I gotta agree with OP on this one.
I bought this game at basically release, and have played and put money into it off and on since. I can easily say I have close to $100+ spent in the online store alone, and that isn’t even on the core game purchase.
The changes to this game and the overall goal on how the game is layed out (no boxed expansions?! Seriously?! Do you hate money?!) has left me completely sour. I could play WoW for years with only my Rogue and have a blast. Here, I am STUGGLING to keep interest by leveling multiple characters, and I am about to get my 5th and 6th lvl80 in the next few weeks.
The Warrior changes are kittening disgusting, Ham/Bow is still insanely good while everything else suffers because the devs have Z.E.R.O. foresight with their changes in the game. I am all for Adrenaline being a used resource. But how about you actually make it a WORTHWHILE resource before changing it, and making half of the class completely unusable as a result.
I’m about done with the game. Dota is a much better, more balanced, and less time intrusive PvP game that is actually worth playing at this point. GW2 use to fill me MMO PvP itch, but trying to play it is like banging my head against a wall.Too many bad design choices from the get go, and even more added in as the game continues.
I really wish I could get all the time/money invested on the game back, as I was hoping the devs could have turned this into something good. Clearly, I was wrong.
I’m getting sick and tired of whiny little boys turning a forum called WARRIOR into girly whinefests (apologies to the ladies). Be men for a change. Nobody gives a kitten if you’re leaving, not even ANET (you already payed, hah). If every other whiner like you did the same and left, there would be only warriors left, who are worthy of their profession’s title.
-Cheers. Here, have some chocolate, I hear it’s good at bad times like this.
Boehoe..
Now all stop being whiny because this guy says so..
Pls dont ask anet for more info about the chance or why they didnt do anything about traits that are kittened because this adrenaline chance.. or skills like Signet of fury or Healing surge.. And no dont ask for a +5sec delay on adrenaline decay OOC.. because kitten pve right because nobody need burst skills there.. why not remove it totally in pve right? yeah no stop whining and let Anet do its job because they are great in balancing and they dont need any input because they will never forget something when balancing.. nope they test it all before it goes live.
Right Vindicator.5384!?
Colin, I have a couple of questions I’ve seen on reddit.
I know that the company’s policy is not to discuss things being developed, but is there a chance that we could have a PTS for balance changes and this kind of system overhauls?
Some of us believe that our feedback could be more precise and overall helpful if it were given before a release where most of the community reaction is filled with passionate opinions and a bit of confusion.
Also, this is a bit unrelated, but regarding to overall patches, Can we expect the biweekly advertised patches on a regular schedule next year? I find it to be a huge selling point of this game (and have let me convince many friends to try it out), but in practice, we have biweekly updates for very short periods of time, and is not constant.
and if I’m lucky to have an answer: SAB! revert a bit of warrior changes (bring us RU’s arcing slice please!) and thanks for the good work!
A very good topic sir, bravo bravo! I highly urge you as to read the other topics on the matter, if you haven’t done so yet, that many people, among them me as well, have posted and also join the conversations, too. This change to the warrior in my opinion is mostly unfair and let me say that like you, I am also a warrior who was fairly open to nerfs like the HamBow one, but I believe that this one was an overkill for our profession.
Most would call us innately biased as we main Warriors (which may be true). However, I have mained a warrior since launch so I’ve been through the ups and downs of this class.
In my opinion, if things keep going the way they are (most classes remaining neutral/gaining buffs and warriors receiving nothing but global nerfs), I truly think we are one bad balance patch away from unviability.
It’s not only that, the things that I think upsets me the most about this change is that ANet literally:
1: Made hambow more essential due to adrenaline changes
2: Made every other non-bow build less viable due to adrenaline changes
3: Didn’t buff any non-viable weapon sets (or barely)
4: In fact nerfed two already non-viable weapon sets in PvP (GS and Rifle)
I think ANet intentionally destroyed build diversity for the warrior because I just don’t see how it is possible to have these 4 points occur simultaneously in one patch. If that was the intention, I say well played ANet you are pro!

