I did the calculations and posted on these threads, but nobody seems to care. They are just mad and they already brought their pitchforks. No turning back now…

That’s exactly where Ascended is and will be, even after this buff. The Weapon/Trinkets are already BiS and have been for a while, and are pretty easy to get, so there is nothing is new there. The armor was the only optional part…if you feel it’s worth it to get 40 main stat/29 off stat, then go for it. If not, don’t. It is exactly a small, but noticeable, disadvantage.
The prevailing gear recommendations have been Ascended weapons/trinkets and exotic armor up to this point. They have rebalanced stats and buffed Ascended gear by 5%, which now makes the ascended gear we had better and makes the ascended armor (more) viable. I’ve done some math for you (posted previously as well):
Current Exotic Armor Stats:
315/224/224
Exotic Armor Stats + 30% (Projected):
410/291/291
Current Ascended Armor Stats:
329/235/235
Ascended Armor Stats, Exotic+5% (Projected):
431/306/306
Ascended Armor Stats, Exotic+10% (Projected):
451/320/320
The difference from 5% to 10% (what everybody is all worked up over) is about 20 main stat and 14 off stat. Not that big of a deal.

I want to hear why this change was made – you’ve completely reversed your position on tiers now.
Here is your answer:
When we decided to rework core specializations, this meant moving stat points from traits to gear. This inherently made all gear stronger, including Ascended gear. This also gave us an opportunity to provide a more meaningful distinction between Exotic gear and Ascended gear.

One way of looking at it.
But you’re comparing 5% ascended to 10% ascended, which doesn’t really address the issue. A lot of people who don’t like that Ascended was added to the game didn’t like that it had any stat increase at all, but were content to just grumble a little because it was only 20 main and 14 off stat (with the 30% you figured in). Now it’s going to be 40 main and 29 off stat, and that seems like a pretty big bonus for something that is locked behind a ridiculously large, costly materials list and crafting grind.
It’s the gap between Ascended and Exotic we’re concerned about, not the gap between old Ascended and new Ascended. That latter gap is as small as the gap between old Ascended and Exotic, but it adds up to a more concerning gap between new Ascended and Exotic.
Keep in mind that these numbers are inflated from rebalancing stats by moving them from traits to gear, which inherently makes gear stronger. So Ascended gear was getting a buff from the moment the announced this change. The extra 5% is the only difference since the announcement and now you guys are all worked up.
Let’s use math to explain how silly you complainers are:

Not everyone on the internet is capable of expressing themselves through logic and language effectively or succinctly. In fact, most people aren’t regardless of the medium. It becomes harder to truly comprehend a person the more you focus on these things.
This is a good example, by focusing on the treadmill semantics you miss, marginalize, and/or obfuscate the core of many players frustrations with the relevant portion of GW2’s direction.
It takes almost no context or logic to realize that people complaining about treadmills are simply expressing their dissatisfaction with increasing the pressure on them to stat grind, which is not an expectation they, rightfully IMO, had for GW2.
Let’s use math instead:

If the stat values hold, going from full exotic to full ascended currently adds 85 to your primary gear stat. With the change it’ll become 220 more in the primary stat.
Let’s be clear…this change is about Ascended ARMOR, not a full Ascended set. If you haven’t been running with Ascended weapons and trinkets, well…
Currently, a full set of Ascended ARMOR gives a 14 point main stat and 11 point side stat increase. These values are inherently going to change since stats are being moved onto gear, but that’s all you get. And that benefit is being doubled.

Exotic gear will be just as good as it was before, maybe even better since trait stats are now re-balanced onto gear. All I see is a buff to a largely unused tier of armor, which nobody should be complaining about. But alas, you guys will complain about anything…

It won’t be required. You will be just as strong (if not more) in your exotic gear. Ascended armor was simply buffed, so now there is an actual reason to get it when there wasn’t before. Don’t get it if you don’t want it.
“The attribute difference between exotic and ascended gear has been changed from 5% to 10%”. That’s the difference between those two tiers of gear, it doesn’t matter that exotic might get buffed, Ascended gear is jumping ahead of exotic regardless of where exotic gear is. Sure, we can say I don’t want Ascended and I refuse to get it, but good luck getting in on any content that isn’t helping new players in starter zone events.
You’ll be just as strong as you are today in your exotic gear, but now you will have the opportunity to be even stronger by going Ascended. Don’t you want that option?
