Patch Weekend Boycott”, or whatever you wanna call it, is something you’re interested in, use some willpower and absolutely DO NOT log in at all this weekend. Don’t even log in for the Main Event on Sunday. Just go do something else and put it out of your mind. It’s not much, but at least it’s something.
The people in this thread do not sound like they are about to ‘refer a friend’.
Heh you got that right. From now on I’ll be doing my best to keep people away from this game.
Also to set one thing straight. Most of us who are enjoying the new content update coming out never played that horrible game WoW.
I know I personally never touched it, granted I’ve played plenty of other amazing games that have gear progression to them.
Yup so horrible it has as of last earning call over 5 times the number of monthly subs then total GW2 box sales. Yup must be horrible.
I love how he says he never played it, but says it’s horrible anyway. He must be psychic. I’ve played it and I don’t like it, but at least I came to that conclusion on my own, I didn’t just follow popular hate trends. It really must suck to not be able to think for yourself.

For what it’s worth, I think bcbully is just here to cause drama and doesn’t actually give a kitten about this game at all, so don’t take him too seriously. If you look at his posts on mmorpg.com and compare them to the posts here, I think his main goal is to cause trouble for this game. For instance, look at some of his posts in this thread http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/369231/page/1
I bought this game to avoid the gear treadmill crap. I have already spent so much time getting the gear I need, and now it’s not gonna be good enough? I went into this game thinking it would be about skill, not constantly grinding for stats.
I’m gonna say it right now: Anet, if you decide to go through with this, I promise you will never see another cent from me. I’ll just uninstall and never look back. It may sound childish, but that’s what’s gonna happen.