Truthfully I don’t have a problem with losing adrenaline on missed burst. I do agree however that the instant decaying of adrenaline as soon as you go out of combat is pretty disheartening and unneeded. Maybe if it was 10 seconds after leaving combat I would be OK with it, to at least give the warrior a chance to engage in combat again if he chooses to do so. Sometimes it isn’t a warrior’s choice that he isn’t in combat, why come down on Warriors so hard for that? Adrenaline right now is probably the most punishing profession mechanic out of any class, by far.
Our burst mechanic is much less intricate than other mechanics, and arguably not as good as other profession mechanics. Necros get an extra lifebar and 4 extra skills. Mesmers get 4 skills. Guardians get three, Engis get 4 varying skills, etc. We get one skill on a low cooldown, but also a crutch that is heavily relied upon for condi removal. Yet this burst mechanic is so integral to a warrior that if you completely take it away you might as well delete the class. People act like Warriors didn’t get punished at all for a badly timed burst. If a Warrior misses a burst that is a lot of potential DPS forgone. Missing a burst is more consequential to a warrior than missing most other skills. Also, missing a burst means Cleansing Ire doesn’t proc. Missing a burst pretty much means a green light for the opponent, it means you should be more aggressive as his potential DPS at that time is low and his vulnerability to conditions is higher. This is just as punishing in my opinion if not more as a missed Shatter, mistimed pet skill, badly used Death Shroud, etc.
And of course, the next idiot will probably come in this thread and probably say something like " YOUR JUST MAD YOUR OP AND SKILLESS CLASS GOT NERFED AND HARDER TO PLAY NO MORE SPAMMING F1 TO WIN GOOD RIDDANCE TO WARRIORS THEY FINALLY GOT NERFED AFTER MAJOR BUFFS THE LAST 5 MAJOR BALANCE PATCHES NOPE IT CANT POSSIBLY BE BECAUSE I AM A TERRIBLE ELE IT IS DEFINITELY THE WARRIOR". Unfortunately, this kind of post is pretty prevalent nowadays.
Warriors honestly aren’t even that hard to beat to begin with. People are too busy going on an anti-warrior tirade without maybe getting better. And are honestly too blind to see that past the longbow, there are areas that Warriors do need decent buffs in.
Btw, I am having a blast playing the Ranger, Engi Mesmer and Medi Guardian right now
(edited by killahmayne.9518)
Taken from another thread.
Warriors w/o healing signet have no sustain whatsoever. The alternative heals might not seem so bad to some people but they are bad in relation to the warrior’s mechanics and competencies. People seem to forget that it was Healing Signet that allowed them to be top tier in PvP. Even with Cleansing Ire they were still bottom tier, mainly because they had no sustain whatsoever. Problem is, if you nerf healing signet into the ground, you pretty much take Warriors out of the PvP meta and in WvW they will be food to many classes whom just received some sizable buffs. It would be fairly easy to replace that Warrior with another Ele or an Engi with little regret. Nerfing Healing Signet hard will make Warriors worse than pre-signet buff because of all the damage nerfs to Hammer and Longbow and now currently adrenaline nerfs. Also ANet promised to rework the active, here we are 7-8 months later.
The skill floor might of been raised, maybe for bad warriors. Decent warriors already knew the importance of landing a burst because even before this nerf it was the difference between winning and losing a fight. Burst skills will always be missed no matter how good you are. Even if you count dodges and keep track of utilities used. It was more than a "well you can’t just spam adrenaline skills anymore" it was a straight up nerf for good players as well. Warriors, whom are simple by design doesn’t have that skill ceiling that most other classes do (a very well played alternative class can be just as effective if not more effective than a warrior, it is just more difficult to attain that level for most people).
Warriors have gotten nerfed the past 3 or so major patches, mainly because of 1 or two builds. The complaints aren’t that we are getting nerfed in general (cause lets be honest there are some places where we could get nerfed). The complaints are that the nerfs we get come from totally left field and ANet nerfs the wrong things.
For example, Hundred Blades and Whirlwind damage did not need to be nerfed. I could understand toning down the mobility but damage was never a problem for the Greatsword. And totally last minute they nerfed the damage of Arcing Slice which was totally unnecessary. The skill is still completely garbage whether it is an AoE or not.
Instead of seeing nerfs to Longbow and how it interacts with CI and maybe the size of it (which honestly is the main culprit here), we saw nerfs to Signet of Rage, Adrenaline, and indirectly sustain. These are global nerfs to the warrior. Problem is when you don’t nerf the main culprit, but just nerf everything around it, you are making underused builds even less viable. Worst part is that the adrenaline nerf doesn’t even effect longbow, which makes it a double whammy in terms of making it more essential. And no other weapon set got buffed. Mace auto attack cast time on 3rd swing is nothing, in fact I think they nerfed rifle by shifting its damage. Whirling Axes is still trash. They pretty much nerfed Greatsword because Arcing Slice is still bad.

thank u arenanet for making me leaving the game more easily now, this is easily the worst update u’ve ever made. i honostly wouldnt care less what in hell were u thinking but 1 thing is for sure ur stupidity and lack of imagination ruined the game, im done with the trash game u’ve created today and this is a player that has been with u since day 1 since before betas, yeah, thats right. im just 1 persone but i hope plenty more come with me. cheers.
Just when every veteran warrior was looking for this old useless skill to be useful instead we get the old useless skill in an aoe that does a marginal amount of extra damage to people below 50%.
Look at the pictures below and see what we were shown(top) and what we got(bottom)
This is comedy at its best. The HB nerf and whirl nerf came and everyone was thinking, ‘’ oh its so that the new arcing slice will actually deal damage.’’ But instead we get this thing that hits like a wet noodle and looks kitten y. The signet of rage nerf is just wierd. That signet is used more for the active and way way less for the passive. But those don’t matter.
But nerfs to HB/whirl/sig of rage are done and the thing that was supposed to be the place holder for is arcing slice. Give us the arcing slice you showed us and not this "thing’
skill is pretty kittening good, why dont you try it instead of whining
full damage on 1 bar of adren, easily spammable, quick enough to combo with cc, large aoe, gives enormous amount of free fury…
sword/greatsword zerk is so much fun now
I did try it… a lot and it’s not that good.
1.) Sub 50% it hits for a little bit more than a good crit but not much
2.) We don’t need another way to generate “enormous amount of free fury” we’ve already got that covered in spades
3.) It’s not “free fury” when you have to spend a resource to get it
4.) Try to combo a CC with final thrust a couple times then take a good look at the damage Arcing Slice is offering you (I’ll give you a hint, AC has a damage coefficient of 1.4 and FT has a coefficient of 3.0 for a little perspective)
5.) You can combo most Adrenaline dumps with a CC outside of kill shot
6.) We don’t need another form of AoE, again we’ve already got more than enough of that on GS already.
So I really get the feeling that you’re trying really hard to love these changes even though if you took step back and really looked at them from a design standpoint you’d realize like so many others how bad they are.
Sadly I too feel they should have left it 100%.
classic bait and switch…
>Arcing Slice: This skill now deals 50% more damage to foes below 50% health.
>This skill now deals 50% more damage to foes below 50% health.
>deals 50% more damage to foes below 50% health.
>50% more damage
lol….
[Bonus lol: Lowered base damage by 8%.]
Tested it out for a couple hours. Imo its the same old arcing slice in an aoe. Its not worth using it how it is now unless you need the fury or ire proc.
If they make it 100% more dmg at enemy hp less than 50% then this skill be very worth it. But atm it’s just meh. The 8% extra nerf only made it worse and it doesn’t do much of a bonus to ppl with less than 50% hp. Its just a 1k-1.15k dmg increase to targets less than 50% so it only does 2k more dmg than an auto atk.
The 8% base damage decrease is the worst of all, makes the overall increased damage of the ability even more lackluster than it seems at first glance. I wouldn’t be so disenchanted with the whole change if they didn’t nerf the abilities base damage.
Like everyone else said, perfect example of bait n’ switch.

I can do point by point rebuttals too, it’s so easy when you can just ignore what the other person really means
It hits for 2 auto attacks for less cast time than 1, it is not supposed to be hitting as hard as level 3 evis.
Yes, it actually kind of is, do you recall from the Ready Up video we were told that we were getting an “executioner style” attack that would do significantly more damage sub 50%? Here I’ll remind here, you can find the cliff notes at http://dulfy.net/2014/08/08/gw2-ready-up-upcoming-warrior-and-thief-class-changes/
It gives you fury without needing to spec for it because it is a skill you will want to be using, ’Nuf said.
So does For Great Justice and Signet of Rage, you don’t have to spec for either of those as well.
Comparing this to final thrust is hilarious, arcing is a million times faster and easier to land… and oh yeah you can have BOTH
You’re missing my point… I was inferring that Arcing Slice isn’t exactly “executioner style” when it hits for substantially less than a skill like Final Thrust.
What other adrenaline dumps? This isn’t even a dump, you can fire it off and get meaningful damage from just swapping weapons once (with adren on swap). Evis will still miss due to random garbage or good players saving escapes because evis is way more telegraphed.
Earthshaker? Combustive Shot? Flurry if you’re condi specced? You do understand there are more specs out there than the typical ADHD hyperactive GS warrior one right?
We do not have enough aoe on greatsword, after blowing 100b and almost dying trying to cleave down a body, this is exactly what we needed
Well the fact that you’re trying to use 100b in PvP or WvW at all is a bit of an issue because anyone at all with a stun break and/or knows how to dodge will render that skill pointless. But I digress, you’re completely ignoring that you’re often sacrificing a ton of passive bonuses to use adrenal dump skills like Berserker’s Power, Adrenal Health and Heightened Focus. Fact is I don’t want to constantly be running at1 bar of adrenaline just so I can spam Arcing Slice in it’s current state, it’s just not that good.
Also yes it actually is supposed to be hitting that
(edited by Atticus.7194)
Burst recovery also became a pretty worthless stat.
Im not sure what they are thinking but in WvW zergs Im not using burst at all, its just become a a rather irrelevant part of the warrior.
Mhm, I am still scratching my head over why they nerfed the greatsword burst skill. Its a low damage attack that was only used for its buff at the start of combat….now we wont have the adrenaline to use it at the start of combat and it gets reduced damage till the enemy is almost dead anyhow.
You know, I never mention warcraft, but for the first time in two years I am going to say it – my warrior back then had execute….and execute actually hurt people when it hit, without hindering any of my other attacks.
Warriors were flat out lied to this patch – the announced buffs were nerfs.
so let’s see:
pve damage nerfed (gs damage and adrenaline decay)
wvw utility nerfed hard (goodbye banners)
pvp doesn’t need commenting
+slap in the face:
new “reworked” GS burst is a joke, give me back the old one at least i’ll just keep forgetting it exists rather than be reminded every time about how much it sucks
and even funnier, i thought they wanted to buff axe offhand skill 5? like… buff damage and reduce cd ok… it’s still going to be bad overall dps but WAIT! you can’t dodge during it anymore now taking away it’s only niche. HAHAHAHA NICE “BUFF”.
The problem is not the nerf.
The problem is the nerfs will continue to happen because people cannot accept that “good” and “warrior” can exist in the same sentence, and every domination by a warrior is not due to skill, but due to [ insert intrinsic class mechanic here] that is such a large crutch that the losing player would not have done any better if the warrior controller was a monkey; even though we have to gear specifically just to stay alive now, and are generally at a huge disadvantage against a condition-specced anything.
I’m fine with the adrenaline change. it won’t stop the qq though. bad players that encounter warrior will just move on to [mobility/armor/melandru/condiclear/bleeds/hammer/health/ire] OP until the class is just as sandbag as it was at launch.

I used to think (build op, pls nerf) like you, but then I took a nerf to the knee.

The Helm makes the facial hair of my character go away !
How would warriors feel if instead of shield stance being on a cooldown it instead consumed adrenaline in order to block? If you saw an attack coming you could block it and then go back to fighting but you would not be able to sit there and block forever because you need to attack to get your adrenaline back. I think this would make the shield a much more fluid weapon and would reward warriors with skill.
Thoughts?

As everyone knows gw2 is based on the horizontal progression, and many complain of skins (finding them ugly) and drops of itens, thinking about it, I found a cool solution. Where is created various weapons and armor by community, being voted on by itself, being the coolest enter the game, are in black lion for some days and a percentage of the profit for those who is created. After this time, that set(weapon) is placed in fractal and this itens is droped in one specific boss.
Example 1: One ppl created set with elements of ice, this set dropped in last boss of this dungeon in fractal. The chance to drop will be rare, only for each "5 (random number)" kill the boss would drop a piece of the set.
Like steam workshop. Its a great way to make money, and a good way to make ppls happy.
Examples of couriers made in steam workshop from dota 2.

These two courier has the participation of a Brazilian and Brazilians make some items WorkShop and live it, a margin of 25% of all profits of this item goes to the author or authors of that item. Ie if an item is sold, 100% of the profit of this item, 25% goes to the creator. If 10 or 100 items are sold by the same author, 25% of all profit goes to the creator.
The more people buy, the more profit the creator.
Today, the DOTA 2 broke his own previous record that had overtaken the game with more players online than wakittenherto Skyrim today peaked at 330k of players in the Client Online + 70k + 30k twicht the NeoTV, not to say that the DOTA 2 BETA is still closed in China and South Korea, the tendency is to increase the number of players ever. So far in the middle of the month, 3,200,000 unique players played DOTA 2. Anyway, the more players, the greater the number of sales of the item, the more profit the creator, has people living in it, and now with the number of players is increasing even more the more money you earn the creator ...
Example, the courier did T_Vidotto Bamboo, Bamboo costs 25 reais, 50,000 players bought this courier, assuming that the profit of each courier’s the value of the courier in case 25 real, 25% of that goes to the actual 25 T_Vidotto, as T_Vidotto profited at all? Well it is more or less around ... To improve the actual T_Vidotto has Ward’s, set’s for certain heroes, courier and have been approved and are in the game, imagine how much he earns per item sold, the profit generated by summing all items ...

Thats already the case.. don’t you just look at what happens, when you transmute something with different qualities??
Example
Lets say we have a Legendary with Stats like Strength, Vitality and Toughness…
And lets say we have an Exotic Weapon with Strength, Precision and Crit Damage %+
We want to have now a Legendary with the Stats of the Exotic …
Due to the point, that the STATS ARE BONDED TO THE ITEMS QUALITY, the result will always be this:
= Legendary Skin Weapon with Exotic Quality and Stats/Suffix of the Exotic Weapon.
So the legendary will change its name, receiving the suffix of the Exotic Weapon …
So if you had before an Incinerator, after the transmutation you will have then an Incinerator “of Berserker”….
You can easily test this out with all kinds of cheap items of poorer qualities to see the same results …
If you transmute something rare with a masterwork and you choose the skin of the rare item with the stats of the masterwork, the result will be a masterwork, not a rare item.
The only thing left to ask at this point is just only… is all this an intention of anet, or is this just some kind of bug in the system, that transmutation doesn’t take over always the better quality for the result-
I say, its all intention, because otherwise wouln’t be the items quality bonded with the items stats, but instead the items quality would be bonded with the SKIN either, or the quality would be exclused from the transmutation system completely and automatically be set fix on the best quality, so that the qualities of the transmuted items would have no need to be shown in the transmutation window at all.
I would like to make a suggestion in personalizing the avatar. I would like to see new hair styles and edgy colours for humans and norn. I really enjoyed the hairs and hair colour options in GW1 and would like to see these available in GW2. Also if it is possible, a make up kit for the females would be nice
Thanks for an awsome game!
If transmuted items use codes to reference specific item data, and I think they do, there’s always the possibility of allowing players to reverse it for Legendary transmutations.
I’m with the TC on this one, since I’d also like to hear word of this from ANet themselves.
i was wondering this myself, because you can transmute an exotic skin on a rare item and chose the stat of the rare items, the name still is orange, but the stats will be rare, so what op is asking is will this happen when we will have ascended weapon? will the legendary i transmuted for stats be exotic instead of upgraded to ascended?

Here’s my idea for a quest to obtain a precursor, it’s a long-term idea but it’s not 1-year since it’s just a part of the process to attain a legendary.
1st: There would be two types of [Gift of Fortune], [Gift of Mastery], and Gift of [Weapon], the first type would be just as it is now, the other would have a glow effect on the icon, maybe a display message “This artifact is illuminated.”, I’ll explain why this is necessary.
2nd: I thought about this place in kodan territory, it would be The Stone of Silent Voice, the stone holds three locks that fit three special “keys”, the gifts would be these keys: Gift of Fortune, Gift of Mastery and a gift to a specific precursor (Dusk, Dawn, The Lover, etc). Putting the three gifts would give you a long-term buff: Infinite Enlightenment. When you gain this buff, you will be enlightened and new things will be available for you, the gifts will now lose the extra glow they came with, this prevents one from gaining this buff over and over effectively farming precursors nonstop.
3rd: This is the farming part, and also the effective quest part. There will be NPCs in each map the dragons spawn: Servants of Light. These NPCs will only be visible by those who have the Infinite Enlightenment buff and only when the dragon is about to spawn (they’ll stay there for 15min. before the dragon lands, then disappear), they’ll grant the players the Inspired Soul buff, this buff allows the players to receive 1-2 (random chance) [Crystallized Dragon Essence] but they’ll only receive these tokens if they defeat the dragon with the buff activated. To spice things a little bit, if you’re downed you lose the buff and, therefore, won’t have any chances to get the tokens. You will be required to have 250 [Crystallized Dragon Essences] later on.
4th: Shadow Behemoth will now hold a mysterious portal upon its death, a mystical floating stone door-like portal with glyphic writings in it that will lead ONLY enlightened players to the: Maze of Chaos. I don’t know exactly how this could be scaled for solo players, or parties, but this would be a labyrinth with confusing doors that leads you ahead, each door will progress you further or push you back and they’ll have a veteran inside each room guarding the exit. At the end of this labyrinth you will find the Priestess of Light, she’ll be exchanging the hard-earned [Crystallized Dragon Essences] for one of her magical weapons (precursors) and, unlike dropped ones, these will be acc-bound. The portal to the Maze of Chaos could also require a map-wide collection dynamic event.
Notes:
- The Infinite Enlightenment is triggered upon using your three gifts in the locks on The Stone of Silent Voice;
- Each precursor would cost 250 [Crystallized Dragon Essences];
- As stated before, there would be two different gifts of each one to separate illuminated ones from ordinary ones, the illuminated would trigger the buff on a player so that they’ll be able to quest for the precursor. The illumination would disappear from the gifts to ensure the player won’t be able to farm a lot of precursors for free, it’s intended to be a 1-time long-term buff;
- The Infinite Enlightenment buff would disappear upon leaving the Maze of Chaos.
I know they’ll have a scavenger hunt, but it doesn’t hurt to suggest something using what the game has to offer. :P

Warrior: Master's of Weapons? Give us a 3rd Weapon swap slot.
in Suggestions
Posted by: Ragnar Dragonfyre.1806
There have been plenty of complaint’s that the Warrior is a button-mashing auto pilot class on the forums here. Warrior gameplay largely revolves around using all your weapon skills without much thought, swapping to your second weapon, rinse/repeat as much as cooldowns limit. As soon as your cooldown is done, you fire that badboy off. Now while I don’t agree it’s quite so cut and dry, the class could definitely benefit from more variety.
To spice things up, I propose Warrior’s be granted a third weapon set.
Warrior’s have access to a very large range of weaponry, yet we’re still limited to the same two weapon slots just like everyone else. It’s a shame that a class defining trait that gives us so much choice still boils down to forcing us to settle on using two weapon sets. Elementalists have access to all four elements (four full skill bars) so a precedent is already set in game for such a request.
Having access to a third weapon set would give Warrior’s access to a wider variety of tools allowing us to make conscious choices about what tools to use and when. This would bring Warrior’s more in line with the Master of Weaponry design they started with.
Access to a third weapon wouldn’t grant much, if any a DPS bonus due to swap cooldown, Adrenaline and Burst cooldown. Even with Fast Hands (5 seconds) and Shorter Bursts (8 second cooldown), it wouldn’t be optimal to rotate all three to “chain” burst. By the time you swap between all three (15 seconds), the first Burst would have been off cooldown for 7 seconds.
This request is all about offering Warrior’s more choice, which I think anyone who has played the Warrior can agree, we need more of.
